This hotel exceeded my expectations. It is a little touch of heaven in the heart of Rockhampton. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the spa bath was amazing. It was spotless, and I would have loved to have stayed longer. The staff were friendly and helpful on check-in and check out. I felt like I'd gone back in time to another era. It was nice to pull the curtains and rest in a dark room after working away from home for 3 months. Right across the road from the Great Western pub and walking distance to the gorgeous Fitzroy River and other venues.
I can't fault it.

Old railway administration building converted to boutique hotel. Good size room-very high ceilings -period furniture gave a luxury feel to the rooms-great spa bath to relax in after a day's touring. Good outdoor BBQ area for a quiet drink with friends. Great value continental breakfast. Easy access to Great Western hotel for meals and take-away cafe opposite.Good parking. Friendly and helpful staff.
Bit of an industrial feel to the area with the occasional freight train passing down the main road but really did not worry us. More of an interesting experience. With the heavy drapes in the room, might be an issue for asthmatics.

If you like 'oldy-worldy' experiences, then this is the place for you! We loved the high ceilings, the comfy 4-poster bed, the wrap-around verandah, and the sights and sounds of passing freight and coal trains. The spa tub is a bonus we did not partake in on this occassion - but we have before! After a long drive, we enjoy the short walk to the river to find a steak dinner in one of the grand historical pubs. A great overnighter in Rocky!
Maintenance could be slicker - one of the tiles in the toilet had fallen off the wall.

What a gem of a hotel. We felt like we had stepped back in time to the 1800s but with 21st century comfort! The four poster bed was a smash hit and the room decor was simply outstanding!!!! The walls on this hotel are about a foot thick so we weren't even bothered by the noise of the hotel across the road on a rowdy Saturday night. Well done guys this is a little beauty of a hotel.
The lawns were shaggy and not mowed and the paint on the outside was peeling which didn't make a great first impression. But don't let that fool you the rest of the place is beautiful. I am not a fan of cigarette smoke at all and was a little put off by the un-emptied butt trays outside every room. The hotel is right next door to a train line which my wife and I loved (who doesn't like the sound of a train?) but it was fairly loud and I can see that some people would make use of the ear plugs provided by the hotel to block them out.

We had an amazing room with a four poster bed and high ceilings. Immaculately clean and well appointed. The bed was huge and very comfortable with great pillows. The location is a bit out of the centre but walking distance to the river. The best surprise was that it’s across the road from The Great Western hotel where we were treated to a night of line dancing, meeting locals and great meals/drinks. The hotel even has a bull riding ring. Very entertaining and unexpected. The Denison was great value for money if a bit noisy with passing traffic. Would stay again.
Traffic noise.

Not our first stay.Have always loved the rooms decor and location. We are train buffs, so very much aware of the train station across the road. Far enough away from the main road to feel a little more private, yes, despite the trains,🤣but close to everything needed for a lovely stay.
Little changes, like the complimentary breakfast no longer offered. Gave you a chance to meet the other guests. The $100 .00 hold on your card when checking in, for the minibar etc. That was unexpected and we were caught a little off guard.

Charm. Care taken to furnish authentically to the period (Victorian) - furniture, plumbing, ornaments, even the provision of reading material. The huge four poster bed was just so comfortable. Didn’t use the spa but it was a bonus. Didn’t use the Mini bar but it was enormously stocked with a variety of drinks and nibbles to suit all tastes. Air-conditioning was quiet and welcome relief to CQ heat. Dining room was welcoming as was staff.
No big deal but the luscious couch could do with a clean - obviously everyone wants to sit on it! Access to tv stations was limited to free to air and only a couple of channels at that.

Beautiful heritage listed hotel with period rooms. The bed was quite comfortable and spacious, and the spa bath was a nice touch. Reception was friendly and the check-in and check-out process were very easy. Property is directly across the road from an awesome pub with bullriding!
TV was quite old and not many of the channels worked, and we also couldn't connect our Chromecast to it. Wish they had different pillows as the ones we had in our room were a bit too soft. It can get quite loud as the hotel is located near train tracks.

For us, the Hotel had an old world ambience and charm about it. High ceilings, spacious room, large and comfortable bed, period furnishings. We consider ourselves simple folk and this was something special and different. Staff were present, available and friendly. Breakfast was ready, simple and filling. I appreciated the opportunity to leaf through and read a little Rockhampton History. Great initiative to use a beautiful old building in such wonderful way.
All good for us and no need or wish to write something simply to fill a box.

A rather interesting establishment. A renovated railway building from 1885 , with a plush decor from the period . My room was clean , comfortable and I had plenty of space . Had all the necessary conveniences. The spa in the room was a bonus !
A bit out of the way . On a dangerous intersection . No near by eatin* establishments open when I was there over a Monday / Tuesday . I would also prefer a more secure car park .
