the hotel has kept the original architectural features! Rooms are very big and bathrooms have been updates.

Amazing views of the beach and very friendly, helpful staff. The location is perfect and it feels like a safe area. Close to shops, beach bars and some great restaurants. Taxis always out front.

It was slightly run down and some things could have been cleaner, for example the curtains in the room had mould on them.

The location and the clean room

As Americans, I was disappointed with the breakfast. There seemed to be too many sweets and the savory dishes such as the eggs, meat and quiche were cold or undercooked. The fruit and coffee were great!

Breakfast was quite good. The location was perfect, right on the Copacabana beach and quite close to the nice restaurants. I highly recommend Marius situated in about 15 min of walking to the left side from the hotel. It's the best restaurant in my life, please visit it one evening if you read it and you will understand what I mean:) The beach was nice too, however a bit dirty and it was impossible to swim there because of the waves. The water was quite dirty too but we had nice beaches during that vacation in other places of Brazil before that so we didn't expect much from Copacabana and that's not why we came to Rio. The neighborhood was quite safe, at least at daytime and early evening.

There were no rooms with balcony and if there had been ones, we would have spent more and taken it without any doubt, to nejoy the view of the ocean early in the morning. The room with just a seaview window without a balcony didn't seem worth it. However this is the only complaint I have about the hotel, everything else was fine.

Everything is perfect in this hotel. Directly infront of the beach. Location is ideal in the center of Copacabana. Surrounded with everything like markets , souvenirshops, restaurants. The rooms are spacious and clean. I recommend sea view rooms as the windows in the hotel open wide and you make great videos and photos , or take a breeze. The staff are very very helpful and kind.

The breakfast buffet is disappointing. Area right along the main beach is not so safe! Right in front of the hotel, I Had a man rip off my necklace & headphones & ride off on a bike at 10am in front of a crowd! The gold necklace i had for 30 years!

The location in the middle of Copacabana Beach is top. And all personnel made me feel like a special guest—just as the reviews I read indicated. The hotel probably took advantage of COVID shutdowns to refurbish. My room and all common areas seemed newly painted and renewed. Everything functioned: Wi-Fi, fridge, shower, USB outlets, a/c. The hotel was built in 1949. One can enjoy—as I did—the glow from a past era in Brazilian history—marble and dark wood furnishings— and personnel who do everything possible to keep tradition alive.

One should not expect technical innovations and design of today. There are many other hotels—and much more expensive—on the Copacabana for that.
