Super friendly and helpful reception staff, great location and good vibes.

I stayed there 8 nights and my sheets weren’t changed once.

Great location and super friendly staff! Like any Selina, it has a bit of a party hostel vibe, but I also appreciated the little library/reading nook, it was perfect for a moment of peace and quiet. Beds were comfortable and clean, with a privacy courtain, power source, and lamp. Wifi was good all over. The bathroom in my room was spacious and had not just soap but also shampoo and conditioner dispensers.

My one annoyance is that the bathrooms have no counter space. It's basically just the sink sticking out of the wall and there's nowhere to place anything you might need to get ready.

The property definitely has a more budget hostel-like feel to it which I should have researched beforehand. However, the room I paid for was a private one with an ocean view and as soon as I opened my curtains I couldn't believe how stunning it was! If you want to be up close and personal with Copacabana Beach this is the place for you! It was a real highlight of my South American trip to take in the sea breeze and the incredible unobstructed view of one of the most famous beaches in the world- truly special. My room was really cosy and had lots of character to it from rugs, various charging points, cushions, art work and an extremely comfortable double bed (not two single beds put together as I experienced in a lot of places!). The shower and amenities were also above average. It was a good stay which I would recommend for budget-conscious travellers coming to Rio and wanting the true beach experience. Other notable things to mention were helpful staff who were very friendly, a shop downstairs with great souvenirs such as boutique ground coffee and lots of bathrooms and seating areas in case you needed to kill some time. The restaurant on the ground floor has nice outdoor seating and serves delicious authentic Brazilian food.

Breakfast was poor- it took a long time to arrive and then was missing various items. I think they were probably just very busy. One of the evenings the WiFi was down which was unfortunate as it was quite speedy throughout my stay. The air con in the room was from a bygone era and sounded like a jet engine when it was on- luckily I didn't need it much during my stay as it wasn't too hot but coming in the summer would be a different issue.

The location was wonderful. Copacabana Beach is right across the street! If you want to be close to the beach, this is a good choice. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Great recommendations and quick to solve a problem within our room. The room was clean and sufficient. We had a family room. It was a bit snug for our family of 4, but we made it work. If you travel with more than a carry-on, this might not work for your family of 4. The water pressure in the shower was great! Breakfast was delicious. The view in the breakfast room is breathtaking.

The window had a crack in it. But, a solution was quickly executed, so we didn't get eaten by mosquitoes at night. A few more places to hang towels in the family room bathroom would be helpful. It was odd that the room did not have a phone to contact the front desk. One of the beds was clearly a favorite and not very comfy. It happens.

Probably the best hostel I stayed in Brazil in terms of quality and what you get for the money. Common areas top notch (library and cinema rooms, restaurants on ground floor and top floor with good food, tours they offer and other services). The location in on the Copacabana beach for those who are interested, there are supermarkets near by and other shops, restaurants and some bars. There are lockers in the dorm and one built into your actual bed area, which makes you feel like your stuff are properly secured. Also, unlike many hostels I stayed in Brazil, you actually get a key card for the dorm so it's not open to the mercy of the world.

Nothing too bad to take off points, but sometimes when I was sleeping my legs bumped into the locket built in the bed area, which was super painful. The staff was helpful and always seemed busy, which probably caused most of them to appear a bit unfriendly. The restaurant at the top felt at times a bit chaotic with the way things were handled with the bills, cards, food delivery, etc.

The rooftop

The staff were taking a long time to process my booking upgrade, they barely speak english or Spanish which made it hard to communicate. I booked the room for 2 people and the other person has problems getting her wristband when she arrived hour after me. Their excuse was that I had someone else before who was my causing coming up to my room to say hi and we came down about 45 min after that. Most of their staff said to be "new" which made finding solutions pretty slow and confusing.

Very good location. The staff speaks also English and is helpful. Curtains around the dorm beds are great. Breakfast is good and there is a vegan option.

On the first morning it took almost an hour to get served breakfast, it could be a problem if you had to catch a tour etc at a certain time. Despite the quiet hours, people continued partying in the kitchen so sleeping next door was difficult.

I stayed in a female dorm and I liked the cabins in which we slept. They gave you a sense of privacy. The location is excellent. We had view of the beach from our room. The staff is helpful.

The only thing was that the wifi on my laptop kept kicking me out which was super inconvenient because I had to do some work. But eventually I managed.

The location is obviously perfect and very convenient, and the room were perfectly clean and comfy and nicely decorated. The room with a view is a very nice plus and the bathrooms were the best we had during our stay in Brazil.

The shared bathroom isn't very convenient and the smaller rooms are very small indeed (although perfectly comfortable and nice looking), which isn't a downside per se but rather an advice to spend a bit more and try the more expensive options (which I saw as well, because my parents were in a 'standard room').

Location of this hotel is amazing, if you want to be by the beach there really is no place better. Sea View rooms are filled with light probably the best view imaginable. The staff in the hotel (Lobby and restaurant) best hotel staff I have ever encountered. Friendly to the point that I am friends with all of them on instagram. I would ideally stay in Selina anywhere I travel now, this has changed my method of travel for the better. Restaurant had my favourite food in the whole of Rio.

Rooms could have been a little better kept, the showers seemed to have issues and the air conditioning wasn't really powerful enough.
