I knew I had picked a fantastic hotel when I was greeted by the friendly concierge who subsequently provided restaurant recommendations. Alt Hotel is in a great location in the up-and-coming East Village neighborhood of Calgary, close to the beautiful RiverWalk and the quirky neighborhood of Inglewood. I loved the hotel's digital fixtures, automated features, modern design, and overall comfort. Fantastic Canadian hospitality! And as a bonus, if you want to have some of the best cocktails you'll ever drink, walk over to a place called Standing Room Only Cocktail bar nearby. Would love to stay at Alt Hotel again.

We really liked the location near the Bow River/Riverwalk. Just a short walk to Fort Calgary, Inglewood, the city center, and the light rail to other city attractions. Nearby Sidewalk Citizen Bakery and Parlour Ice Cream were amazing! E-Bike Rentals across the street.

Sadly, the rooms had neither mini fridges nor safes. Initially, the front desk wanted a CAD $200 deposit per night (a whopping total of CAD $1,200!) if paying with a debit card. But, they finally agreed to a one-time CAD $200 deposit which was appreciated. The breakfast at the attached Chix Eggshop was a huge disappointment and borderline inedible. The East Village is a hip neighborhood near the Bow River, but there is a large homeless population. We did not feel threatened, though.

The Alt Hotel Calgary East Village offers a well-rounded experience that combines comfort, convenience, and luxury. While there are areas for improvement, the hotel's strengths in location and amenities make it a compelling choice for short and long stays. My repeated stays at the Alt Hotel Calgary East Village, starting shortly after its opening, have consistently offered a harmonious blend of modern comfort and local charm, making it my go-to sanctuary in Calgary.

Limited In-Room Dining: The hotel could benefit from an expanded in-room dining menu for those nights you want to stay in. Noise Levels: Being in a bustling area might mean it's not always the quietest, which could concern some guests. Parking: If you're driving, the parking situation could be challenging and incur additional costs. Local Partnerships: Could the hotel collaborate with local businesses to offer special deals to guests?

Perfect location! You can make yourself a little nespresso in the room while you get ready, then hop down to the Simmons building located literally across from the main entrance to the hotel, grab a coffee at the cafe in there, then pick up a pastry (or full breakfast) at the bakery that shares a space with the cafe! It's so central, you can walk to everything or take an Uber for 5 min. The staff at the hotel is also so kind. When we arrived late the other day, someone was ready to unlock the doors for us before we even exited our Uber. The cleaning staff is friendly, the front desk staff... everyone! Oh, and the beds are so comfortable, the views are great... It's wonderful.

The location was PERFECT. We were here for a concert and were able to walk to the venue, walk to get all of our meals, and happened to be there over canada day weekend and found the festivities were literally outside our door. The bed was very comfy, room was clean, and the addition of a nespresso machine was much appreciated. Love the rainfall shower with mood lighting. The breakfast place downstairs was decent enough and allergen friendly which was what drew us in. Staff were incredibly welcoming at check in. Definitely a higher end hotel which we would stay in again when traveling as a couple but likely wouldn't bring our kids to.

We were told our room had a fridge which is an important feature for us as we like to keep dinner leftovers for lunch when traveling to save some money. Unfortunately we were unable to find the fridge so unsure if it was false advertising or if we just missed it somehow. Price is a bit steep but again it is a higher end hotel in a very ideal location so it was worth it.

Breakfast wasn't included but we went to Chix Eggshop and had a really lovely breakfast. The only down side to breakfast was that the juice was served in plastic bottles (we try not to buy anything with plastic). The food at the Chix Eggshop was really, really tasty and memorable. My family is still talking about it. Our children loved the decor. They also love the view from the top floor of the building. They loved the fox picture on the glass for the bathroom. And they loved the high-tech buttons to open and close blinds, turn on/off lights etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The reception staff were super friendly and more than helpful, even sharing tips and tricks to make the most of the local parking options (note if you're driving: free parking is not included by the hotel). Our (corner) room was a great size, very modern, great wifi connection, and had great views to the north and north west over the river and east part of downtown. There are several eatery options - a restaurant and coffee shop on the ground floor (alongside the breakout area and pool table :) ) and several other options within a stone's throw. Of course being within Calgary itself you've got the entire city on your doorstep - all the cultural venues, museums, restaurants, etc. We're not afraid of getting our walking shoes on and were quite happy walking over to Calgary Tower, Stephen Street, Core shopping center, Peace Bridge (on the west of downtown), and coming back via Bow River and Prince's Island Park. Heading out to the east, it was also a quick pleasant walk to Inglewood along the RiverWalk (path that runs the length of the Bow River throughout Calgary) and back to the hotel via Fort Calgary. In short: a great location to explore all of Calgary downtown, Bow River, the islands, the north bank, and the east side of Calgary (Inglewood, Fort Calgary) - and being very close to the highway, it's a really easy spot to find coming in from the airport.

The location of this hotel is amazing, close to SIMMONS building which has coffee shop, bakery, pizzeria, restaurant and gorgeous rooftop. Also 20 minute walk to the heart of downtown. Restaurants and liquor store close by. Staff were very friendly - the lobby decor is super chic and fun. Room was smallish but very well kept and had everything you would need. Lots of linens, nespresso in-room, extremely clean with nice modern touches, big tv, black out blinds. I didn't want to leave this hotel! 10/10. CHIX restaurant was nice for lunch! had the chicken sandwich and it didn't disappoint. I will definitely return to this hotel when I am back in Calgary. Really appreciated the 12pm check out. Felt like a lot of value for the money.

Parking was expensive $30 per 24hrs... Unfortunately no discount provided to hotel guests. Would've been nice to know about the free street parking by staff. Elevatos were a little slow but didn't bother me. A more affordable dinner option on site would've been appreciated.

- room very clean and colorful - shower was pretty good - large bed - cool restaurant on ground floor - lot of techs in the room!

- my room was in front if the hvac, so i could hear lot of noise. - i reserved months ahead and requested a quiet room in a high floor . they gave me a room on floor 3 and in front if the hvac…. i think they should give more importance to customers requests, especially if reserved already months ahead. - the blind was not properly covering all window. in the early morning there was a lot of light coming directly to my face so I could not sleep well.

I've stayed at ALT Hotels in other cities, so I knew what to expect and ALT East Village delivered. The entire hotel was stylish, clean as a whistle, very comfortable and the service was excellent. I ate at both restaurants and was very pleased with my meals. The location is excellent, although I didn't have much time for exploring outside of East Village. Guess I will have to stay longer next time and see the rest of downtown Calgary! For those bringing Fido along: there is a popular dog park nearby.

I really wish there had been a small fridge in my room. That would be more convenient than using ice to keep my water, milk and other beverages cold. Didn't find a safe either. Were I staying longer, I would have brought along my laptop, which I like to 'lockup' while I'm out.
