The choices for the fully prepared breakfasts were excellent, the quality outstanding and Brad was so flexible in accommodating our special needs. Brad truly exemplifies the Newfoundland experience, a willing hand with any question or problem. We also appreciated the tips on what to see and how to get there including two very good restaurants.
The room and shower (plenty of towels and hot water) were fine but not outstanding. A second common room with local books were also available. The B and B was centrally located to Bonavista ,Trinity and Elliston ( for the puffins and root cellars).

Brad and Tanya greeted us on our arrival and even though we arrived early informed us that our room was ready. Brad was a great host explaining everything to us and giving us the grand tour. As it was lunch time we opted to have lunch there and boy was it tasty. Each of us enjoyed a very delicious bowl of clam chowder prepared by Chef Brad. Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed comfy. This b and b is fairly close to tourist attractions in the areas of Elliston, Bonavista and Trinity. A full hot breakfast the next morning did not disappointed. It too was prepared by Chef Brad and was so flavourful and appetizing.

Lovely location on the water in historic Port Union. Wonderful hosts, Brad & Tanya. The breakfasts were excellent - Brad is a great chef. Best toutons we had! The attached cafe was open for lunch/tea. You can also request a picnic lunch. Nice, large room with a view of the harbour. Excellent shower including handheld option. No air conditioning but fan provided and large windows are screened and seem safe to have open at night.
A comfortable chair or two in the room would be a nice addition. Parking is across the street and there are a number of stairs (no railing on some) to the main door, so this wouldn’t be good if you find stairs difficult (I have a bad knee so had to take care). There is also a long set of stairs up to the rooms.

Hosts were wonderful, and so was the made to order breakfast, delivered promptly at the time you requested. Room had a view of the bay. I like that the hosts ask guest to take their shoes off to go upstairs where are the rooms. Tips of what to do in the area, where to go, eat and watch. Port Union is being renovated, not only it has its attractions, but it's perfectly in between Trinity and Bonavista. You may even see moose on your drive back, which we did!
Weather, but no one can control that. Mattress was too soft for a traveling couple in their 50s. Would rather sleep on a firmer one.

We stayed in the Captain's Room for one night before switching to another room. This review is for the first night. The Captain's Room was comfortable with lots of space to store our luggage. There was a desk where we were able to set up our laptop. The owner, Brad, was very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was excellent. Choice of 3 types of breakfast including a traditional Newfoundland breakfast. Brad did the serving and was very attentive to ensure that everything was ok. Coffee was served during breakfast but there was also a Keurig coffee machine from which you could make your own coffee anytime during the day or night. Checking in could have been problematic as the owner does not live on site. We arrived at 8:30 pm to find a notice that after 4 pm, Brad returns to his home in the next street. There is a phone number to call in order to complete registration and get a key; unfortunately that would not have worked for us. Our cell phones did not work outside St John’s – the Rogers network is apparently non-existent in most of Newfoundland. Fortunately for us, that night Brad was still in the B&B and let us in. This is not a criticism of the Harbourside Inn but other guests may wish to take note of this.
The front door lock is difficult to open as the door does not fit well. We were told that this is a century old house and this is what happens. Fortunately, other guests were able to help us out by opening the door from the inside. We noticed that other guests experienced the same difficulty with the front door.

From the outside, the inn was deceptively modest until we entered the foyer. The entire facility has been updated and renovated to meet anyone’s modern needs. Our room had a very comfortable bed, crisp linens, and a nice large bathroom with walk-in shower. Our host was always available and attentive to our needs. Also, he was very knowledgeable about the geographic surroundings as well as the local attractions. To top it all, he served each of us a personalized and delicious breakfast!
The location was not optimal and the look of the outside of the inn could be improved.

Superb accommodation in every way. Easy check-in, convenient parking directly across the street, super clean and absolutely silent rooms. Full delicious breakfast - fresh and made-to-order. The rooms were extremely well though out - with everything necessary for a relaxing and comfortable stay. We’ve stayed in hundreds of b&b’s in Europe and North American and this is easy in out top 3 of all time. Thank you so much Brad for your hospitality and all-around excellent travel experience!
Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) was spot-on, perfect!

Nice clean large room with excellent view and the host was most accommodating and answered all of our questions. A full solid breakfast of your choosing is also included. I believe you could spend a couple of nights here and stay well occupied.
At checkout while processing my credit card I was presented with a "gratuities" screen (choose 15, 20, or 30%) which I have not previously experienced for lodging expenses. It was a surprise and I wasn't sure how to respond as I didn't know what the protocol is for tipping on lodging expenses in Canada.

I do not often choose a B&B to stay at but after looking at the pictures of Harborside Inn & Cafe I am so glad that I did something different. The pictures do not do the inn justice!! We were met on arrival bt Brad who gave us the tour, showed us our rooms and took our breakfast orders for the morning with our preferred time. The rooms were cozy, beautifully decorated, little fridge complete with water, TV with Netflix, robes and toilettries including soap made locally. Brad and Tanya have taken time and care to sure their guests feel at home...small things like the wifi code hung on plaques through house and suggested things to do in the 3 nearby villages and supporting local. We sat on the front porch for wine and a snack as the sun set before tucking in for the night. Brad's breakfast in the morning was fabulous...it will get us through our day definitely did not leave hungry. Highly recommend and we will be back!!!
We didn't stay long enough!!!

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay at this B&B. This is an old house that was recently renovated. The host Brad and Tanya did a great job in making the entire place feel very welcome. The rooms are beautifully decorated with all essential amenities available. They even provided books about local interests if you are into reading. The breakfast was excellent, with several options in the menu. Brad prepared this with care; you can see that he put his passion into cooking. He also has a lunch cafe running between 11 and 4pm. The location is right facing the water side. Port Union village looks like a dead village, but the people seems friendly. The nearest restaurant (apart from Brad's cafe) is 20 min away in Bonavista. If you are looking for a quite peaceful place to stay then this is the place.
The mini fridge in the room was making weird noises, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.
