There are many positive points to this hotel: 1. The staff were very friendly and had a good level of English. 2. The view from the rooftop is spectacular! It's a great way to watch the sunset over the bay. 3. The rooms were very spacious, with a huge bed. They also had a good spread for breakfast. 4. The location was also within walking distance of the major sites and restaurants on the hill.

There were a few very small things that didn't have too much of an impact on our stay, but are more to do with lack of attention to fine details from the hotel: 1. the mini-fridge in the room was quite noisy and runs during the night, so sleep was interrupted 2. the water heater did a great job of heating up water, but it was leaking, and our family had to advise staff as the dripping sound kept them up at night. This is something that should be routinely checked. 3. The kettle in our room wasn't working. It was promptly replaced which was fantastic

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Casa Galos, a beautiful boutique small hotel in Cerro Alegre. This was our treat to complete a month's holiday in Chile . The hotel is simply styled with eclectic pieces and natural furnishings; the high ceilings add a spacious feel and the roof terrace add a touch of drama with the view of the Valparaiso hills with the port and the Pacific ocean , almost too much to take in. We made food there, it was great to feel like we actually lived on Templemann street. The breakfast from 8.30am was fruit , cereal, cold meats, cooked eggs, toast and carrot cake. No big hotel chain rush just enjoy planning your day . Crockery and cutlery seemed brand new.

It was windy on ghe rooftop a couple of times but blankets were provided and the screens gave some protection. The bathrooms were shower in bath type rather than just shower cubicle. Quite hot at night in rooms but plenty of windows to open.

Great atmospheric place in a well located section of cero Alegre easy walk to many sites. Of course hills all over and this location was no exception. Wooden floors in the hotel were extremely nice. Staff were all friendly and helpful, especially Florencia. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit, yogurts, etc and eggs to order. We got an upgraded huge room with a great view and lux bathroom.

Exceptional view over Valparaiso from the roof terrace. The room was large and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast great. Eggs, meats, toast, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cake, coffee. The hotel is very well located well within walking distance to most sights. Lots of restaurants and cafes in the area. I loved that the hotel is in one of the traditional Valparaiso buildings. It's beautifully decorated in the local style and art but with attention to comfort and convenience. Wifi was fast and available throughout the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel.

My one gripe is no reflection on the hotel. It is difficult to get to Valparaiso from Santiago. You can either go by a cheap option - public bus or by very expensive taxi ie AUS$220 each way. It would be great to have a more middle ground option like a hotel shuttle bus to and from Santiago to various hotels in the area. I didn't have any dislikes at all for this hotel. It was lovely.

We stayed in Valpo for 2 weeks, and this was our favorite stay. Wish we had stayed here instead of the awful Airbnbs we tried. Excellent large complimentary breakfast. Loved the kitchenette so we could make food for the little one who needed to eat at non-Chilean meal times :). Every single staff member was super helpful, kind, and fun. The rooftop cannot be beat, and we tried many others in the area. Large clean bathrooms with hot water. Extremely comfortable bed and the sleeper bed as well!

Only disliked that we couldn’t stay longer.

I enjoyed breakfast - there was a spread of fruit, yogurt, granola/cereals, toast, cheese, ham, jam, etc, plus coffee and eggs made to order. The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated; our room was spacious; we spent so much time on the rooftop terrace. The location is perfect and within a short walking distance to many tourist draws and excellent restaurants. The staff were warm, welcoming, helpful, and fun to talk to. We really loved all the staff members who worked here. They made great recommendations for food and activities, and they went out of their way to be helpful and make our stay comfortable!

The only thing that bothered us is that we are getting older and the beds are a bit soft and springy, which was hard on our bodies.

The staff were very helpful, they even made us food to take because we were flying out before their breakfast. They made and left sandwiches in our mini fridge. A French press coffee maker was ready to fill, we had an electric kettle in the room. The location is great, but be prepared for lots of steep sidewalks and steps. The property also has a roof bar and you have a 180 view of the city and sea.

We liked everything but the steps. Not anything that they could do about that.

Location was perfect - easy walking to all the places of interest. Nice bars and restaurants only a few minutes’ walk away. Great to be able to park car right outside on street. Smarter area of the city too and the building and room had interesting features. Roof-top bar with fantastic views. Friendly staff and good breakfast.

excellent location to tons of restaurants and shops within walking distance. great modern decor, super friendly and helpful staff and a fantastic daily breakfast buffet with your choice of eggs. everyone spoke great English which is good if your Spanish isn’t the best. They also have a great little rooftop space with a fantastic view which has a bar open Thurs-Sat. We booked for 2 and stayed for 5 we loved it so much and the staff had a lot to do with that. The airline lost my bfs luggage and they not only helped call the airline (our Spanish wasn’t great) but they followed up, always updated us and helped with recommendations. The hotel doesn’t have parking but we always found free parking right out front. they’ve got cameras in some areas to watch it too. That being said you don’t need a car if you’re only staying in VALPO. the driving and streets are crazy and hilly so save yourself the heart attack and walk around, it’s the best part of discovering the city. definitely try a free walking tour to see the main sights when you arrive.

the only drawback was the WiFi. it was generally working in our room (the loft was around the corner with its own router) but sometimes it was down/bad signal. staff was always there to help try and fix it but the router is ancient and could def use an upgrade. But it worked perfect in the main hotel area where most of the rooms are.
