Probably the best location in Valparaiso for a short stay. The restaurant is beautiful and very good too. It's a very unique hotel, the architecture is very interesting, but beware that you might have to go up the stairs because of how it's built. Also, there are no TVs in the rooms, we didn't need one, but it might be important to others. There is no parking but you can find payed garages nearby for $10/day. We parked on the side of the street (for free) close to the hotel with no problems.

We were a little confused getting there, the GPS doesn't take you to the right location by car. It'll tell you you've arrived and that you have to walk up a super steep and long set of stairs, but you can actually continue to drive uphill and get a lot closer by car. Once there, you have to walk a short (sort of flat) distance, it's less than a block. We had to park in the middle of the busiest part of Valparaiso to drop off the bags. We were large family with a decent amount of luggage, it was a bit messy to get it done. Someone from the hotel staff was vey nice and helped us carrying some of the baggage.

The best place to stay in Valpo! A beautifully curated hotel in this funky, artsy city, The Fauna boasts stunning views over the streets of Valpo and to the sea at the port area. The Terrace bar/restaurant is an amazing spot to enjoy the sunshine over breakfast and people watch in the evening. It's got a real buzz and you can sit and watch the comings and goings of this fascinating place from up high. We simply loved our room with its two tall windows - Valpo is such an interesting place and I loved simply enjoying watching the City spring to life every day and the local cats stroll through the streets of edgy wall art. A super comfy bed and spacious bathroom was also a bonus. Dinner on the terrace was great - there's a good mix of people always from musicians to families (at breakfast) of different nationalities. A great place to enjoy a Pisco Sour or two and watch the sun set.

Nothing.

Fauna is world-class;it’s a cozy, chic, classy and comfortable way to experience the old and the new Valparaiso, tucked in the side of a mountain overlooking the neighbours’ roofs, the colourful, art-covered walls and the harbour down below. This is an architectural experience with firm, comfortable beds, an outside terrace where you can eat upscale comfort food served with a smile. The late Nobel-winning poet Pablo Neruda had a house a few blocks over that is a tourist Mecca: stay at the Fauna and you’ve one-upped him, the Fauna’s an ode in itself.

That I could not stay longer.

Artistic design on steep edge with lots of stairs, very beautiful design and deco. Location is perfect for Resturant and views of miles. However there is no lift or escalator so no good when you have mobility concerns or you have heavy luggage.

The toilet is leaking and became smelly after use. There is no kettle or cups for proper hydration, particularly if you have medical conditions and need water, simple chairs with table so no computer space. However there are plenty of public space you can utilise.

Loved my stay here - such an interesting design of hotel, perched against the hillside with a gorgeous view. the rooms were comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the terrace is just fab. Great location. Would definitely stay again.

The sound bounced around a little in the common areas, so it was a bit loud when other guests arrived home late. I didn’t have a problem with the number of steps to and from the room to the lobby and restaurant, but some people might find that difficult.

The architecture is truly amazing and the view from our room was spectacular. The decoration in the room was also very nice. It's nice to explore the area by foot from the hotel and plenty of good restaurants and bars around. The wifi in the room didn't work, but they found a solution with a signal amplifier.

Although the restaurant is good, the breakfast was a little disappointing. Both in terms of food, but also the service and atmosphere. You can tell they are busy prepping the lunch in the restaurant and the breakfast almost feels like a side hustle :)

One of the very best locations in Valparaiso. Large enough room, but no A/C -- but room cooled down nicely with the door open in the evening. Roof top bar has a great view; the menu was not that great. The breakfast at the roof top bar was very good. The staff is helpful IF you ask them. I think it's cultural. "You're here; so what". "Can you do help me with ____, then they are quite helpful." Just a different level of hospitality than in much of North America and Europe. Nice restaurants close by. The staff was helpful arranging parking for us (we asked 3 times), and in making a dinner reservation.

Nice hotel, lots of stairs and no A/C. Security was good (buzzers to get in to lobby). Many people advised us to always watch your belongings (don't carry your phone where it can be seen), that the area is only ok-safe in evening, and dangerous at night. There was quite a fracas coming from down the hill near the plaza with the Neptune statue one evening about 2 a.m., lots of yelling and many sirens.

Best hotel in Valparaiso, I was told by a tour guide. He's probably right. The receptionists are not the most helpful or friendliest, which is a surprise in Chile. Street noise can be heard from my room, but not too loudly, and it quieten down by midnight.. No wifi in my room #18 except by the doorway, but great in all the public areas. My corner room has a great view, though. Architecture of hotel is most interesting. No elevators in hotel. The location is great. The restaurant is excellent. Take the Ascensor 25 meters away to get down, walk to El Peral Ascensor, and get back up is a nice exploratory route.

Reception staff. No wifi in my room.

My friend actually ended up staying here as she couldn't stay in the house I had booked due to a cat allergy - but i came to the Fauna hotel myself for lunch and drinks with her and also saw her room and bathroom. I loved the hotel - it's both modern but rustic at the same time. The room was very simple but with a spectacular view and high ceilings with a lovely big bathroom. The restaurant and bar is great - food and wine are excellent and, again, with great views.

My friend had no complaints!

Great location with fantastic views. Amazing restaurant on roof. Close to the art scene and street elevator. Silly of me to mention it, but I loved their shower. Great water pressure and so warm/hot. Very relaxing!

No mirror in the room, only in the bathroom. Esthetically, I understand why there is none. But for practicality, maybe one can be located next to the entry door. When one person is using bathroom, another can get ready in room.
