Aroma Tea House offers perfect hospitality in Guilin! The staff are friendly, patient, helpful and kind. The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, bright and beautifully furnished with antiques and classic Chinese paintings and sculptures. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet is wonderful, and served in a room with nice views of the surrounding area. The location is perfect for walking to most of the favorite tourist sites, such as the sun and moon pagoda, Elephant hill, and the departure dock for Li River cruises.

Booking.com shows pictures of the two best rooms with a view of the lake. The two best rooms in this beautiful hotel-- on the third and fourth floor-- no longer have those views. The trees around the lake have grown too tall and blocked the views which were advertised. They are still very nice, comfortable and quality rooms-- just without the view. Second small complaint is that there are some music/singing performances which take place in the adjacent park, which is literally under your window. These can be quite loud, and lasted until about 10 pm on at least 2 nights of our 5 day visit.

Basically everything about the hotel was great. First of all, the reception speaks good English, which is an unusual about China. They are also very nice and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable and really well designed. We loved the sitting tea area next to the window. A marvelous idea! Bathroom was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was truly delicious. The last but not least the location of the hotel is within walking distance from Guilin’s main attraction and the wide series of great reastaurants

Basically all was great

This hotel is gorgeous! Stepping inside feels like one has time-traveled to a different era. Wood, stone, tile, carvings, paintings, and sculpture abound. The setting is elegant, serene with a warm and welcoming staff who are engaging and quick to accommodate the traveler’s needs. Even though we arrived late, they arranged a tea tasting for us later that night, with Rose who taught us about the proper way to drink tea, and gave us wonderful information about the area. Before we arrived, we had communicated with the Aroma staff and they arranged a fabulous tour of the Longji Rice fields for us and even organized a very early breakfast with the cooking staff so that we eat before being embarking on the tour. We really appreciated the unique and traditional Chinese style and atmosphere of The Aroma Tea House. The room furnishings were exquisite and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the window seat tea bench - a perfect place to to start the day with a cup of tea. The breakfast featured both the famous Guilin rice noodles and also Western style choices in a rooftop salon. There are several outside patios, one with covered seating. The hotel offers laundry service - welcome benefit on a long trip. Another great asset is that The Aroma Tea House is right in the heart of Guilin, across from Ronghu Lake, walking distance to many sights. Guilin is a magical city. The climb to the top of the Karst hill at the Prince’s Palace at sunset is stunning. Karst scenery is the backdrop to a diverse and decorated skyline. Once darkness arrives, the city comes alive with lights everywhere and the iconic Sun and Moon Temples towering over the water create a carnival for the eyes. Musicians and dancers spill out along the walkways. We wished we had allowed more time in Guilin to enjoy the generous hospitality of The Aroma Tea House. We highly recommend this beautiful and unique hotel. One of a kind!

-beautiful property, very well-maintained, with numerous amazing antiques and art-work throughout -large room, with big windows overlooking the lake and a great nook for enjoying a cup of tea; thorough cleaning and fresh towels daily -lovely staff who were always available for questions and to provide assistance and help. They also helped us organize trips to the rice terraces and the Li river cruise, as well as transport to and from the airport and everything went smoothly and we very much enjoyed both trips with no stress! -there is the option to get a massage - do it, great massage particularly if you enjoy a "harder" touch.

The staff were amazing. They helped organise all of our transportation and excursions in advance and explained everything to do in the area whilst welcoming us with some delicious ginger tea which was really appreciated. The hotel was really tastefully decorated.

We booked the family two bedroom suite for a group of 4 of us and whilst there were 2 separate bedrooms, the bathroom was attached as an en-suite to one of the bedrooms which was not very convenient as it meant entering someone else’s bedroom to use it. The room was also very cold in winter due to two large windows (beautiful views but freezing!). Would definitely stay at Aroma Tea House again but we would book 2 separate rooms instead of the two bedroom suite.

Wonderful hotel in every way. Lovely location on the lake. Easy walk to all the fun activities at night - lighted features on the lake, music, tourists enjoying Guilin. The room was large and spotlessly clean. It had a beautiful view and a cute tea nook. The breakfast was satisfactory, in a nice light-filled room. The front desk lady at reception patiently explained everywhere we should go and what the best restaurants were. The price was low, especially for what we got. One of my nicest stays in China. Very charming town, both touristy section and areas for local people.

Nothing worth mentioning.

Very convenient and central location by the lake and a pleasant walk to the central / market area, staff speak fluent English, are friendly and were very helpful with booking cars and tours, very clean premises. You can book (and pay for) onsite massages which was also super convenient. Beautiful breakfast room also. Overall, great value.

Nothing, the hotel is as advertised and great value. It’s a boutique hotel with traditional Chinese design so don’t expect 5 star international hotel style facilities. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay there.

The best staff I have ever met: so nice and kind, so helpful and they speak English. Before we came, they provided very detailed information about excursions which they can organize. We booked a trip to the Rice Terrace and Li-river cruise to Yangsho (I can recommend both, it's very beautiful places!). We didn't have to worry about organisational details, we were told where, when and how we should go and we able to enjoy the trips. Another small but nice touch: during check-in, the air conditioning was turned on in our room, so once all the formalities were completed, the room was pleasantly cool - very pleasant after the afternoon hit. They also gave us a map of the city, showed us interesting places and recommended places to eat. The room itself was big and clean with a panoramic window where you can sit and enjoy tea using the provided Chinese tea-set. The hotel restaurant is located on the fifth floor and has an incredible view of the river and mountains. Also, outside of the room there is a terrace where you can air and dry clothes. The hotel is decorated in a traditional style, but at the same time it is equipped with all modern amenities and is very comfortable. Location is very good: close enough to walk to many different points of interest and food-street.

Some small things that couldn't ruin our stay: there is no fridge in the room, European sockets worked, but a plug doesn't hold well, no wardrobe (but there is a small hanger).

If you are looking to enjoy what Guilin has to offer, do not hesitate to book this hotel. Everything was excellent, and I was made to feel very welcome. The receptionist "Juuga(?)" was most polite, kind hearted and helpful; sending me various locations of spots to go (pagodas, flute reed cave, night markets, famous goose restaurant, lakes / elephant trunk hill) and helping me set up the Yangshuo cruise tour. I would not have enjoyed Guilin as much as I did had I not come to this hotel - I would've been clueless. I also have an extremely cut figure at the moment and am on a ketogenic diet, they prepared breakfasts for me as well to meet my needs, which was included in the price. The room was beautiful, cosy and warm.

I liked everything.

The staff and service are excellent! They all went above and beyond! Special mention to Zhuge, Rose and Ida who were always so helpful and Zhuge who had the best food recommendations! They organise all the tours and also had in-house full-body & foot massage which was very relaxing after a long stay. Location is excellent.

Everything was very good, but if I had to pick one thing, then I would say that the breakfast could perhaps be of a bit more higher quality / variety. But it was still a good one, especially for the early morning tour start.
