Everything about this place was fantastic. The location is ideal: close to transit and major sights, and the value for money is unbeatable. A huge thanks to Joe, the host, who made the trip unforgettable. His genuine kindness, local expertise, and enthusiasm were next-level. He suggested hidden sunset spots, top-notch restaurants, and sorted out transport effortlessly. His passion for helping guests shines through, and by the end, it felt like staying with a friend, not just a host. If you want a welcoming, affordable, and well-located spot, Cyan Box (and Joe!) is the answer. Don’t miss it! Highly recommended!

It's not the most convenient place, but really affordable and tailored to backpackers. More international travellers than elsewhere, so you can easily connect here. Joe speaks really good English and organizes you trips for the boat to Yangshuo, to Longij, etc. You also get many tips for trips and there are activities in the hostel. Bus stop was just a few meters away.

The one guy on the reception was quite unhelpful and always seemed annoyed when asked a question. The shower and sanitary situation was a bit annoying (only one shower with hot water).

The room was very comfortable! Huge bed, natural ligth, big room, they gave us flip flops, towels, brush teeth and others cleaning implements. Related to the price we paid really we felt in a 3 stars hotel. Thanks for everything. Very good service guys ! Keep this quality and improve it 👌✨️

Just one thing to improve, put a division between the shower and the bathroom, then it does not water outside. Also, some renovations are necessary in the room, painting, floor, and details like the position of the air conditioner. It's just in front of the bed and when it's turned on it's cold very fast.

BEST HOST EVER

The rooms are clean and comfy and the common room is super nice. What sets this hostel apart from others is the owner and the staff. They helped us with our trip to the rice terraces and gave us tips for the best bamboo rafting experience, which was amazing. The owner helped us get a driver from and to Yangshuo even after checking-out of the hostel. One of the female staff also helped us book Didi, so we get better price. We got food reccommendations and in general everyone working there is super friendly and helpfull, which made for an amazing experience. Would definitely come back.

The staff was nice. As soon as we checked in, they helped us book the cruise to Yangshuo and then showed us everything there was to do in Guilin. Their recommendations were great. The room was spacious and comfortable. There were many other foreigners, so it was a friendly atmosphere.

There were five mosquitoes in our room, so we had to spend 45 minutes to hunt them all down. The staff didn't give us much information about the cruise, so we were left a bit in the dark. Also, the reception wouldn't open until 9 AM, but we were to check out and leave at 7.30 AM. It would have been very helpful to have more information on the cruise since they booked it for us: at least give us the website or even just the name of the company, so we could research a bit by ourselves as well, just to know what to expect.

Long and Luca were great! Good information always helpful and very cheerful. Great guys. Location short walk from center but Didi is like 10 yen or something. Willadvice others to come here great place.

The bathroom door of 301 shreiks like a pig getting slaughtered haha. Maybe just get rid of that door. Info about tours is good but can be bit more specific such as alsp Informing about the amount of driving to ferry etc. Longsheng rice terrace tour was great value.

It was great! I had a very good time at this hostel. The staff speaks very good english and is very helpful with everything. Special thanks to zoey who helped me solving an issue i had at shenzhen station!! You can also book tours in the hostel (e.g li river cruise) and get recommondations for what to do in guilin. The single rooms are big, clean and confortable. Would definitely stay again.

The staff is very very friendly and speaks good English. You can chat with them on Wechat even before you arrive in case you need any information. Moreover, they actually care about the guests, they take time to chat and ask you if there is something in particular you want to know to make the best out of your time in the city. They have a variety of organised tours and activities and even gave me a few tips on transportation (I went to Yangshuo and then came back to Guilin, so they helped with that). You can get breakfast directly at the hostel as well as drinks and other stuff too. They have two rooms with chairs and tables and one day there was a guy playing the guitar and singing. It is not central central but in 15 mins on foot you can easily reach the city centre or take the bus (bus stop right in front of hostel). You can also take the bus to go to Guilin railway station (bus 10), and it is quite close to wast Station as well. It is right in from of the Seven Star park which is a lovely park with monkeys freely roaming around. The street also has a university which means it has a lot of good places to eat at cheap prices as well as lots of snacks (lots of bingfen stores), but the hotel is very quiet. You can also use the washing machine and hang clothes there. The rooms are like in the pictures and overall even if you get a double room I think it is amazing good value for money.

Just a few very very minor things. The entrace and especially the corridors are quite messy with mattresses and beddings just left there, but it's not an inconvenience. Most rooms have windows on the corridors so unless you are okay with everyone seeing you, you will need to keep the curtains closed. No Visa or Mastercard accepted.

The staff were amazing. They did everything to make guest feel safe and comfortable. They are so kind and friendly, and give guests useful information and advices (they taught me some beautiful parks which have no entrance fee). They also arrange tour if requested. The property was so clean and comfortable. I stayed in the female dormitory room, and there was bunk beds which I felt wide enough, proper air conditioner, perfect hot shower(shared), and so on. I would say everything is managed properly here. I also liked the atmosphere of common space. Location was so good especially for budget travelers. There are several local restaurants where you can eat Guilin rice noodles for just 5~8 yuan. All of them are within 2min walk, and the nearest one is in just 30m or so from the hostel. There is also a small supermarket just next to the hostel, where you can buy drinks or snacks. For sightseeing, Seven Star Park(entrance fee:55 yuan), the largest park in Guilin, is just 2min by walk, and lovely local markets within 3~4min.
