I had the presidential suite, which was massive. It was exactly my taste in decoration with antiques. The pool was nice to cool down and the breakfast was nice. I liked the look of it all and its location. The beds are quite hard but I like that.

The 2 air-conditioning units are not strong enough to work up against the immense heat of Santa Marta. The one in the smaller bedroom is able to cool down that room, but I chose to sleep in the main bedroom. I only stayed one night and not on a weekend which was good because other visitors told me that the rooftop adjacent to the presidential suite and the private roof terrace of the presidential suite gets really loud at night.

I stayed here before I went on the hike to ciudad perdida and afterwards. The place is so lovely and huge and they are very able and happy to keep your belongings for you when you are on the trek. For me it was a perfect place to rest and relax with the lovely pole and surroundings. The staff are really lovely and helpful, the rooms are a good size / breakfast is lovely.

There is nothing about the property I didn’t like. Santa Marta itself as a town was not something I liked as much but I came there for the trek to the lost city with expotur which is conveniently located 1 minute away (and a very recommended tour operator) so for me I had a great experience

The location is right in the centre of town with walking distance to the seafront, the shops and the walking street with full of restaurants. The house is a beautiful antique house renovated with modern facilities like hot water, air conditioner and a small lovely swimming pool to cool down after walking in the heat of Santa Marta. Room can be paid by card on-site. We can hear music from the nearby bar in the bathroom but once the massive heritage door is closed, you sleep well with not even a little noise. TV also have Netflix which we didn't expect at all since there are too many things around to do rather than watching TV. The staff is also lovely, there is always at least 1 staff from 7 am to 10pm and they also agreed to wash our sweaty clothes in-house saved me going to a laundry shop.

Nothing really

We had a short but great stay at Casa Gaitana. The room and the hotel are both great, with a unique style that has a lot of personality. The common areas are really great, but the best thing of this place is Diana, a lovely staff member who is a STAR and made us feel super important, looked after us like proper 5-star guests and took care of everything we needed with a smile. She is the best and we already miss her!

The pool was not working well when we arrived, but they fixed it the next day. Also the wi-fi wasn't working at all, so make sure you ask for the password for all the networks they have (3 or 4 different ones) so that if one fails, you have a backup.

Our room was the enormous and beautiful presidential suite. It was wonderfully air conditioned, which was a welcome respite from the intense heat of the city. The pool area also was refreshing to relax in. The hosts took a lot of pride in their place and provided us with several different desserts upon arrival and later on that day. The breakfast was made to order, and the eggs and arepas were excellent. It was well located for exploring Santa Marta, and was a short walking distance from the waterfront and restaurants.

The colonial house is said to be 300 years old, and a gem inside. Beautifully decorated, the rooms/suites with high ceilings, comfortable bed, enough space. Great pool in the patio to unwind and cool down. Very good breakfast and super friendly staff.

Can be noisy at night, with the music from bars and discos nearby. The lounges at the pool are hard as the wood they are made from. The practically non-existent light in the bathroom. Great for ignoring wrinkles, but try to paint one’s face 😉

Location is great, but the downside is that there is noise at night. The hotel supplies ear plugs. Breakfast was at another hotel in the Alma group due to an issue with the gas, and it was fine. The setting is beautiful, only 4 rooms, stunning building and a lovely little pool.

Room 3 is quite small, which I knew beforehand. And as mentioned, there was some street and music noise but it quietened down later.

Our stay was simply amazing. The house is very beautiful and 300 years old. Both room and common spaces were huge. You can use the kitchen and make yourself tea or coffee. The stuff was always attentive and very polite. The breakfast which was included was exquisite. Pool was very clean and refreshing. There is a big tv in the room with Netflix, Disney and more. We booked one night after the lost city trek, so we came exhausted and really managed to recover our energy here. If I came again to Santa Marta I would stay 1000%!!! We really recommend this place.

Beautiful old building in a great location for exploring Santa Marta. Comfortable bed and great AC in the room. Very friendly staff who let us store our bags there for free whilst we did the Lost City trek. Good breakfast - juice, coffee, fruit, granola, eggs and arepas.

The hot water occasionally cut out- but the shower was still nice. No sign outside made it slightly tricky to find (it’s Casa del Pozo)- but again, no big deal!

The warmest welcome from Diana and the other staff were very friendly and helpful . Lovely old style room. Clean and comfortable . Only 4 rooms so peaceful atmosphere and open, public spaces to share. Delicious breakfast . Central location.

Central location means noise at night - especially music from the restaurants . Earplugs get around this. Room was a little dark but then this was because it was cool and shaded.
