Great location and very close to the bus station Grand Hotel. I arrived late but I was able to find some decent meal within a walking distance.

I was told my room was number 4 and bed number 4, as I got in I could easily find my room as numbers where on all room doors and then I started looking for the bed number 4. I thought the numbers could be written somewhere but I couldn't find any number, so I just picked the one I thought it was the forth according to beds arrangement. I hope I didn't disturb other guest when I was searching for "number 4" with my flashlight on.

Hostel John Galt enjoys an enviable location that truly can't be beaten, situated right in the pulsing heart of Brno. This prime positioning makes it an ideal base for exploring the city, with easy access to local attractions, dining, and nightlife. The hostel's design is tastefully done, blending modern aesthetics with functional spaces, particularly noticeable in the common areas where guests can cook and prepare meals. This adds a nice touch of home-away-from-home comfort which is especially appreciated by those looking to stay in and enjoy a quiet evening. The staff, mainly managed by one individual who both lives and works there, deserves a special mention. He was friendly and exceedingly helpful, providing assistance and local knowledge that greatly enriched my stay. It's clear he is deeply invested in the hostel; however, the intensity of managing such a busy establishment single-handedly sometimes showed through in moments of apparent frustration. While this was slightly off-putting at times, it didn’t significantly detract from the overall positive interaction.

While the larger dorm room occasionally had an unsavoury smell that came and went, the smaller dorms did not seem to share this issue. It’s a minor concern but one that would enhance the overall comfort if addressed. Unfortunately, the elevator was out of service during my stay, which meant frequent treks to the top floor. While not ideal, it was manageable and did little to dampen the experience of a city-centric stay. The price point is notably high for a hostel, which may influence budget-conscious travellers.

The location was amazing. Everything I needed was within walking distance. Everything looked great and clean. Personal was really nice. We all had a lil' lamp by our beds that was adjustable and the common room was fabulous. I felt really nice while working on my project there ^^.

Just wanted to say that the bathroom could use a bit more love, but I could see that it was in progress so amazing ^^. Fix one of your water tabs please, it was loose. Like a lot xD.

Everything. The place was in the center, close to the train and bus station. It was clean and well-equipped. There was good wifi. The receptionist was very helpful in everything I needed, he even managed to let us fo the check in earlier than the official time, with my friend and leave our baggages there. After check out, it was still pkay to be in the common area until your bus came or leave your luggage there.

The only thing I would have loved is a curtain on the small window in my bedroom, even though, no one could see in.

Location and affordability

The lockers. As people travel they will atleast carry a medium-sized bag and there are some lockers in your hotel which isn't enough to store belongings while going out to visit the places. I would suggest that you guys can put some locker system under the beds itself i.e, 2 cabinets under the bed locker a and locker b with locks for each bunk bed which can slide outside to access and when not in use put it back to its original position.

A great week in a great hostel. Very kind, helpful and welcoming staff. Allowed to keep luggage and to wait inside for my next transport late in the evening. Central location: landmarks, restaurants, supermarkets, train and bus stations nearby within a short walking distance. Clean space and bathrooms. Speedy wi-fi and big enough common space. Calm atmosphere during days and nights inside as well as no disturbing noises outside. Big kitchen with all necessary equipment, laundry available. Thank you very much, I definitely plan to come back to Brno and to John Galt Hostel. Highly recommend!

The staff is amazing. You can have ling coversations about history and many interesting subjects, also good guides. I really enjoyed the fact that this is that type of hostel where you are invited to have conversations with other people form different parts of the globe. I slept a night in the room for 4 people and another night in the room for 8. Just a tip for everyone:) if u want to sleep, go to the room with 8 people, cause in the one with 4, you may find some nice guys and have a cool conversation with them for the rest of the night.

Perfect location in the city center and close to the main bus and train station. Safe place, comfortable and clean. The staff explained everything.

As it’s an attic apartment with no AC in the bedrooms, it can get quite too hot to sleep on certain beds in the biggest dormitory on some summer nights.

The hostel was in the center. Beds, common area, toilets and shower were clean :) In the kitchen you can find everything more than enough; microwave, coffee machine, kettle.. The staff was really kind. He answered my whole questions It was a bit challenging as a introvert.. The hostel was cozy, beds were comfortable.

Overall a nice place for a night or two. Bed was comfortable and had a privacy curtain which is a great touch! Small lamp and power plug next to the bed. Kitchen had the essentials. Bathroom was okay. The shower was fine. The toilets are quite small (just to be aware if you're a larger person). Guy on reception was friendly and helpful.

Nothing that is in the hostels control. The only downside is because it is quite central its a bit noisy outside, however this was a weekend too. Just bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper!
