The location alone is phenomenal! It is literally in the heart of the Colonial Zone. About a 1 min walk from Columbus PArk (where are the pigeons are). The hotel staff are all very welcoming and very friendly, from the check in crew to the housekeeping crew. All are very nice and respectful. I've stayed here before and certainly plan on staying again in the future. I arrived pretty early like about 10am, which is way earlier than check in at 3pm. The lady at the front desk remembered me from my previous stay which was very nice and I wasn't expecting. I was accommodated and was able to check into my room at about 1130 which was very nice of them to do. When handing over the key to me she said that she was able to give me the same room as last time, which again, I can't believe she remembered the room too. That type of hospitality and service is what keeps me coming back. Now getting to the room. It's a pretty standard room. The beds and pillows are AMAZING!! I like hard mattresses and my friend likes softer mattresses, but we both raved about how each our beds were super comfortable. The bathroom is the only downside to this room, it's very small. I'm. 6'1 230lbs. It's maybe the size of a "red London telephone booth". I don't put this is the "what I didn't like" section because the hotel has no control over the size of their bathroom, its already there. There rooms were very clean. The AC is AMAZING! Very convenient location close to many restaurant and the Main Street. Another good thing about the rooms is that they're located in the back of the hotel, so you don't get any of the street noises. There is a very nice balcony that you can enjoy some coffee, food, or drinks on. I've stayed at a couple hotels in the Colonia zone but this one by far takes the cake, the location is literally everything!

the location is amazing! right around the corner from Parque Colon and a whole bunch of restaurants, bike rentals, and a whole bunch of nice picturesque cobblestone streets. it’s called a hostal but you get more of a hotel feel to it, which is great. each floor is accessible by a short staircase which doesn’t feel like you’re climbing too high. the AC was working good in my room and the hot and cold water was too. the young lady in the front desk was very welcoming and made the check out process fast and even asked us which floor we preferred. my room had a couple windows but none facing to the front/ Main Street, but each floor has a large balcony with about 4 seats and a table with the street/ front view.

like most of the reviews say, the bathroom is extremely small. I’m 6’1 and i had a very hard time moving around in the shower. to sit on the toilet i had to move around a certain way. to brush my teeth i had to do it with the door open because i wasn’t able to bend down with the door closed. they don’t provide water bottles in the room but they have them for sale down in the reception. when you’re room is cleaned, they turn the AC off, i guess it’s to save energy, but just remember that.

I think that you can add more varieties in the breakfast menu. But that was great anyway . My stays at Hostal la colonia have been good. I appreciated the setting, the welcome and the service. they met my expectations. and the hotel is very well located too. I think it is a hotel to recommend for more tourists.

The room or maybe the house globally was humid. If there are something they can do to remove the humidity that will help.

The staff was wonderful…very helpful…24/7 security…provided transport to/from airport…will stay again…asking distance to local bars and restaurants…

Lol same as everyone stated was small bathroom was like a closet…but was very clean and semi comfy despite size.

We took a two queen size bed room for three people located at the end of the hall on the 4th floor. The hotel was very centrally located in the Colonial Zone which was great as it's 30 seconds away from all the restaurants. Despite being located in the hustle and bustle of the city, there was no noise from the outside and we got a good night of rest. The beds were comfy. Each floor also had a nice communal sitting area and balcony. They also offered coffee and tea downstairs in the lobby.

The wifi wasn't working in our room though it seemed ok in the downstairs lobby.The bathroom was extremely small, especially the shower, so it would be difficult if you are a larger person as I am small and even I had trouble taking a shower in the cramped space. There is no elevator so if you have heavy luggage, you'll be lugging it up the stairs (although the personnel offer to help you of course).

Good location, in the middle of everything. Very good breakfast in a restaurant in Parque de Colon. Hot water. Enough spacious room. Friendly staff. Good value for money.

I was asking for a room with a window, but my room had only a very small window under the ceiling, covered with a curtain facing the internal corridor. So no daylight in the room at all. Most of the rooms in this hotel are like this. The noise of the street during the weekend disturbed me while I'm not super sensitive to it. The shower was extremely tiny - I'm fit, but even I was struggling manoeuvring between the wall and curtain, finally all the water was on the floor.

We spend our first honey moon night here and it was SPECTACULAR, the hotel coordinated our transportation from the airport to the hotel, also they provided all type of recommendations of the zone, and they provided additional information regarding transportation to Punta Cana. The bed was soooo comfortable and the whole bedroom was clean! Very quite even though is on the heart of the colonial city! Breakfast included was so good, and the restaurant was close!

Great hotel, cosy and clean, big comfortable bed. Helpful staff. The hotel is located right in the center of the colonial area but it's very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended. I would definitely stay there again next time I visit Santo Domingo.

As advertised, centrally located in Colonial zone, all facilities at a reasonable price. The staff were amazing, made calls to Caribotours for me, helped me smilingly when I got locked out, and even did my laundry for a nominal tip! Highly recommended. The breakfast at the place next door was great too.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the colonial area there were lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The breakfast provided at Tribu on the plaza was wonderful.
