The location was perfect. We just left our car in the parking lot near the hotel and went everywhere by walking. The parking lot was free for hotel customers. Our room was huge and comfortable. It was also very clean. The breakfast was nice as well.

The only negative thing is the stairs, where the walls and floors were dirty with a weird smell. But we just avoid this by using the elevators and it didn't bother actually.

Beautiful location -- but the location was also a bit of a problem. The views were great, but located on a busy street, and because there is no A/C -- you'll need the windows open on a hot evening and night -- so the noise and constant stream of cars and motorcycles is a bit much. If you can keep the window shut, it's not a problem. Free parking is a great thing too.

The room could benefit from a small a/c unit or at least a fan. Other than that, the room itself was great and the staff were very nice.

The location could not have been any better - right by the river and close to absolutely everything. The place certainly had a lot of character. It looked a bit half-finished in places... Having said that, our room for three people was huge with a jacuzzi bath! But again, it’s not for the “picky” - but we liked it a lot! The free parking was a great perk and the staff was super friendly with excellent English!

There were no black-out curtains, so it was pretty light in the room early in the morning. Also, had it not cooled down significantly at night, we would have died under the roof, as there was no aircon or even any fans.

Very helpful staff. Central location right next to historic heart of the city

There are louts on loud bikes and cars that roar up and down the historic residiential streets at nights so quiet nights not to be expected (at least when we were there in August). Also, the underground garage they use appears to be lined with decades old white asbestos flux in a very poor condition. I did alert the receptionist to this possibility and showed photographs. If you're arriving by car I suggest you bring good facemasks to use in the garage area.

The hotel is at the centre of the old Metz with a lot of restaurants, bars and cafes in the vicinity. Hotel has a free parking garage with stain that go directly to the hotel. The room was very comfortable and warm. My room had a side view of the cathedral. The breakfast was well-priced and quite good. The lady at the reception recommended the the El Théâtre restaurant. My son and I had one of the most delicious dinners of our vacation.

We read the reviews on booking.com that said the rooms were not clean. I think many people seem not to see the difference between cleaners and spotlessness. With some investment this hotel could be a fantastic place to stay. For example, if carpets would be replaced with laminaat or tiles. Then it would be easier to clean. The baths could be replaced with showers and the bathroom washing basin could be more practical so that water does not go to the floor.

I read sime bad reviews so was prepared for the worst. But it was actually a very nice and special place. Yes some humidity stains here and there. But the nice atmosphere, the location made up for a lot. And the soecially located pool was quite cold but you don’t feel that after 20 seconds. And from then on it’s pure joy.

Can’t think of anything, really. No hairdryer maybe?

Deceptively nice hotel very near the town centre with free parking underground. Quirky hotel inside but really nice and by the river. Metz was entertaining with plenty of choice for bars and restaurants, boats were available for hire but it was too hot really.

Nothing in the hotel but the route to the car park was dirty and a bit run down.

Nice size older room with view of the pool and a pond, comfortable for us and the location was excellent with a short walk to Cathedral and the surprisingly excellent shopping precinct, very pedestrian friendly!

Bit noisy with window open at times even though a fairly quiet spot - conversations carried! Parking at St Marcel tight corners going in

If you are staying in the hotel in the summer, the swimming pool experience is an added plus and very authentic! Location is ideal and it is very convenient if you are looking for a central spot with partking

The building is dated and the rooms can be hot if temperatures are above 28 degrees but a fan was provided and the windows open perfectly

Parking right next door to hotel, very central and in a quiet street. Underground parking was cool and discreet - i felt that i could easy leave me belongings in car. The lighting in the room was very relaxed and the breakfast was excellent!

There seemed to be a lot of negativity about the hotel - ignore that it if you are going for a budget, central hotel with good parking. i had medium expectations and it exceeded them.
