We were pleasantly surprised by the Altona Hotel. Some budget hotels in Paris can be terrible and we booked last minute after our Eurostar got cancelled and we decided to extend our trip, so we weren't expecting much. We asked for a quiet room, and it really was actually silent. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the shower was good with constant hot water. Don't get me wrong, it's a budget hotel and it looks it in the communal areas. But the room was actually spacious, clean and safe, we slept well even though it was an extremely hot day, and there was no noise from the corridor or the street. I have a lot of experience of cheap Paris hotels and believe me, this is very rare! The street is actually really nice too and has lots of nice cafés and bars just a few minutes walk away, and you're right on the edge of the 10th (the coolest area in my opinion!) and also really near to Montmartre walking. If you need somewhere to stay that's convenient for the Eurostar and you're planning to be out all day and you're on a budget, you can't really fault it.

Nothing in particular - if you know Paris then you know Barbés isn't the most beautiful area, but honestly you don't feel like that's where you are. People say it's dangerous around Gare du Nord and Barbés but I lived nearby for six years and honestly it's fine, don't keep your phone in your back pocket and have your wits about you but it's genuinely a safe street that the hotel's on

So quiet and so close to the main road. Remarkable!! Was easy to sleep. Love the view out of the room of the little courtyard. The cookies were a nice treat and the water-so hard to find in France!!. And the room was clean. Thank you!!

Booked this place above other hotels from memories of the exquisite breakfast we had here years ago. My husband and I came with my parents who had booked the hotel. I was dreaming of the breakfast before arrival but understand the difficulties of COVID. I hope the breakfast returns in the future!!

Just a cool place to sleep, you dont go to paris to sit in a hotel, you are out and about all day and most of the night, this is a great place to stay in the best area, food, shops, travel, sites, metro you name it all in different directions and within 5 to 10 mins walk of the hotel its a perfect place to stay, the rooms are a little ruff around the edges, but the staff will do anything to help, its clean and fresh, a shop for all you need 10 secs from the entrance, fast food 10 secs the other way from the entrance its perfect for a weekend break

No complaints i could be picky or an arse and say things about paint or basic rooms but thats what your paying for if you want amazing go stay in the ritz, you wont find a better, friendly hotel in Paris

The location was excellent. All the key sights could be reached by walking. Very close to train stations. Lots of shops, restaurants and pharmacies nearby. Loved the balcony, I had requested for this if it was possible and the hotel manager provided it which was so sweet. They provided water bottles which is something we totally forgot about and it was so hot that weekend, so it was so appreciated! The room had everything we needed and more, from a hair dryer, towels, a safe, excellent on suite facilities and teas and coffees when we needed it. It felt safe and clean and the area was very quiet outside the hotel. Will definitely come back here if I come back to Paris! Thank you!

Nothing!

The room was spacious for three people, including the bathroom was also having a good space. The beds were very clean and comfortable, this was really needed for us to have a good and proper rest after roaming around Paris. Room was having everything needed for a good rest. Kettle is provided what gives extra bonus for having a hot drink before sleeping and in the morning. Coffee, sugar and thee bags are provided, as well as new packed simple slippers were provided. I have asked an extra blanquet since i was feeling some cold, and it was provided a very nice one. Everyday, someone came and clean the room and bathroom, new soap bars and new coffee cups, and cofee/thee bags were provided, they also make the beds and organize. They helped us to keep our baggage until late around 20:30 since our trip back was late that day.

The surrounding of the closest metro station does not feel very safe, but as soon as you crossed the street towards the hotel is ok, is a quiet little street.

Location, location, and location!, very close to the Rochuehart train station, next to halal fried chicken fast food restaurant, super delicious and fair price, close to the main street and many convenience stores nearby. Even close to Basilica Sacred 30 mins walk and I think it is so worth the money. We managed to get a family room, so everybody gets a bed of their own. It is very comfortable for budget travellers like us. Halal food and restaurant are nearly on every corner here. I like it and would recommend it to everyone.

i don't know..everything is just ok

We stayed at the Altona for 3 nights and it was perfect for us (family of 3).The location is great, a stones throw from Monmarte and the Sacre Ceur. The metro is really close too so fabulous links for getting around Paris. There are lots of restaurants nearby and a little shop a couple of doors down (handy for snacks and drinks!) The hotel itself is an older building, slightly dated but clean and comfortable. We had a lovely balcony. The bathroom is very modern. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would go back again.

There is a bit of street noise at night (but it is the city after all) If you're sensitive to this just pack some earplugs!

We were very impressed with the way that we were received by the receptionist. He took trouble to ensure that we knew our way to the room, he also recommended and directed us to a Restaurant which was an excellent venue. He also organised for a taxi to collect us and deliver us to Gare de Norde the following morning. Both my wife and I were very pleased with all the Hotel had to offer, in particular the courtesy and good manners of the man on reception. We hope to stay with you again, F.R.Hewer.

We found that getting into the shower a little difficult due to its' awkward design.

The location is great to travel from, and the room is decent. The price is good for Paris area. I really like how clean the bathroom is. The staff were so helpful to accommodate as well.

My room on the 6th floor is a bit dark even though all the lights are turned on. Note for those staying in the 6th floor, the elevator only goes to 5th floor. During my stay there was no amenities in my room, so I had to go back to the reception at midnight. The space between the toilet and the wall is small, so people with longer legs should take note when sitting there.

I love how kind and gentle were the hotel's staff, mainly at the reception's desk, always helpful and diligent. The rooms were clean and always taken care of in a neat way. One of the best perks of the hotel is that is pretty well located, so turistic spots are quite near and you can always reach them by public transport or even by walking if you don't mind a stroll through the Paris centre.

There was not enough racks for the towels, so you kind of don't know where to hang them to dry, or even when you are not using them.
