The location was very central and quiet and the host lived on the premises so no issues with locked boxes. The room was spacious and very clean and the breakfast was good. There was also private and secure parking.

The bathroom and toilet were in different rooms so to use the toilet you had to then go into the bathroom to wash and dry your hands - ideally they should be configured to be in the same room but failing that a seperate sink in the bathroom would be very helpful and hygenic. For some reason the toilet door handle wasn't properly affixed and could come off - it concerned me that solo travellers could inadvently get stuck in the toilt should the handle come off as no fixing nuts were present to keep it in place.

My journey south had been delayed so, literally at the last minute, I parked up in the outskirts of Pau, and googled for an hotel in Pau. The booking was confirmed immediately. This place is just off the old main road through Pau, offers secure off street parking, spacious warm room with a good bathroom, a kitchenette nearby to make a proper mug of tea (I;m English, after all) and a fabulous breakfast (home made jams yogurt cakes, farmhouse honey, cheeses, I was offered eggs too but my waistline said no, sadly). Hosts Sophie and Gilles very helpful and the Place Foirail with its cinema and various restaurants just a short walk down the road.

Nothing at all, be aware though that the entrance from Avenue Dufau is very discreetly labelled "39", a pair of gate posts and a grand drive up to the house. it is a dual carriageway at that point so you can only reach the house southbound, entrance just after a jink around a left turn lane (to Ave de Saragosse), if you reach Rue des Freres Wright you've gone too far. Turn right and go round again past the Carrefour.

House very quirky, we had a very large room. The location was great for getting aroung Pau. The buses work well for getting in an out of the centre, although you can walk quite easily. The hosts were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good value and set out on shared tables, typically French. Bathroom and shower had been refurbished so these were good.

Fridge was shared in kitchen upstairs and not in bedroom. No hanging space. There was a kettle supplied.

So nice to stay in a welcoming family run guesthouse. Sophie offered me a slice of apple sponge and a cup of tea on my arrival. I saw she and her husband mapping out suitable bike routes for the other guests. The breakfast was superb; orange juice, coffee, fresh fruit, cereals, home made yogurt, baguette, jams, croissants and eggs. This is an older home, everything works but it’s not a 4* hotel standard (and that is part of the charm) Bravo 👏

I stopped here again in October and if anything it was even better, the manager rearranged rooms to allow my us to stay in a first floor room (my wife had difficulty with stairs owing to an operation), for which we were very grateful!

Villa Dampiere is a lovely colonial-style house close to the centre of Pau. The owners do everything to make you welcome and provide an excellent breakfast with croissants, home-made jams etc. The rooms are large and comfortable - ours was air conditioned, which was nice as the weather was hot. The shower was nice and warm with a good flow rate (important - I've suffered under many a weak shower).

The bed was a bit bouncy for my taste - every time I moved my partner did too!

We enjoyed staying in this charming, very French villa. The hosts were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room and bathroom were very spacious. Breakfast was supplementary but very good value for 6 euros. Homemade jams, yoghurt and fresh eggs from the garden! Safe, parking in the grounds.

No facilities for hot drinks in the room.

A beautiful villa full of character, spacious and comfortable. Set in a large garden, private, quiet, ample parking. Easy access to the centre of Pau, either by walking or by the excellent busway nearby. The host, Sophie, was helpful and welcoming throughout. Breakfast was great with fresh local produce and many homemade items.

Absolutely stunning villa, massive bedroom with a huge ensuite. The hosts were so welcoming.

The only negative was the tea/coffee facilities in my room; no spoons (I had to use handle of a makeup brush) and the sugar compartment has two plum stones in it from the last occupant! 😱. This is almost certainly a one-off oversight, everything else was perfect!

An interesting old house within walking distance of the centre of Pau. We especially liked the setting with mature palms and a forest of large bamboo. The rooms were very large and comfortable with en-suite bathrooms. Kitchen facilities with fridge were available to guests. Breakfast was excellent, and plenty of it, with good bread, home-made preserves.
