This is just a fantastic hotel through and through! The location is unbeatable, the design is stunning, the staff are professional yet warm and the beds are ridiculously comfortable, with the most lovely soft sheets. The rooftop restaurant is fantastic with delicious food and then there are many other bars to choose from, including a very cool speakeasy open until 1am. We didn’t use the pool and spa but it looked fabulous and we will when we return. If we weren’t driving to Switzerland we would have changed our plans and stayed longer! NB: We stayed in a large Mama room which was wonderful and had an enormous bathroom. Other Mama Shelter’s we’ve stayed at have had very small rooms so it may be worth booking the biggest you can get.

The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Rennes and is within walking distance of the main sights. The room was large and in the old part of the hotel. It had high ceiling and contained a sofa. It was very clean and was well appointed. I liked the ground floor bar where drinks were served in the courtyard and lounge area. The restaurant was on the third floor and overlooked the Place des Lices. I ate in the restaurant for dinner on each night during my stay and the food was excellent. There was also a rooftop bar with views over the city. The staff were very professional and efficient.

We traveled from US and didn’t know about the event. Since we have younger children, they could have changed our room to a quieter one…our windows faced the party…

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The showers had good water pressure and you were able to regulate the temperature easily, and the beds were very comfortable. The location is also very convenient as it is in the old quarter and close to lots of shops, restaurants and places to visit.

Given the price, we would have expected to have complimentary tea or coffee in the room, or water at the very least. We were also surprised that there were no USB plugs to easily recharge your phone. In addition, there is no information provided about the hotel when checking in, i.e. no info about the restaurant, reserving for the pool/spa, parking space for your car etc. We had to go out of our way to ask certain questions and do our own research about the amenities. Lastly, finding the entrance of the hotel is not super intuitive, so this should be better indicated.

Really impressed by the staff (at the reception, the bar as well as at breakfast). Great location right in the centre of Rennes. Very quiet. Comfortable bed and good shower!

There is no parking available for this hotel. I would expect to have some kind of agreement with the local underground parking "les lices" to have a reduction on the very high parking fees.

Ideal location with great facilities. The spa was excellent as were the staff. The restaurant, bars and cafe within the hotel were also very good. Roof top bar was a bonus!

The room was a bit Spartan… could have done with a comfortable chair or sofa. Otherwise there was nothing I disliked.

Clean quirky hotel. Refreshing change from the standard dull major hotel chains. Good breakfast with delicious croissants.

Could not access TV's HDMI inputs due to a metal frame around the TV hanging on the wall. However, Google Chromecast is integrated into their TVs so this was only a minor inconvenience. Note that some rooms do have accessible free standing TVs.

The hotel was slick with all facilities of the highest standard. Thoroughly enjoyed our too brief stay, breakfast was lovely and plentiful and the hotel was in the centre of Rennes with access to all the city had to offer. The staff were charming and the outdoor bar was a wonderful relaxing place to chill out after a busy day

The hotels location made visiting Rennes very easy. The car park was directly outside the hotel. Checking in was easy the young lady very pleasant. Our room was extremely spacious as was the bathroom - lovely thick fluffy towels. Bed very comfortable the room was quiet considering music outside. The courtyard was a lovely area to sit and have a coffee or glass of wine. Yes its a bit expensive but you get what you pay for.

For the price of the room tea/coffee facilities would have been good.

My partner and I were exceptionally happy with our stay. The hotel is finished to an incredibly high standard and the staff helped in any way they could. Importantly also the staff themselves seemed to be happy to be working there which created a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. Right at the heart of Rennes, which is a must see place, but also quiet and peaceful. We could not recommend Mama Shelter Rennes enough.
