It was a blessing in disguise to stay at the Saarschleifenlodge when at check out, it turned out that due the heavy rain the only access road to the lodge was flooded - we could not leave and we were forced to stay another day. Luckily all the staff handled this super well and took really good care of us. We weren't even charged for the forced extra night, even if they easily could have done so. An outstanding example of hospitality as it should be, I would recommend everyone to stay here - also for the nice clean rooms, great food and drinks, amazing scenery, beautiful hikes and 'end of the world' feel of the place. Amazing value for money.

The bathroom was slightly small, the pillows could be more comfortable and we did not haev curtains in the room. But there were really just minor annoyances.

The lodge is in a stunning location, with several walks, a kayak place down the road and a viewing point at the top of the hill. The design inside and out is great, we stayed in a double room in the main lodge but would love to try one of the individual apartments next to it. The staff are super friendly, the lad who greeted us, checked us in, showed us the way to our room and even found us a gluten free place for dinner couldn’t have been any more welcoming. The room was lovely and spacious, bed was comfortable, large soft sofa, shared terrace a lovely place for some morning sun and the bathroom was clean with a large waterfall shower. There is a large outside seating area with fire pits and option to sit under cover.

There didn’t seem to be any blinds or curtains which would have been lovely if not for the massive floodlights shining into our room from the outdoor seating area. We’re very much sleep in darkness type people. The lighting outside did seem to be at odds with the style of the rest of the property, I was expecting a more rustic lighting choice which would have created a softer, warmer glow in harmony with the fire pits.

Great location, right on the river, at the end of the road. Lovely cabins. A great retreat! We loved our time here... once we got in.

They just need better instructions for how to find the key as there is no one at the property after 4 or 5pm. We were sent many multi-page emails in German and when we arrived we could not find the key box, didn't have phone reception (with a new Germany SIM) and couldn't figure out what part of the emails had instruction we should try to translate from German! Just please put up a sign with a map to the key box and maybe a couple of words in French and/or English! Our family speaks 4 or 5 languages, but German isn't one! We almost slept in the car with 2 kids on our first night.

Very nice rooms.

Breakfast can be improved. First morning it was a bit busy so lots of things were missing (boiled egg, juice, coffee, bread, ...) and the one staff member didn't know where to start first. Next morning was not so busy, but also then we had to wait as the one staff member was not around chatting with colleagues... So lots of waiting. For this price I'm really missing a fried or scrambled egg, some bacon, fresh orange juice, freshly cut fruit or fruit salad and a croissant on Sunday.

We were upgraded to a loft suite, which was very nice surprise. The breakfast was tasty and ample with great cappuccino. Friendly service and lovely , quiet location.

We liked everything but did have a minor observation about our lovely loft suite: the windows didn't have curtains or blinds. It didn't affect us as luckily we had eye masks with us but it might cause some people to wake up too soon, especially in summer when it gets light early

Such a beautiful room, wonderful bed, lovely bathroom, fantastic balcony. There is a restaurant open in summer though booking.com did not transmit that information. There were many 10-15 minutes drive away but we ended up with take away from Ali Baba in the village above; doners and beers on the balcony, perfect for the end of a long day The staff was lovely, kind, and made us feel very welcome. We will return and have already recommended it to others.

There was nothing to complain about.

When we arrived, we were kindly welcomed by a man of staff. He was very friendly and hospitable. He showed us around and treated us really well during our stay. The location was beautifull and the terrace outside was really inviting.

On our last day we checked out and wanted to have a coffee before we left. We asked if we could order a coffee. The two women behind the bar refused and told us that they only serve guests. We checked out a few minutes ago. It made us feel really awkward and unwelcome.

What a gem! Fantastic location, quiet and very cozy tiny house, very helpful and friendly staff and good quality food compared to the price. We (a family of two adults and two children aged 8 and 11) and we had the best time in a Saarcabin. Yes, the place is small and the service might be a bit slow from time to time and the cabin may be missing a few things in terms of a cutting board, glasses and cups for four people, but these minor things are completely compensated for by the tiny house living, the friendliness of the staff, the slow pace atmosphere and last but not least the beautiful location by the Saarschleifen. All in all a 5 out of 5 star review from the family from Denmark.

Magnificent location (quiet), nice room, nice breakfast

I don't know if it was because my German is to bad. But I missed out the part that we had to make a reservation to have dinner. At arrival it was no longer possibly. Probably because the lack of other guests. We went out to have dinner and when we returned at 21:15 the entree was closed. We were not informed about the night entry. So a bit of a stressful evening in this peaceful place. But the next morning we had a really nice stroll along the river Saar and a good breakfast.

The location was very nice... right at the river. The room was nice and bright and had a little balcony to sit on. We just stayed for one night and hiked up to the viewpoint to overlook the Saarschleife... very pretty...

We were hoping to eat dinner at their reataurant on Sunaday evening, but apparently it is closed on Sundays which wasn't made obvious from the website...that was a bummer cause I was really excited for the dinner there. If you get in the same situation it It is not recommended to go to the restaurant next door...! But other than that... the location and the place itself is worth a visit
