This hotel has been a delight. The mostly female staff have been wonderful: helped book a 29€ (good value!) tour to Samaria Gorge, assisted with any issues, offered an incredible breakfast with traditional tarts and cakes every morning, and kept the facilities immaculate. Add to that the location with a small supermarket a minute away, sunset views over the sea, and the constant sound of waves. Yes it is a bit further away from the Old Town, but because of this also very relaxing. My tip: walk towards 'Chania Surf Club' - there's a sandy beach perfect for swimming and in May there were no surfers and just a few souls enjoying the peacefulness.

There's a looot to like about Hotel Klinakis. For example, the large variety of food for breakfast, the view from our balcony, the beach right in front of the hotel, the private parking area, the portable and free to take sun umbrellas, and the very kind hotel staff with information on bus stops and anything you might need.

The little sound proofing of the room considering that cleaning in the hallway and adjacent rooms started every day at around eight in the morning. It really woke us up every single day. Sometimes even as early as 6:30 AM when people left their rooms. Earplugs are a must if you are a light sleeper. Personally, we would not have needed four fresh towles in plastic wrapping every day. We appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel, but this was more than we would have needed or wanted.

Very good location near Chania. Lots of restaurants and supermarkets. Beautiful view. Very nice hosts as well. Rooms are clean and bathroom is great. Air conditioning is working perfectly. Breakfast has a lot of variety: vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruits, but also eggs and meat, warm dishes, cheese, cakes, honey and jams… The beach is beautiful but there are big stones in the water, better to go to another beaches nearby, such as golden beach (<1 km) or Agya Marina (5km). Also a lot of place for parking. We had a pleasant stay in this place and we recommend

Some negatives parts of breakfast: Fruit juices are not that good, especially the fresh orange juice that is mixed with water… Coffee machine is also bad, the coffee served is soluble coffee which has a very bad taste. Better to order a Greek coffee in another place if you want to taste something good. Very small double bed.The singles beds are normal size. The mattresses are thin and difficult to sleep on.

The owner of the hotel and her family are exceptional hosts. One of the best experiences, when it comes to welcoming and dealing with arising questions during the stay. Rafaella will make you feel at home. The location is also very good, quite far from people and crowds. Especially good for walkers, who like to move to go to the centre, etc. The hotel is located just next to the sea on a cliff allowing you to have an amazing view from the room. The pastry/baked goods for breakfast were homemade and very tasty. You can see the cooks baking while you have breakfast. Fresh squeezed orange juice was a very nice addition as a cherry on top. The everyday cleaning was done properly and implicitly. The cleaning staff was also nice.

Ignore any negative reviews because we were trying to find a bad aspect and we have failed in that, that’s why it’s a 10. Overall it’s a good price-quality ratio

Fantastic location with a small beach directly down some steps and great sea views from the balcony. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and the room was kept spotless, even with the inevitable sand (we tried to avoid it as much as possible.) Excellent breakfast. It is a short walk (15 - 20 mins) from the old town which suited us, but others may prefer to be in the bustle. We didn't get to do everything we wanted as my partner was unwell, so hopefully, we will be back in Chania and would be happy to stay there again.

The view was gorgeous -- straight out to the water. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because the breakfast was reported to be so good -- we were not disappointed. We were surprised to learn that all of Greece's beaches are very rocky. If you bring your water shoes, it can be quite enjoyable. After a hot day visiting tourist sites, it was wonderful to return to the beach for a refreshing swim. The beach access from the hotel is also private and quiet. The family who run the hotel are all friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond, assisting with reservations, organizing boxed meals as needed, answering questions and recommending good services. The notebook of activities they have put together is so easy to use -- we simply arrived at the hotel, looked through the notebook, planned out our days there, and they made the phone calls to set everything up for us. Also, the shape of the bathtub was perfect for soaking. This may not be considered a "luxury" hotel in appearance, but for us the quality was high in the things that mattered. We stayed in other "4-5 star" hotels during our trip to Greece which had beauty in the physical appearance of the building but poor quality in the food and items provided in the room. Klinakis was one of our favorite hotel experiences.

We did not have as much privacy as we would like. The balconies overlap in a way that allows you to see across to neighboring balconies, as well as potentially inside the rooms. We made sure to close our thick curtains when we needed privacy, but it meant losing the view in those moments. The room was a little small, but thankfully we were out and about most days and not spending a lot of time lounging in the room.

I am shocked this is only a one star hotel! It was amazing value for money. We had a room with a sea view and it was plenty big enough for two of us. Our room was cleaned every day and we were given fresh towels and toiletries. The staff were lovely and helped us with booking taxis and sharing recommendations for places to eat in the old town. They also allowed us to borrow toys, extra towels and an umbrella for sitting on the beach.

The facilities are fairly basic but you get what you pay for. Absolutely no complaints for the price.

Nice small hotel, excellent breakfast. At our request, we changed the economy double room to a smaller single room with a double bed but with a sea view. The bathroom is updated, the room is a bit old. There is a refrigerator, I would recommend adding a kettle to the room. A large beach, it is a pity that we weren't informed that there are beach umbrellas from previous hotel guests that could be used. The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the bus station and the old town, where there is a large supermarket with groceries.

I had a wonderful stay at the Klinakis Hotel. Rafealla and her sister Mary run the hotel like a family home. They are incredibly welcoming and remembered my name from the start. The rooms are modern, smart and clean (cleaned brilliantly by a team of smiley ladies). They are equipped with a fridge and a fantastic shower. The breakfast room (bar in the evening) faces out to sea with beautiful views of the bay.  Breakfast is also served outside on the terrace where it is cool and shady.  Breakfast is incredible: cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, cold meats and cheese, cakes and biscuits made onsite, Cretan pies and hot choices too such as scrambled eggs and sausage. And when you have finished there is a quiet  sandy beach just below the hotel, with warm shallow water. Nea Chora beach with lots of restaurants and bars is a short 10 minute walk and bustling Chania town another 5 or so minutes. It is a very special hotel with lovely staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. I had a wonderful relaxing time and I am looking forward to going back soon.
