Everybody working at the hotel was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful: from the manager to the receptionists, the restaurant staff and the massage therapists. We had dinner at the hotel twice and on both occasions it was absolutely outstanding -- possibly the best food we had eaten during our entire trip. The room was very pleasant, clean and had a fantastic view, the pool was clean and well located. The massage therapists, both male and female, were excellent.This was our last stop in Kerala and we are very glad we picked this hotel. A big thank you to the staff.

There are several activities offered by the hotel, which are all great with one exception. Guests are allowed to fish in the backwaters unsupervised with fishing rods provided by the hotel. Once a guest catches a fish, they (obviously) don't know what to do with it. I fear that many of the fish caught by guests (including children!) die a painful and meaningless death as they are not meant for consumption. So my polite request to the hotel: please do not offer this activity anymore. It does not bring people closer to nature, it only causes unnecessary suffering.

Beautiful resort to relax and experience village life and backwaters of kerala. The warmth and service from the staff who are mostly locals has my special appreciation as it elevated the experience. Right from the boat pick up to get to the property, to helping us with peddal boats and other activities, they were very hands on and kind with people of all age groups. The food both for dinner and breakfast was very tasty and we enjoyed it. Choosing a room with the backwater view is a good idea.

Not a negative, but please be mindful that you need to park your car on the other side and call the reception to get to the property with a very short boat trip. We learned about this from other reviews as it was not communicated well on booking.com.

Serene location amid the backwaters and the amazing opportunity to witness sunrise every morning. The staff are very nice and the food was decent. We had booked two cottages for 4 nights and we really loved it. It is a bit far from the Kochi airport (1.5 hrs drive) but not far from Fort Kochi and other attractions. The resort helped us in getting in touch with the airport transfer company and they also have cars for hire with driver for the local sightseeing. I would recommend to use their service for local sightseeing. The opportunity to use the pedal boats, fishing rods and kayaks on demand was a bonus. The pool was pretty nice too.

We had an amazing stay at Kondai Lip Resort! The serene atmosphere, with lots of birds and beautiful rooms, including open air showers in the bathroom, made it feel like an outdoor paradise. We enjoyed activities like swimming, fishing and paddle boating. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was fantastic, especially the breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, made-to-order omelets and crispy dosas. The boat ride to the resort added a secluded, paradise-like feel. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway!

Kondai Lip was our first location in Kerala. Our luggage was lost during the flight and we came only with our minimal hand luggage. Despite this, we felt great here. We were taken care of, the staff helped us with contacting the airport, so we could really relax there. There are a lot of possibilities for spending time there. You can take a boat cruise, go for a canoeing trip or visit the nearest beach by riksha. The food is absolutely amazing and the kitchen crew is fantastic. Special thanks to the hotel driver, Rajesh, who was driving us patiently when we were trying to buy some clothing. That had to be an exhausting experience :). And don't forget the views - it's so beautiful there...

I had been to the backwaters some years before and I was expecting a view on the big boat passing by. But I should have read the description properly. My fault. Otherwise it is a very nice place with very nice staff

there was a big group of French (around 12 people) talking rather loud from one side of the pool to the other. No possibilities to escape the noise and the French didn’t bother to be so annoying. Same at the restaurant. They were placed in the middle of the restaurant and we could not escape their loud conversations. Diner started at 7 and was very good but other persons like me who also went at this hour weren’t served before the group was cared for. So we had to wait more than 20 minutes. It was not agreable to eat in such a loud atmosphere. I would not go back. The quietness of the place is for individuals, couples in search of a beautiful and serene place. If they prefer to have groups… do please advertise consequently in yr homepage for your future guests

Everything was outstanding - the welcome at the reception, earlier readiness of our rooms allowing us to check-in before time, comfort of the rooms, the grounds (hammocks!), paddle boats, the boat ride in the backwaters, pool and the restaurant. The location is a little out but I don't know how one can have access to such a well maintained, tranquil property without leaving the bustling roads behind. I think the food at the restaurant may be an understated aspect given we're dependent on it completely - the food was excellent. We'd love to have spent more time there. 100% recommend!

Would be great to offer refill of drinking water in larger capacity bottles to try minimise plastic waste Outside of Kondai Lip, we were abit disappointed in the amount of visible litter / rubbish in the area - it is a real shame as a beautiful part of Kerala

The location and ambience was very good with views straight onto the lagoon surrounded by palm trees and frequented by many quite exotic birds (big and small). The restaurant was great for all meals although, as you would expect, focused on Keralan and Indian choices. But breakfast had plenty alternative non-spicy options. Not only was it not necessary to leave the property to eat, to find a comparable place in the local area I think would have been difficult. This is not a tourist-focused area, but for some, like us, that is part of its charm. Kayaks are available to take out on the water (although there were only 2 doubles) but the surroundings are very peaceful with plenty of birdlife to ponder. The only other people we saw on the water were local fishermen in their wooden canoes. It's a shortish walk to the local fishing village of Chellanam which has a daily mass landing of fish by the many colourful open boats. It's a photographer's dream. There is a beach nearby, i.e. sand, sea and palm trees, but it has no tourist facilities whatsoever. So again, if you like it raw this is the place.

The pool and lounging area could have been neater and better provided with loungers, otherwise it's a beautiful area to relax. If you like a drink on holiday then Kerala is not the easiest place to get one. While Kondai Lip does not sell alcoholic drinks or has a bar what they will do is buy in drinks from outside and allow you to drink them away from the public areas. We had Kingfisher beer, a bottle of Gin and some cans of Tonic Water brought in!! This at least allowed us to have very pleasant pre-dinner drinks on the verandas of our lovely bungalows.

Fantastic resort. A real Gem. You have to cross a beautiful backwater on boat to get into the hotel which makes it so scenic. Staff were amazing and super attentive. We even watched the world cup final with the staff, which was good fun. Spa treatments are also very good, in a nice relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were better than expected, clean and comfortable albeit we did stay in one of the better rooms so can only speak for those. Yoga studio which is being built, looks like it will be very cool once built.

It's not near any of the major spots, so if you do leave the resort you'll be in a small town with not much to see. This didn't really bother us and the locals are friendly in Chellnam.
