Beautiful and serene property designed in the traditional style of Tamil architecture. The gardens are amazing and the peacocks add a colorful but noisy additional touch! The staff are very warm and friendly and quick to respond to requests. The food is also quite delicious - fresh organic fruit and veggies. They make the food only after you order so it takes a while but is worth the wait. We couldn’t try the Ayurvedic treatments as our schedule was very tight but as we plan to come back that’s ok. The quaint tea kadai was a lovely experience . We’d say this is a must stay place if you come to Kumbakonam!

Food was excellent and the fresh orange juice was very refreshing. Well maintained gardens with peacocks, chirping birds and butterflies. Lots of activities. Friendly and helpful staff. We tried the ayurvedic massage which was very good, but the therapy room needs to be better equipped and cleaner.

The therapist and the massage were excellent but the therapy rooms could do with some upgrading, eg., there were no dustbins in the bathroom or changing room, the floor was quite oily, the bath mats needed to be changed. The therapy rooms had no air conditioning which is needed in a hot and humid place.

The property is away from the hustle and bustle of the city which has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are the peacefulness and natural surroundings. The disadvantage is that it costs a little to tour the temples which are mostly located in the city area. We hired a taxi for a few hours to do a tour which cost R2,000. The restaurant is very good so it is not necessary to go looking elsewhere for meals. Staff are great. Activities include pottery and a bird watching walk. The swimming pool is excellent. The eco philosophy of the place also is highly commendable.

Breakfast was typical idli, Dosa, Pongal, Podi Idlis, Sweet pongal, Avial pongal, Bread butter, cheese, almond yogurt, masala omlette, etc. Overall, I and my wife were happy with the entire experience. But it was too more for continuous three days affair. We never had lunch and dinner so do not have much idea about it because we use to leave early for visiting temples or shopping. Best thing was there was no TV. I missed adding - There are peacocks in this property. It was very nice see them around all the time throughout the day.

Same dishes for three days for breakfast was not expected.

Facilities and rooms were great. Open shower was the highlight. Tea kadai was a very good / unique experience. The souvenir shop was decently priced unlike other hotels / resorts where it would be very expensive. I indulged in shopping as well

Peacocks were beautiful, but they did not let us sleep peacefully either with their constant squawking. Monkey menace near the pool and outside our rooms also was a bit scary. Our neighbours had left room service food / plates outside, and the monkeys made a mess of them. Pest control like lizards, frogs can be inside the rooms.

Beautiful environment, peacocks, very gentle and kind Ayurvedic massage staff, great cooks using local produce, and best coffee in the Kadai.

No pre-warning that a large engagement party would take over the venue for one afternoon and evening. This impacted guests as the people from outside had many vehicles, did photoshoots, roamed the pool and other areas. I like that they had a beautiful party, but at that time the gentle pace for guests was not maintained, and following morning meal was cut-back as clean-up took place.

Mantra Koodam is one of the best properties I have stayed till date. The location, ambience, rooms, service, food everything was top notch . The rooms were very clean and had a lot of unique touches right from the courtyard type front to the waterfall type shower , the cute jar type soap holders , powder soap with loofah are a few. The beds were very comfortable and the room was quite spacious . Food in the restaurant was v nice. Highlight was the peacocks walking around the property. Highly recommend this property .

We love the traditional architecture of the resort and the lovely greenery all around. A lot of thought has gone into making the experience very homely but with all the necessary modern conveniences. I particularly love the open shower in the bathroom and the herbal powders that we so good, I actually bought some to take back with me.

I had to have a cold shower one day when I decided to have a very late bath. I think that it’s essential that hot water is available 24/7 at a property of this standard and price range.

We were there over the Pongal festival and the resort hosted any activities and ceremonies celebrating the harvest. It was truly an honour to participate in the procession and observe traditional offerings. The room was good and there were lots of aryurvedic offerings to try. Staff were exceptional and shared much of their culture with us.

Location was a bit far from the main temples

This is the only good property in that district. The staff is helpful.

1. Poor choice of international food. 95% of menu consists of Indian (too spicy) meals. 2. The taxi cabs which they provided for sightseeing tours were dirty and in bad condition. 3. Smell of burning plastic in the evening/night. Maybe coming from a nearby village.
