Breakfast very good , traditional irish .Staff very friendly .Good sized bedrooms, iron and ironing board in room. Rooms very quiet.No objections raised when my party produced a PIPER who played Danny Boy in my honour in the public bar/loungeat 11 pm . The Shirley commands a strong presence within the local area, especially since the Nuremore hotel and spa has closed

shower mat not in shower ,had to ask , showers very slippery also could do with grab handles in the showers as I am disabled .

The staff were amazing. A strong team focus and exceptional in their customer hospitality. The food was superb and the breakfasts delicious. I liked the location in the town which was close by to everything.

Not so much not liking as I found the shower difficult to navigate in the bathroom. The heat control was very stiff and for an elderly person quite difficult to use. Not a deal breaker but it was the only thing that was slightly amiss.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and nice and modern. We were very pleasantly surprised as the rooms were even nicer in person compared to the photos online. The reception staff were also lovely and helpful in arranging us some taxis to be able to get to and from the wedding we were attending nearby

Check-in and -out was professional, fast and extremely friendly. Good food and service in the bar, convenient free parking and an enjoyable stay.

The breakfast was poor insofar that some items appeared to have been cooked for some time prior to serving with the result that the white and black pudding would have been better suited for use with a catapult. Also it was the first time I've seen apple flavoured soda served instead of apple juice.

Reception staff were friendly, Breakfast was nice, we stayed for 3 nights. Staff were polite and friendly. On our final night most guests had left and we had the bar to ourselves. Had a very nice bar man who had helped get us some cutlery for our take out because as we had missed the kitchen that night.

Décor was dated and furniture was a little tired, noticed there were cobwebs in the corners of the room. They were in plain sight corners which was surprising to see.

We required a twin room and the property kindly was able to accommodate this even though we initially booked a double. The staff were super helpful and made our stay very comfortable. Due to mobility issues it was great to have everything so close within the hotel and near the hotel. Supermarket next door and plenty of other shops.

Super friendly staff, from the welcoming receptionist to the serving staff at breakfast- all very friendly and helpful. Room was excellent, with generous space and lovely ensuite. Location in the middle of Carrickmacross was perfect. Breakfast choices very good and food lovely. A wonderful stay...we will return.

This is a lovely little hotel in the centre of Carrickmacross. The rooms are lovely and the staff friendly and very helpful. The facilities are excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. There was always plenty of room in the car-park and easy to get a code to exit

The price of the food in the restaurant was slightly on the high side though it was nice food.

We stayed here a couple of nights as our jumping off point for our vacation. My husband had been to Carrick M across many years ago and wanted to show me the town. Unfortunately, a lot has changed and what he wanted me to see is no longer there. The Shirley Arms was a wonderful place to stay however. The room was very comfortable; the restaurant was great; as was the food and atmosphere. All the staff (especially Claire in Reception) were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Staff are excellent. Friendly, helpful and very obliging. We were staying for a family funeral and we got in late in the evening and the bar man very kindly gave us a few drinks even though he was heading home just as we arrived.

Can't really find any fault except as it's the only hotel in town was a bit pricey for a week night. But can't fault the staff or service.
