The hotel was amazing, clean, friendly , great location and a great choice for breakfast. Dining room beautiful. Very clean . Great variety of food and drink.
There was a sour smell in our room. Rm 27. It was like a water smell perhaps water was coming in somewhere and drying over a long time. Perhaps a plumber may need to investigate or an automatic air fresher may solve the issue. The dining room staff are very " brief" perhaps need more training and they need to walk over to the hot food area and show customers where to find the hot food. Maybe a written price list should be shown at the register explaining the prices and choices as the staff we met had English but not very good. Otherwise , amazing place. Hot breakfast wasn't hot.

Check-in was excellent Brendon was fantastic 😊 nothing was to much trouble.. Offer to take my suitcase up to the room because no lift .my room was ready early & that was a bonus..,I stay in 5 hotels at Kilkenny that was the best for guests & all the staff Very helpful. The gentleman on night was helpful & had a great smile 😁 😁😁 Breakfast was good .
It's about 20 mins walk to town or get a taxi . Didn't like the evening meal .The pizza was BBQ but didn't say that on the Menu so I had to order something else That was ok .but wouldn't have a evening again I try in town instead & the bar young barman charged for both meals..I was not happy ☹️☹️☹️

We originally booked for two nights but then wanted to stay for another three nights. They went to some trouble to fit us in, and we had to change room, but they managed it. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Our first room was wonderful and if we had been able to stay in it, I wouldn't have said a single negative thing. Our second room needs work. Minor outstanding maintenance but it makes the cleaner's job harder or even impossible. Mind you, the shower was better in the second room. The beds (and bedding) were wonderful in both rooms. Wifi comes and goes in the second room... not reliable. There is an outside sitting area just outside the room window. Even quiet people can be heard inside the room, sometimes quite late. Having a coffee shop open most of the day is really good, but staying open a bit later would have suited us better. The bar is pretty nice with the usual range of beers in this part of the world. Prices are pretty good too.

At this hotel the check in was very nice. The receptionist was kind enough to offer a great recommendation for dinner and we found our room with ease. We had booked a double room but it came with an additional single bed which was no problem. the room was large and spacious, with a lot of light and a nice en-suite bathroom. It was a very comfortable bed and we were impressed overall with quality of the hotel and our room in particular. Parking is free at the hotel which is ideal. The hotel is quite easy to find if you are driving and there is plenty of parking room available.
Note that this hotel is a good 20 minute walk from Kilkenny centre. We walked into town and it was quite nice but of course it does take time out of your day. There are bicycles and public transport available. In the morning our shower had no hot water. I walked to the reception desk and waited for a good ten minutes but no one arrived to man the desk. When I returned to the room the shower did get hot water. So be warned that perhaps overuse of the showers by many guests at peak times might use all of the hot water.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. Great parking available. Our room was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for a one night stay. There was a bar and restaurant on site so we were able to have dinner in after a long day on the road. They also serve a fairly reasonable breakfast selection.
We didn’t “not like” it but we hadn’t realised it was quite a way out of the town centre. We weren’t really affected by this because we had a car. If you did not have a car you might find it challenging.

There is more to the Kilkenny House than meets the eye - when we got there we realised that we had booked the wrong hotel, and to be honest we were expecting to be disappointed, but we weren’t. It turned out to be a lovely, homely and welcoming place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room is clean and well kept, the bar is welcoming and the breakfast is very tasty. We will definitely stay there again!
There was nothing we didn’t like - the hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the centre, but the walks in and out were very enjoyable!

The hotel isn't walking distance to Kilkenny but it's a short drive and parking is cheap and accessible. We were happy with the rooms - they were clean and comfortable though a little austere decor wise. I minded this more than my teenagers did. We had access to Netflix in the tv - always a bonus when traveling with teens. We got two rooms for our family of four. The price was very reasonable.
Breakfast was expensive for what it was. The hallways were dark during the day.

Breakfast is a minimal list but nice if staying for a couple of days. Rooms are comfy and cleaned every day. Bar downstairs opens at 4pm with a basic menu. Bus into town is just across the road which is great! Free parking for guests.
It's a 30 to 40 minutes walk to town but the bus is available. Upstairs rooms may be an issue for some as no lift. There are no other options for eating close by. No fridge in the room.

Very friendly staff, comfortable room, great shower, good location close to town but far enough for a quiet night, close to the Linear Park for a nice walk, good breakfast, convenient courtesy phone to order a taxi, nice bar and bar food, plenty parking. In particular I liked that the staff were so friendly and made special arrangements for me with a quiet room and early access to breakfast because I was in town for the marathon.
Some of the reviews are harsh. It's a medium sized 3 star family-run hotel offering good value for money and a solid service from loyal and friendly staff. It was perfect for my needs and I'll go again. Some might prefer the 4 or 5 star experience. One minor issue was the bed had a soft mattress whereas I prefer a stiff one. But it's a very minor point and didn't stop me having a good night's sleep.
