I really enjoyed my stay at Dopa Hostel. The atmosphere was pleasant, filled with nice people, both hosts and other guests. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, and did their best to make everyone feel comfortable. The included breakfast was simple but nice, and we could also join a common dinner for a small price, which was also a great way to connect with others. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and I slept really well there. Despite there being only three bathrooms, I never had to wait too long, and they were always super clean. Although it’s a small hostel, it had everything I needed. Its cozy size created a social and friendly atmosphere, but it never felt overwhelming or intrusive. I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bologna!

Breakfast was delicious. Simple but fresh. Delicious blood orange juice, tea, coffee cheese, meat, tomato, cucumber, eggs, cereals. And.....homemade cake! The hostel kitchen is open for guests to cook. So long as you wash up after. Perfect if you're on a budget(express supermarket across the road). Friendly efficient staff, you can tell they like working there. Inner city location, Piazza Maggiore in walking distance. Bologna cuisine the best. This is a popular hostel, book early. Great atmosphere, young crowd but they tolerate oldies like me. The best hostel in Bologna, without question.
I can't think of anything. I'll be back.

Dopa Hostel is fantastic! The hostel and the people who work there make you feel right at home and everything around you lets you know that it is run by people who love travel. The decor, the common area, the kitchen, and everything they offer - like the water, free breakfast, guitars, a record player… everything. It’s just AMAZING. The rooms are clean and aired out daily so there is no sense of neglect or dirtiness at all. The facilities are clean, modern, and well taken care of. This is a perfect hostel run by people who know how to take care of the people who stay there.
Nothing. This hostel does EVERYTHING right.

I had a fantastic stay during my journey to Bologna! The inside was wonderfully warm and cozy, a welcome contrast to the chilly weather outside. The staff were exceptionally friendly and made me feel at home. Everywhere was impeccably clean, and I really appreciated the privacy offered by the curtains in the cabins. Breakfast was fine, with a nice variety of options to choose from, which was a great way to start the day. One of the highlights was the event they organized—it was such a great way to connect with others while enjoying dinner and playing games. A big thank you to everyone for making this experience so memorable!

This place is extremely cosy (especially considering that it's a hostel) and I could really tell how much care has been put into the space and all its details, rendering the common rooms a place where everyone feels welcome and at ease (including dozens of cute tiny lamps scattered around that lit up the space). There was also a huge chalkboard with event and exhibition recommendations that was being updated daily. I especially liked the fact that you were allowed to hang out as long as you needed on the big comfy sofas in the lounge after check-out, and you could help yourself to a cup of tea anytime. Also the rooms were very nice, I really appreciated the curtains that every bed has for an extra sense of privacy and cosiness. While my stay I've met many amazing and open-minded people and basically everyone was eager to connect and share. Every morning there was a breakfast buffet in the kitchen were everyone (who wanted or was up) gathered around the table to eat together. Next time I'm in Bologna I'll definitely come back to Dopa Hostel!
It is a bit on the pricier side compared to other hostels, but in my opinion and experience it's very justified and worth it, given the very pleasant stay I've had and the care that goes in every aspect of the place.

The hostel is perfectly located - not more than a 15 minute walk from the main train station and just as long to the Piazza Maggiore from the hostel. Bus stops, restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Good facilities. The comfortable beds have curtains for more privacy (was a 6 bed dorm). A simple but delicious continental breakfast with homemade cakes and all you need in the morning. Everything is always very clean including the three beautiful bathrooms. Very friendly staff!

Great location, easy to find, close to everything but quiet too. Staff were lovely and made everyone feel at home. Communal dinners and dining configuration in the kitchen ensured people mixed. Comfortable communal areas with a chilled out vibe.. this is not a party hostel but is lively and friendly. Outstandingly clean in all areas. Comfortable, private beds with curtain, individual lights and power point. Lockers with keys and internal power point. Ample space in each room to keep your stuff. I've stayed in many hostels. This has to be the best one yet! I didn't want to leave.
The pillow was too big and the lockers a bit small. That's all I can think of!

I SO liked Dopa Hostel, and would recommend it to anyone. Such friendly staff, and travellers as well. Italian Hostel De Luxe. Small and intimate. Clean. Sometimes you have to wait for the bathroom, but never long enough to be bothersome. I really liked how they cared about not wasting food during breakfast. Could have had a little bit healthier muesli, but it’s minor. Many solotravellers, and also a mixture inbetween mostly younger and some ”older” travellers (me being one of them :). So appreciate the dinner they arranged for us who wanted to join on the night of my arrival. Loved the atmosphere!
Could have had a bit healthier museli, but that was minor.

Staying at the Dopa Hostel was one of the best experiences of my life. It felt like settling into a home with friends. The kind, generous and supportive staff made it feel like visiting friends. They gave great advice about where to go and what to do in Bologna and were eager to help with anything. It was impeccably clean, orderly, and cozy. We even had a fun special vegetarian dinner with wine where the solo travelling guests became friends. The rooms were cozy with big bunk beds with large wood frames and curtains that felt very private. Thr bathrooms with toilet and shower were spacious, clean and beautiful. Having a kitchen with all the spices and cooking equipment you could possibly need was a huge plus. Eating the included breakfast each morning was a great way to meet other travelers. I could not recommend the Dopa Hostel more. This is the best hostel I have ever been to right in the University district and a short walk from anything you could want to see in Bologna. A+ 100%
Some guests in rooms were too loud at night, but that is not the hostels fault. The curtains helped block out a certain rude guest turning the light on at 1 am and trying to talk to me. The Hostel staff told people to quiet down at midnight in the cozy living area and they did all they could to make it a perfect stay.

the place is great, room is clean and well maintained. you get a towerl and soap etc. for a private room. there is a shared space with outlets for charging. staff is nice and helpfull. there is a basic breakfast, which is more then enough and there is a common kitchen an a refrigerator if you need to store your food.
the price for a single room is a bit high I think, but it is a central location and it is season so maybe its expected to some extent. the AC is on only some of the time. so if you plan to spend time in the room during the day it may be without AC which can be problematic in hot and humid days.
