The ideal base for a few days visiting the Cinque Terre, and La Spezia! We spent 3 days here, 2 visiting the Cinque Terre (the easiest train ride from La Spezia) and then one day exploring La Spezia. La Pietra provided the perfect base - but beware it is high up a steep hill just behind La Spezia town. There is a bus that runs right outside, but the times can be awkward - we ended up walking down the two mornings, and it was a gorgeous walk about 25-30 minutes to the centre of town. The view from La Pietra 1 is absolutely spectacular, overlooking La Spezia.
Be mindful if you don’t like walking that the buses have a very set timetable & a taxi will put you out €15/20. Each night we walked to the taxi rank at the train station to get home as the last bus is 8.30pm. I think it would be of benefit for the property to provide a local taxi number or have their own taxi services as it is only a 5 minute drive down to the centre of town. Due to the location of the property we had to pack a bag for the whole day as it would be too awkward to go back up and down then for dinner. The air conditioning in the room also wasn’t that great - I would find it hard to sleep during the hotter months with these conditions!

Upon arrival, the views from the terrace or from the window exceeded expectations. Spacious private terrace, comfortable wide beds, enough space in the shower. The room is not big for 4 people, but the whole space is sufficient. There was always warm water, the rooms were cleaned daily. It is possible to eat in the institution in the evening. Breakfast is amazing, both Italian style and Nordic style: ham, sausage, cheeses, facacia, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, yogurts and dry breakfast, juice, amazing cappuccino and espresso, good service, food replenished constantly. Here, some negative reviews have no basis. Daily 3 Italian fresh cakes, various fresh croissants, juice. Breakfast is equal to lunch, and the most important thing is fresh. The night is very quiet, no noise, the rooms are closed off - we practically did not see the neighbors except during breakfast. Very helpful and polite staff. ou can easily reach the area by car uphill, the road is not dangerous, parking is right next to the house. We highly recommend it.
There could be mosquito nets, at least on the window.

Beautiful property in a breath-taking location on the hill (you need a car to get there!), from our room in La Pietra 1 we had a great view on the bay of La Spezia. Room was extremely clean and smelled super good, with balcony to fully enjoy the spectacular view. The whole staff has been super kind to us (a special mention to Rosetta!). A must stay when visiting Cinque Terre!
We had some troubles getting there as we received a message through booking.com from the property not to follow the gps recommendations but to follow their recommended route. Turned out we should have followed the gps, that was a bit confusing but at the end we managed. Absolutely no big deal!

The location is hard to get to but offers a great view. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, smelled nice and had a nice porch. Breakfast was tasty.
Check in times really didnt fit our itinerary. We had to check in before 11.30 or after 15.00 and before 19.00. We had to cut our stay at Cinque Terre short. Check out at 10.00 is also early. Breakfast is up the hill, so you also have to walk 10 min to get there. Parking is also quite difficult, they say 3 cars will fit on the parking lot, but they do not. You can hear the neighbours taking a shower like they are next to your face.

The steep, narrow roads and hairpin turns were worth it! This is a beautiful, well maintained property, was one of our most favorite places to stay! Very comfortable room and bathroom facilities, with excellent, helpful staff(both Valentinas!), extras such as refreshment stations on each floor, lovely continental breakfast on the flowered terrace with local honey, yummy cappuccinos and even a croissant warmer! Recommended very nearby (1K) restaurant Osteria Viales(?) had delicious food and ambiance.
The multi levels and stairs were a healthy workout and worth every step when we saw our spectacular view of La Spezia and environs!

The best view I’ve ever had!!!!Fantastic price, very hospitable, Manuels (I believe is the woman who runs it) is lovely. Everything was clean and breakfast was delicious. I couldn’t say anything negative at all.
This is not negative at all…..it has very steep curvy roads and is on the side of a very steep cliff. If you have issues with motion sickness or heights, just be aware. It’s still absolutely worth it though still. Heavy bags though could be a challenge. I would just speak with them ahead of time.

We had a very good time at Pietra II. The staff is awesome, kind, helpful and very welcoming. The location is beautiful, quiet and more pleasant, than the overheated and crowded city of La Spezia. You will find youself enjoying the views of La Spezia, surrounding mountains and the sea. We felt very comfortable and got much more, than we anticipated from the photos and description. There was also very tasty pasta available as a quick dinner. A vending machine for drinks is a nice touch. Room was equipped with silent and powerful air conditioning.
There are a few minor details, that can be improved. Quite a lot of water was leaking through the glass shower door, onto the bathroom floor, while taking shower. There should be a "Do not disturb" sign available on each room, also a bootjack would be handy. We missed some fruit tea for breakfast (not flavored black or green tea). There are quite a lot of wasp nests in the walls near the parking area and the breakfast/dinner terrace. Could be an issue for someone with an allergy or small kids.

Amazing staff! Valentina who works afternoons was really helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee making area in the hallway which was very welcomed! View is stunning!! Paolo has the best local wine served after 7pm and also offers pasta and pizza. As we needed a Gluten free meal, Valentina called a local restaurant and we had a meal delivered and sat outside, enjoyed the view and Paolo's wine.
Nothing, all fab! However, be aware there are lots of steps as it is on the hillside. We did have a bit of a challenge finding it as there are two buildings and the satnav took us to the one without the reception. If you get to the first building, go UP the hill and it's just on the left.

This property a little up and outside of La Spezia, and so it has one of the most striking views of the harbor. We had a great time staying at the place, plenty of room for us and the kids - the host was very attentive and breakfast was one of the best we've had on our roadtrip. City center is just 5 min drive from the place and La Spezia has plenty to offer.
Nothing - all was great!

The hotel is very clean, good and rich breakfast and the staff was willing to help. It has a great view. The room was big and comfortable.
The location is terrible. To arrive at the hotel, you need to drive up the hill in a very narrow road, with sharp turns. It felt very dangerous every time we drove to and from the hotel. All else is perfect on this hotel
