A more traditional hotel in a good location for exploring and dining: several trams stop just in front and a moderate walk to the Garibaldi stazione gets you to several of Milano's fine Metro lines; on the ege of the big Chinese community, there are lots of Asian eateries across the street and further into the area (very nice Vietnamese restaurant just across the street from the back door), Italian places are near (Trattoria da Franco 150 feet north is good and very welcoming), as well as nearby places such as a Cairo Street Food shop, some Korean places, and on Via Mauricio Quadrio there's a Brazilian food store as well as a hole-in-the-wall Greek taverna which produces good Greek basics at modest prices. Carrefour Express just south around the corner. A charming small hotel, older and discretely modernized (good bathroom, quick hot water) comfortable bed, a nice breakfast selection, an attentive and pleasant staff.
Google Maps kept giving directions out the back door instead of the main entrance - but I guess that's Google's problem.

The location was excellent-close to the centre and just across from China Town.. Shower was hot and breakfast was good. The rooms were clean. The ladies working in the kitchen were very nice. Overall, a good hotel.
The receptionists could have been a little more welcoming and helpful. We found them a bit passive. Overall that was a small thing though. My room on the 3rd floor was quite cold at night although the lower floors didn't have that problem. I think that was just because the heat from the radiators wasn't as powerful the higher up you went.

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and 4-month old baby, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and accommodating to us. The room was generally clean and they provided a cot for us after we had requested it during the booking. The staff at reception helped us get our pram in and out of the hotel and even store it safely when we found it difficult to take it with us up and downstairs. The location is excellent for getting around Milan as it is a couple of minutes walk from Monumentale (M5) and 10 minutes from Porta Garibaldi (M2, M5, suburban trains etc.). There are good restaurants in the neighbourhood too. Breakfast was simple but tasty and more than sufficient for our needs. The room was a good size for a city hotel in this area, and the bed and bath/shower generally comfortable.
Some improvements could be made to the fixtures and fittings in the room, as some of the handles were loose and the doors quite squeeky (not ideal with a sleeping baby).

Comfortable bed, balcony, free water in fridge, air con quiet, nice helpful staff and handy location. Hotel is located in Chinatown so plenty of restaurants to chose from. Good choice of local trams to get you to the city centre either right outside the hotel or across a couple of blocks.
Hotel decor needs a refresh. There were only 3 clothes hangers so asked for more. Tap in bathroom needs attention as lime scale at back of tap outlet causing flow to be disrupted. No USB ports and the electrics looked old/need replacing, switches had a lot of ingrained dirt on them too which could be easily cleaned off with a little more attention to cleaning detail.

Historic, family run hotel with great character, so much nicer than a bland generic chain. Interesting decor and paintings, you could really feel the history of the building. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. We stayed in a twin which had plenty of space for luggage as well as a handy table and pair of regal looking chairs. The bathroom was large with a rain-head shower and bath tub. The breakfast room was never full and there was a nice selection of cereals and home-made cakes, various types of bread, jams etc. The ladies working in the kitchen were absolutely lovely and kind and prepared us soya milk cappuccini every day and made sure my mother had gluten free cereal and snacks. The little lounge area by the reception was very cosy and charming. We came for a concert at Alcatraz and a little bit of city touring. The hotel was perfectly situated; a very short walk to Monumentale M5, ten minutes from Garibaldi station (and the very trendy Piazza Gae Aulenti) and a tram that stopped right outside the door. The castle and Parco Sempione were also a walkable distance or you could take the tram line and arrive in 5 mins so also great for accessing the historic centre. There is a supermarket across the road that is open until 10pm in case you need to grab some water, snacks etc. The area felt safe at night and is very close to some of the most expensive apartments in Milan (Bosco Verticale) and that area is very lively with a lot of tourists. Couldnāt have chosen a better location really and the price was far more reasonable than a soulless mega-hotel in the centre. I would not hesitate to return thanks to the kindness of the staff and charming family-run character of the hotel. A real gem in Milan.
Absolutely nothing to complain about whatsoever

The breakfast was great: Scrambled eggs was the only thing that was "missing" from a typical breakfast but everything else was there, the pastry was very tasty! The room was very spacious with a great view at Porta Volta. The hotel was from a walking distance (30' max) from Duomo and Castello Sforzesco, it's very close to city centre. Don't forget to visit the Cimitero Monumentale di Milano north of the hotel, 5min walking distance, always with respect to the place and the locals.
The reception staff (the day shift) could have been more communicative but it wasn't an actual problem.

We last stayed at this hotel in 2019, and had planned to return in 2020 but were prevented from doing so by the Pandemic. This was therefore our second stay. On both occasions we have begun and ended our weekās holiday here. It is very well located, a short walk from the metro and train stations at Porta Garibaldi, and with a tram stop (trams 2 and 4, both going towards the Duomo) literally outside the door. There are plenty of places to eat nearby: we particularly like Trattoria da Franco a few doors along the street (specialising in Pugliese cuisine). The hotel is clean and comfortable, in an elegant building with period furnishings ( so plenty of character). Our rooms have all had good views of the street outside and the wider neighbourhood. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is good; self-service from a breakfast bar, with the dining room next door. We have enjoyed both our stays here, and hope to return again next year.
No criticisms. We like Hotel San Guido very much. My only disappointment has been that we booked and paid (in full) for our accommodation in 2020, but then had to cancel because of the Pandemic. At the time I wrote and asked if what I had paid could be put towards a future stay, but I received no reply. That was disappointing. However, I guess it is water under the bridge and we wanted to come back here, above all because of the convenience of its location, its good value and its character. And like I said, we hope to come back again next year.

The room was spacious and cosy. I usually don't take breakfast so that I didn't eat much. But the variety was good. I had some hams and cheese and a lice of bread. The coffee was excellent. The location of the hotel is rather practical to move to the central. China town is nearby. There is a tram stop nearby.
I think it is because of old building so that the corridor is very narrow. Luckily I didn't cross with someone has large baggage, otherwise it would be bit complicated to go through.

Great location along the tram and/or metro to pop around Milan. Also near china town which is so fun! Room temp was perfect and it was surprisingly spacious.
I didnāt love that there were only two thin pillows on the bed for two people and when I asked for another pillow I was told: āno, they are finishedā ?!? That seems like poor planning to not have better options for placing your head. It made for an uncomfortable night which was so unfortunate. And the way the request was dismissed was really rude and left a bad taste.

From the welcome at Reception to my leaving it was a wonderful stay there. The hotel is so original - modernising the facilities hasn't taken away its charm The room was lovely, with a fridge and a good ensuite with a powerful shower The highlight for me was breakfast - best I've had on my travels in Italy. All the normal treats but extras like ricotta filled pastries. And the situation was perfect for me -a tram stop outside and near the Metro. But it only took a slow 45 minutes walk to the Duomo so that's what I enjoyed!
