Everything was fantastic! At the beginning there was a misunderstanding, because unfortunately Booking.com says that every room has a balcony, but in fact it doesn't - the lady told us that only some rooms have balconies, and we had been booked into one without, because we hadn't requested one. She only speaks Italian, and I speak a little, so we managed to sort it out and move to a different room, with a balcony (we didn't mind that it wasn't en-suite). So this was definitely Booking.com's fault!! - not hers! Make sure that you ask for a balcony specifically if you want one! The hotel is on the 5th floor (you go up with a very old, traditional lift), and there was a super view over Palermo to the mountains and the sea. It is a family-run hotel, extremely traditional, and the ONLY place we stayed in, in the whole of Sicily, where EVERYTHING WORKED! - the shower, the toilet, the bidet, the TV, etc - it was so nice to find this spotless hotel, run with pride by a lovely family. Many places at this budget are a bit decrepit, but the Albergo Cavour was the exception - I would absolutely recommend it as a convenient place to stay near Palermo station. In addition the lady gave us an excellent recommendation for a place to eat nearby in the evening, and we really enjoyed our meal! In the morning she brought our breakfast (coffee and cake, which you can choose the night before) into our room on a hostess trolley - fantastic!

Everything was perfect, except that Booking.com needs to change its information! You say that ALL rooms have balconies, but this is not true! To avoid any more misunderstandings with the lovely lady who runs the hotel, who doesn't speak English, please could you urgently change your website to say that only SOME rooms have balconies, and that if you want one, you need to request this! Thank you.

Enjoyed our one night stay in a spacious, very clean, nicely furnished room. Loved the breakfast (served in the room), we chose pistachio croissants from other sweet options - they were warm, delicious and huge :) If you crave something salty & substantial for breakfast, you can get any type of grilled street/sea food, sandwiches at the famous Ballaro market 5 min. from the hotel. The owners were kind and let us leave our big luggage for a couple of hours even after checking out, so we could explore the city freely during the day.

The location was excellent, only a few minutes from the Central Bus & Train stations in Palermo. It was in a perfect location for exploring the city. The rooms are all on the 5th floor of a building which seem to be shared with other apartments/offices and can only be accessed by ringing the bell and being 'buzzed in', but we never had to wait very long for this to happen. Our room was large, with very high ceilings. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Traffic noise could be loud at times, but only if the windows were open. As others have said, the area could be described as 'run down', but I never felt anxious about walking to or from the accommodation at any time of the day or night. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was brought to our room every morning, even a bit earlier on the day we were leaving earlier to go on a day trip. The room we were assigned was listed as having a 'shared bathroom and shower room', however don't let this put you off booking as I suspect we were the only people who used these facilities, which were kept spotlessly clean at all times. There was a sink in the room, which meant we could wash/brush teeth/etc without having to use the 'shared facilities'. I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation, or in staying here again. It is perfect for those looking for inexpensive accommodation while exploring Palermo.

Tea/Coffee making facilities would have been nice, but maybe that's because we 'Irish' love our tea :-)

An experiment. Not since my youth had I stayed in a 1 Star hotel but this particular weekend in Palermo accommodation was scarce in the Kalsa neighbourhood and I thought why not, an adventure. It is very much a trip back to nostalgia, when the 'pensione' was always a great option. Family run it's exactly that, and I have to say star ratings these days mean practically nothing, in Firenze, Rome, Venezia or Milan this would be a 3 Star. Meticulously clean and quaint walking past the family quarters and seeing Nonna in the kitchen watching TV. I had a room with ensuite and view over the city to the sea, nothing to complain about. The building well kept with a wonderful cage lift up through a grand spiral stair to the top floor.

While the location is perfect for getting in and out of the city (airport bus or train) and on the fringe of the more interesting Kalsa neighbourhood, it's the stepping out into the surrounding streets that are littered with rubbish that put a damper on the stay, sad really and if those lounging around on their mobile phones took some civic responsibility it would be a good area to be in.

Comfortable, clean and convenient. Wonderful attention to our needs and a pleasant breakfast service in our room. Great location to explore being just a short walk from many places of interest and also close to railway and bus stations. The room was spacious and perfect for our needs. The owner was very pleasant, helpful and efficient. The room was simply furnished in a style that reflected the building in which it was located. The small old fashioned lift was an essential as the B&B was on an upper floor. We felt very secure here.

Location is great. Very close to railway and bus station and in walking distance to the historic center (15 min). The room is clean. Bed is comfortable and it's quiet. Excellent soundproofing. The staff is kind and helpful. I liked the balcony.

Bathroom is very small and you have to throw a toilet paper to the bin. Probably has something to do with the pipes cause the building is old. There wasn't hairdryer in the room.

Just next to the train station. Very clean room, Airconditioned/heating worked a treat. Big bathroom with plenty of hot water. Hot breakfast plentiful and delicious. The host was very considerate and easy to communicate with in English. The room is on top floor but easily accessible via an old style slim lift. Remember to close the doors manually.

Not a fault of the hotel but the streets in the immediate neighborhood are bit rundown. However the closeness of the train station is a big bonus.

Family-run hotel with kind owners that gave me recommendations, helped me carry my luggage and leave it before/after check-out/in. My room and the bathroom was big and clean. Comfortable bed, tv, closet, pretty wooden beam ceiling, tiled floor and windows in both rooms so that cooling air entered. The breakfast was abundant and one could vary each morning. Nice food that was brought to the room (cornetto, coffee, juice, etc). The location is practical as it is very close to the central station and one can reach other locations in the city center by foot easily. At night might not be the best area to walk around alone.

Unfortunately there was no fridge to store water or fruit.

everything, especially the room (facilities and cleanliness) and the lift of the building

during the last night of our stay, a noise of some kind of machine (maybe AC) that kept coming on and off

Location is really great, just 2 minutes walk from the Palermo central train station which makes the life very easy to communicate. Room is very large, comfy bed, immaculate clean, classic Italic style with high ceilings. Our room was ensuite so the bathroom was the same clean and all functional as it should be. Breakfast was simple but very delicious delivered precisely on time when we requested. The croissant was yum yum which is impossible to find in the UK following our hot classic Italian drinks. Hospitality from the host lady Maria was exceptional, I don’t write reviews a lot but on this occasion I had to because people like Maria needs the appreciation and recognition. She is a person who will notice your needs and voluntarily will offer her help which is hard to find these days as most low budget hotel administrators will try to find the right opportunity to rip you off. We reached the hotel at 20.40 and our purpose of the visit was to attend a football game which starts at 20.45 and I didn’t have my tickets printed so upon asking Maria she started to print my tickets while we were changing and freshen up and also arranged the taxi for us downstairs to the stadium by the time we got ready. We came very pate early morning of the following day and she opened the door and greeted us with a smile. On the checkout morning she offered to keep our bags with her voluntarily while we’ll roam around the city considering our flight which was very late that evening. We stayed only 1 night but still her attitude, professionalism and helpful nature really made us feel welcoming. Thank you Maria for everything and i Hope you keep thriving and stand out always. 🙏🏻😇⭐️
