The hosts are incredibly kind and helpful. There was great communication both before and during our stay. We arrived after the standard checkin/ office hours and Sabrina waited for us to ensure we could successfully get into our rooms, and to shuttle us to and from town for dinner. Rooms are comfortably decorated, very clean, and a great size. The homemade breakfasts exceeded our expectations, with large portions and new offerings every day.

The property is up the hill from town. There is a shuttle service that operates throughout the day, but if you choose to walk, be mindful that it can be quite hot during the summer months as the path is mostly unshaded.

Great place with exceptional breakfast and staff. The views of the vineyards and mountains were spectacular. Hiking trails are amazing. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. Snacks, beverages, and wine were offered at reasonable prices. The wine was from a local vineyard and excellent!

It is a difficult walk uphill from the town of Monterosso, requiring a 20-euro taxi to get you to the location. However, the place does offer free shuttles several times in the day and night. When possible the staff will accept personal time requests for shuttles.

If given the chance, you must stay at the wonderful La Serra Sul Marre. There is no hotel quite like it. Its charm comes from the warm hospitality of the family who runs it. Fanny and Sabrina are two of the loveliest people I have ever met and they care for the property and guests with such love and attention, you feel like you’re staying at their home. Classic Italian breakfast made by Fanny herself is served every morning overlooking the breathtaking views of the mountains and Ligurian sea. And the food is divine - better than any breakfast we had at a restaurant. Sabrina is incredibly helpful and kind and arranges a shuttle service up and down the mountain daily. The bed was extremely comfortable and the fridge was fully stocked with water, wine, and pelligrino. One of the most enjoyable hotel experiences of my life, La Serra Sul Marre earns my highest recommendation. Grazie Mile 💖

1. The Host - Sabrina, was fantastic. She managed my many dietary intolerances wonderfully and specially made made me dishes I could eat. 2 The Full Breakfast - Each breakfast was magnificent with different hot and cold dishes everyday. And the freshly baked breakfast tarts, pastries, tiramisu and crepes each morning were worth the price of admission. Also, we were so full that we skipped lunch (and the summer crowds) and continued our activities until the evening (of course with a few gelato and negroni stops along the way :)) 3. View - We booked a room with a sea view and it didn't disappoint. We woke up each morning to the spectacular ocean. 4. Accommodation - We knew that the accommodation was situated way up in the hills and the room itself was located up a slope with many steps to climb. Also the rooms are "cosy". So large heavy luggage is not recommended and we left our main luggage in Florence (there are many left luggage services all over Italy) Middle opening bags are also to be avoided as things can be a bit tight to lay out that type of bag configuration. 5. Shuttle and Bus services - The accommodation provides regular shuttle services to and from the town at prescribed hours. That worked like clockwork. We also found the public bus as convenient (the bus stop is just outside the accommodation) and gave us more options as to timings. We had purchased the Cinque Terra inter village train tickets and that also allowed us access to the public bus. 6. We'd like to thank Sabrina, Francesca and Claudio for making our stay such an awesome one!

1. Beds - the mattress was on the softer side, although we know that's a personal preference. We found the beds in our other stops in Italy generally soft too.

The breakfast is home-cooked, and really delicious. The overnight price is not high, considering the area, which is a high-demand area. Up on the hill, you're away from the crowds when you want to be. We took the room without a balcony, but there is still lots of outdoor space available, so we didn't miss the balcony. There are three communal terraces to chose from, with chairs, sun lounges, and umbrellas. You can follow the sun or sit in the shade. The chairs are situated so you can look with out the window at the sea. It takes about ten to fifteen minutes to walk down the slope to the town. There are no sidewalks, but traffic was not heavy, since cars are forbidden in the town. The pickup service the hotel offers works just fine. Be aware there is no pickup between 19:30 and 21:30.

A gorgeous view over the sea. Staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to provide transportation. Breakfasts were quite good though almost too much. They worked to provide gluten free options. We felt very safe and secure.

It was up a very significant hill, not walkable for us so we took cabs three times. Thus, we couldn’t just walk around the town and to our hotel. The room was cramped with little room for open suitcases. Hauling our luggage up to our room was daunting on our first night.

La Serra Sul Mare was the highlight of our two week trip. We were greeted with prosecco and a snack, and we loved how spacious and comfortable our room was. Although set a little outside of the main part of town, the shuttle was incredibly convenient and we were able to use the bus included in the Cinque Terre treno card for part of our stay as well as there is a stop right outside. We loved the quiet and beautiful view of the water from our little patio. The breakfast was huge, delicious and served by a lovely woman. All of the staff was wonderful and hope to come back for another stay sometime in the future!

Absolute wonderful place to stay! Amazing staff that went so far above and beyond. Our room was beautiful, clean, and had a very comfy bed. Came with a stocked fridge that was very reasonably priced. We loved our patio that had a gorgeous view of the sea! Every morning started with a delicious breakfast, freshly made. The location was great, only a short walk down to the center. But they offer a complimentary ride to and from if you prefer. We loved every single thing about this property, especially the super staff!!

We loved everything!

La Serra Sul Mare was absolutely perfect. Even the glowing reviews of the included breakfast didn’t do it justice, it was a luxury to wake up to a talented, private chefs every morning just steps from our suite. Having a private balcony with sea views also set this stay apart, it gave us so much space to relax compared to smaller rooms that in the bigger cities. The stocked fridge was another excellent touch, it really helped not having to go into town for wine and water after a long day of traveling. There were many easy transportation options, though we opted to walk in and out of town except when arriving and leaving with our luggage. It’s a steeper climb back but very doable, which was kind of nice after finishing a big dinner.

Nothing.

The breakfast every morning was exceptional. Each morning was a feast! We appreciated all the different varieties of homemade foods- ingredients were all bought locally and prepared fresh daily in their kitchen. If you want an old world experience in Italy this is it. Very clean. Shuttle service to town on a schedule. Very helpful when asking information about the area. Sabrina is the perfect host.

Enjoyed it all!
