The hotel is very beautiful, with an incredible view of mount Vesuvius. The hotel feels very regal and the staff make you feel special. Breakfast was the best we've ever had! So much choice, the food was delicious, with omelettes prepared fresh, in a gorgeous setting. The sea deck is wonderful and accessing it via a lift from your room that takes you through the cliff is an amazing experience. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are lovely. The location is great. It's just a short walk into the centre but it's relatively flat. The cleaners were great and so friendly. The hotel arranged for a bottle of prosecco and chocolate strawberries to be left in our room for our anniversary, which was such a lovely touch.

The room we had with a hot tub on the balcony was lovely but in my opinion it was overpriced. The room didn't look like the one in the pictures so be aware that there seem to be quite a few of those room types, with varying views and balcony sizes. The room in the picture had two windows/doors with a view of the sea from the bed. Ours had one door and no view of the sea from the bed.

We had an incredible experience from the moment we stepped in the grand lobby. We were immediately greeted by the friendly & professional staff who instantly made us feel comfortable & pampered. We were directly escorted to our room by the charming Front Desk Attendant who checked us in, while our luggage quickly followed up another elevator. On our way to the elevator, we couldn't help but feel our hearts skip a beat at the breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea through the gorgeous open lobby. Our room was spacious, immaculate & elegant, with an amazing view of the sea. The beautiful hotel grounds, fantastic restaurant & second to none service by the entire staff, in addition to prime location just a short walk from downtown Sorrento, made the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori the new forever destination of our annual trip to Sorrento.

Can't think of a single thing!

As an American, this was a beautiful property that reminded me of Hawaii outside, lush, gorgeous pool grounds, great for a wedding, very panoramic. We loved the breakfast buffet each morning and appreciated the Italian cheeses, like fresh ricotta with local tomatoes and olives. The restaurant had amazing views of the bay and we looked forward to it every morning. The rooms had lovely tile, a nice bathroom, and mirrors everywhere which helped getting ready in the morning, like doing makeup. We had a small terrace with our room overlooking the bay, which was nice for my daughters first time in Italy. The staff held our bags, brought them up nicely, with no problem. Front desk was very helpful with all our questions. We scheduled a tour with the hotel, and it was amazing. picked us up at the front door. it was a very luxurious stay and I would love to go back.

There wasn’t much we didn’t like, but a couple things we wish you had. Americans like facecloths. We managed, but it would have been nice. The terrace/balcony could be larger, but by Italian standards it was fine. It was a about a 20 minute walk to the pier to go to Capri, and about 10-15 to get to the downtown area. There were lots of inclines and declines, and stairs, so if you’re elderly or handicapped if would be somewhat difficult. However, we enjoyed passing citrus trees, smelling walls of jasmine, and discovering a small lemon grove on the way.

Wonderful hotel and a delight that we were upgraded. The room was lovely, the staff were friendly and the facilities were amazing. We felt like we were treated exceptionally well from the first moment until the last. Just fantastic people who work there and it was a real treat to stay.

amazing people, amazing service, amazing place! very welcoming and professional staff , lovely choices of furniture and colors all around , specially liked the room design and the paint colors, bed is excellent, bathroom is spacious, clean and nicely designed water pressure is really good. the best I’ve seen so far in Europe hotels, the lobby and the gardens are pleasant and enjoyable, especially the gardens! big and very beautiful and well taken care of, didn’t get to try the pool as it was winter time. breakfast was 10/10 housekeeping 10/10

We were originally going to stay in Positano and had a hotel lined up, but ended up in Sorrento. It turned out to be a fortuitous thing as this hotel is exactly what we were looking for. It’s a very elegant and gracious hotel, and very comfortable. The staff in particular are wonderful. They’re very helpful, but in an understated way and not over the top. We were there for Christmas Eve dinner and without question accommodated a vegetarian (no meat, no fish) eater for a set course dinner. The location is great to access the Amalfi Coast, but also Pompeii, Vesuvius and Naples for day trips.

5 star hotel that sits on a bluff over the ocean. One of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. The staff was very accomodating. The AC worked great and the hotel rooms were large and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was expansive and delicious.

The hours for the pool and "beach" area are not accomodating. They both shut down at 6:30pm, even to adults, and open again at 9am. It would be nice to be able to linger in the pool with a drink and enjoy the evening.

We loved that there was an elevator down to the dock for swimming, and we loved all of the patio seating for drinks in the evening. Our room was huge and clean and the bed was comfortable. We also thought the breakfast with Prosecco was great.

We didn’t love the dinner at the hotel. It was very expensive and not a very good meal. We also didn’t love that we couldn’t order any snacks or food by the ocean or the pool. It also felt a bit like they were just churning out tourists and not very personal or helpful. We booked a boat tour through the hotel and we didn’t get what we paid for so I would recommend looking for a tour company not through the hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 amazing nights of our Italy Honeymoon. To begin there are no words to describe how perfect our stay here was. From the minute we walked in everything was absolutely stunning. You get that old Italian vintage feel from the lobby and the property that could bring tears to your eyes. The property is impeccably maintained and when I say it is the best view in Sorrento, IT IS the best view from anywhere of the hotel. It’s also extremely quiet and you feel like you are in your own villa. We splurged for the Premier Double Room with Sea view and let me tell you, it is worth the splurge. Our view was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The staff was so unbelievably helpful, nice, and accommodating. Upon our arrival they had champagne waiting for us in our room congratulating us on our marriage. The front desk was always smiles, always willing to help and gave us the all the information we needed to explore the Sorrento. The cleaning service is also impeccable, thorough, and very very clean. They also have a turn down service. The location is perfection, you sit high on a cliff which gives you so much privacy and views but your also only a 10 min walk from town and 20 from the marina. You also you get your own private beach which amazingly well kept, beautiful, and amazing views ! Giuseppe runs the snack bar and is hilarious. If I can give one piece of advice about Sorrento, it’s STAY HERE!

The hotel is lovely. With beautiful views, grounds furniture and chandeliers. The breakfast is very good with lots of options.

We came as the season was winding down, early September. On several occasions we were met with a "no" from the staff. I counted at least 5 '"no's" in a 48 hour stay. They were minor. About confirming our reservations at restaurants to ordering rides in advance, to ordering food on the pool deck. I am not used to coming to a 5 star hotel and paying $860 a night and hearing the staff coming from a place of NO, we are very busy. Sorrento is crazy busy after the Pandemic. Maybe they were just tired.
