the view and the huge pool and terrace

wish we could have breakfast on the terrace, there were no tables set up outside with such an amazing view it’s a no brainer to me, we were all sitting on top of each other in a huge dining room inside

The hotel fits the decorum of Taormina. Views are simply stunning and the terrace -type garden feels like a continuation to the beautiful Trevelyan park which is next to the hotel. You can stroll to city center via this amazing park whose entrance practically abutts the hotel itself. I must say that the reviews for villa Diodoro weren't so great, lots of complains about the used furniture, bad bathrooms, too simple breakfast and so on....well it wasn't my experience at all, to me everything seemed exactly as it should be, fit for the town and for the experience that I envisioned. Serene and serendipity. The room was spacious and very clean, I loved the petite balcony ant the breathtaking views towards the sea and mountains. Breakfast was really ok and staff very helpful. Beds were quite comfortable. I spend 4 days in Taormina with mum and my aunt and felt exactly like the movie "Room with a view", a precious authentic italian/sicilian experience which was perfectly completed by the design of villa Diodoro hotel. Loved the corridors, the porcelains, paintings and sculptures, the garden with its terraces, stairs, porticos and luxurious flowers, the timeless and tasteful salons/lounges. Lost in a beautiful time but with all the comfort of modern society, that was the feeling. So the furniture and whole hotel decorum was not used, but well kept and entirely fit to the whole idea of a Sicilian costal paradise escape.

The location was exceptional. Next door to the beautiful gardens and so close to the old town. The pool was beautiful with amazing views over Taormina and the sea and mountains. We had a large balcony which was amazing.

This is a beautiful grand old hotel but could do with a freshen up. The carpets throughout should be changed. The taps in the bathroom need to be replaced and the beds could do with a change as I think they are quite old . The towels were thinner than normal towels found in a 4 star hotel. Coffee was also not to standard which came out of machine. During checkin we didn’t find that the staff were as welcoming as other hotels we have stayed in.

Hotel is perfectly located close to the main town and restaurants and shops. The view from the villa was the highlight they were postcard worthy so nice to see the water and the towns surrounding the bay especially at night with fireworks. The rooms are spacious and clean and there is a small rising damp smell but you don’t notice it after the first day but you have to consider it’s built into a rock face and under a pool so lots of these hotels would have the same not to mention these hotels were built years ago and waterproofing was not a thought back then. The staff were very helpful particularly the porters and the front desk staff. The bus to the private beach of their sister hotel was really handy and beautiful but make sure you book a spot the day before in peak times as you will miss out otherwise. The pool was really useful as it was so hot in Taormina and it’s clean and quite big. We will definitely be back!

The pool is fantastic, it has an amazing view, didn't feel they made the most of that on their photos. I believe they have recently renewed the sunloungers and the pool towels. This was good.

The pool is a big selling point of this hotel, so why it has to close at 1800 seems a strange idea, and is quite frustrating. 1930 would seem more appropriate. The reception staff were very rude both at check in and when I mentioned that my car had been scraped. Also as previous comments concur the breakfast is very disappointing. Lack of fresh fruit, coffee is undrinkable. With just a few weeks this hotel would be outstanding but then the price would go up.

The hotel is basically built on a rock and provided that you have paid the extra money for the seaview (you should as it is stunningly beautiful!) then this is an absolute treat with the sea, surrounding towns and the volcano Etna. Our stay was during the Christmas and it wasn't that many guests so that gave us a very tranquil stay. The staff were excellent. Somehow they managed to be there when you needed them. After a while you got to know the staff at the breakfast buffet. The hotel is located within walking distance of the city centre, the Teatro greco, the funivia and many other things. Right next door is the city park of Taormina.

Unless you intend to spend the entire time in Taormina you will need a car to get around outside of Taormina and parking spaces are limited. But somehow it managed to solve itself everyday.

Fourth visit,so we must like it. Excellent breakfast. Outstanding views. Best pool in Taormina

Chaotic car park. No draught beer at the bar. Failure to provide coffee at breakfast despite three requests.(We waited 40 minutes, then the waiter said "they are just making it). We gave up.

Location: Incredible position on the Ionian Sea-it shares the same view as it neighboring much more expensive hotels. 5-10 min walk uphill to Corso Umberto. 10 min walk on relatively flat ground to Funuvia to Isola Bella Room: Our superior rooms were facing the Sea and appeared to have recently upgraded all white marble bathrooms. Towels were thing but plentiful. Hotel Amenities: I agree that the Hotel could be a 4 star but since it is a little faded it is not. Although, I would say it’s a very good 3 star. Our bed was comfortable-two beds pushed together for a king is fairly common in Europe so that did not bother us. The pool was gorgeous-luxurious towels, new lounge chairs, a wonderful bar service with cocktails and nice snacks provided, service was wonderful, and there was DJ/kid entertainment one day and piano bar another. The bus to there sister hotel at Spisone beach was very convenient with chairs and towels provided free of charge. This was a nice perk especially since Isola Bella is so very crowded and chairs are quickly taken. Continental breakfast was perfect for us delicious cheeses and cold meats various breads/pastries/fruit/coffees/teas….but if you like a full scale hot breakfast there’s not much offered.

Nothing….Overall for Taormina, I believe you get what you pay for and more with this hotel. A beautiful view/pool with beach access/ comfortable rooms which are extremely clean—this season at this price point it will be very is hard to find-something better. If you require finer details in a hotel stay you will need to increase your budget…

The location close to everything The views are stunning from every perspective The hotel is a bit old fashioned but very clean and brings this dolce vita feeling ... The swimming-pool was fantastic ( big / clean ) The snacks at the bar were affordable and quite good quality

The breakfast can be better : The staff serving breakfast was quite rude sometimes and try to decide for you instead of listening to the needs of the customer. Bottles of Water should be for free in the rooms in my opinion with a cap per day.
