I knew Al Malcanton was good enough before I booked it. But it still surprised me when we arrived at Venice. It was a terribly hot afternoon when we arrive at the Roma Square by taxi. When we checked Google map and found that there was only 240 meters' flat-walk to the hotel, everyone of my group smiled. The hotel is classic and beautiful. Their staff members are very lovely, friendly, and helpful. They answered all our questions, not only about the hotel, but also about the city, the transportation, and even helped us to call water taxi!. The breakfast was amazing, especially coffee :-). The bathrooms are so functional and spacious (we never expected a spacious bathroom in Venice and you know why!) ... anyway, if you arrive at Venice with a big carrying luggage, Al Malcanton is your best choice. Look no further. We will definitely come back again. We have stayed in many hotels. Al Malcanton is a special one which stays in our memory forever.

Well situated, at 7-8 minutes walking from the Piazzale Roma, the bus stop where the bus takes you from the Marco Polo airport in 20-25 minutes.

Although it was my second stay, when my friend couldn’t come as she was last minute in hospital and I have announced it a few days earlier to the host, they were inflexible about changing the room or the price, so I paid the double. A bit of flexibility would have been appropriate as this hotel has guests always and could have made a switch for the room. Especially for several times customers and potential regulars - it was my 3rd year in a row in Venice for the Biennale.

The location was not too far from train or bus stations. The staff was super friendly and helped us upstairs with our luggage. He also helped us using the map he provided for us to use as it was our first time in Venice. We were about 20 minutes from the Rialto Bridge, but we did stop for photos along the way and to do some reading of menus. We were able to easily find our way back to the hotel using the map and the landmark bridge. Even though breakfast was served, we did not partake in it as we wanted to try a couple coffee bars. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Venice and would stay here again.

If you have more than one piece of luggage per person, there will not be a lot of room to maneuver.

Staff are great you feel like if you were within your family all of them! I asked for surprise of flower to my wife but with short notice just 1 day before we came, but they had made it and that made my wife happy. Location is the best considering we have heavy luggage with us where you will need around 10 min and to cross 2 bridges only. Room, stairs, the garden and halls are reflection of Venice culture and vibes where we have enjoyed. We made our rounds in Venice all on feet as they provided us with map showing all sites and paths. You feel love and generosity in everything. They offer good price breakfast. They offer good minibar with daily maintaining We liked the whole experience!

Almost nothing

We were exhausted when we finally found the hotel..we had walked a long time over terrain we are not used too. We also found it difficult to locate especially due to lack of signage. (as seems typical of the city)When we learned the room was up a flight of stairs I was very upset as I cannot carry more than 10-15 lbs, I thought I had asked to for 2 beds and AC. But the front desk person continued to try to address my concerns and offered a room on the main level, and the room cooled down effectively. When I was rested and settled I was very glad for the accommodations and the friendliness of the persons owning the establishment. The quaintness and all of it qualities added to our Venice experience in a positive and genuine way. Food and food service was very good, variety was appreciated and enjoyed.

street level was a bit noisy at times., especially on Sat night.

Great location. Very easy to get to hotel from airport (just one bus for about 20mins!). Within 30mins walking distance to all main attractions. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming - gave us a brochure with a map of Venice and recommended things to see!

Only things I can potentially comment on which were less good: (1) During our 2 night stay our towels were not replaced for new ones (but bedding was?) (2) Lamp hanging over the bed was very dusty (I was sneezing a lot as a result) (3) No sockets near either side of bed so phone charging at night meant we had to put our phones on the other side of the room Again, the above were only very minor faults which definitely did not overweigh the positives of our stay in this hotel.

The room was so nice and unique and we couldn't get over how cute it was. The lady behind the front desk was extremely nice and very helpful about navigating the city. We didn't have breakfast but we did walk in the one morning and it looks/smelled amazing. The room was plenty of space and the bathroom was great size. Also thought the bed was one of the comfier ones that we slept in throughout our trip.

Location was good for the train station and main bus stop but was a little far from all the bigger tourist attractions. Not that big of a deal if you don't have a problem walking everywhere (which we didn't) but could be a problem if you aren't good at navigating to further destinations.

Charming hotel in the quiet Dorsoduro district of Venice. Facilities were good, room was clean and the staff was extremely helpful and provided good recommendations to the city. Didn't opt for the hotel breakfast as there were tons of cafes and restaurants nearby. Easy walk to the San Marco area as well.

Nothing particularly - everything was nice. Could have been cheaper but that's just Venice for you.

The bed and the bedding (sheets, pillows etc.): extremely comfortable - almost luxurious, which was a wonderful surprise in a non-5 star hotel! The location: tucked away in a quiet, hidden corner of Dorsoduro, almost as if you are in Venice of 20+ years ago, before mass tourism... The staff: local, humble and cheerful, always taking time and consideration to answer my questions.

In my room, water was only available from the bathroom sink which made refilling water bottles a challenge!

The hotel is away from busy streets and in a quiet courtyard. It's near the train station and many eateries. Across the bridge is AI 133 where you can have coffee and croissants or a spritz later. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is very accommodating by allowing us to leave out luggage before and after check-in or check-out. Highly recommend!
