Normally I do not put a lot of effort into writing a good review, but Lakeside Hotel deserves an exception because it was that excellent and unforgettable !! The service of this family hotel is unlike I have ever seen. Best example: the hotel owner went with us to the train-station to make sure we got the last 2 seats on the bus we needed to take. And friendliness is taken to the next level by the whole staff! Now the hotel itself. If you want to experience Japanese culture in a hotel setting, this is the place to go. We recommend the Japanese style room! Waking up with an impressive Mount Fuji view is something else :) The Onsen is also incredibly relaxing. After a long day cycling around the lakes chilling in a thermal bath is just what you need. It is accessible for everybody in the hotel, and it’s naked. No worries, men and women are separates. But believe me, it’s worth it to set your self awareness aside and let those butt cheeks free. The breakfast was amazing. It’s super Japanese. You feel like you are in a manga. And it’s all homemade. And when you eat you have again an impeccable view of Mount Fuji. Location wise it’s also amazing. Close to a bus stop where all the hop on hop off busses passes. So easy to go everywhere. Amazing Japanese restaurants in the area and the lake views are amazing. A short stroll from the hotel and you can see the reflection of Mount Fuji in the water. When you choose to visit Kawaguchiko, go to the Lakeside hotel and you will have an amazing stay!

It was our best stay in Japan. The location is perfect - we saw Mt Fuji from our room, with the lake also visible. The property is conveniently next to the bus stop, with the lake just across the road. Absolutely pretty views, plus the room was clean and suitably provided for. The hosts were kind and warm, and went the extra mile - quite literally since he dropped us to FujiQ bus stop, slightly ahead of the shuttle drop point of Kawaguchiko Station. We had a splendid quiet time here.
Opening the windows, one could hear noise from the road, but with double windows, we didnt face any issues. Bathroom was slightly cramped, but that's a feature of Japanese bathrooms! Everything was great

This was a lovely experience from start to end. I found it hard researching a good place to stay at around Lake Kawaguchiko: there are many options, not many website in English and I was traveling with elderly parents. All in all, it seemed like anything I chose would entail some sort of compromise. So it was a gamble. But this one paid off - and there were no compromises. The location is wonderful (on the route of the sightseeing buses, a 2-min walk from the bridge and lake and Mount Fuji visible from the room. For those who like to walk, the station and more dining options are about 20-mins away. The couple running the inn are a delight. The inn itself is as if it was frozen in the 1980s in pristine condition. Everything works. The hot spring was a highlight for us. It was our first experience and it did not disappoint. A bit intimidating to go commando in a public bath, yet they way they do it so nonchalantly made it easier. By our third time, it was as if we'd been doing it all our lives! Can't wait to go back.

Honestly the best hotel i have stayed in Japan. After calling him via the Kawaguchiko information counter, the owner will pick you up from Kawaguchiko Station bus stop 10. He is very friendly and kind. He carried the spirit of Japanese culture very well. There is onsen for both men and women. Amazing water and heat. The location is amazing, able to see Mt Fuji on a clear day from the hotel lobby and my hotel room. For Muslims, the Kawaguchiko Masjid is just opposite of the hotel within a min walk. If you want to go to the sightseeing bus or back to the station, the bus stop (no.5) is nearby @ Kawaguchiko Herb Hall. Overall, cute and cozy place and the owner is very friendly. He suggested and literally don’t mind sending us to Oishi park to see the beautiful park with Mt Fuji view.

The host/owner was incredibly friendly and very helpful, including the shuttle to/from Kawaguchiko Station, giving us some extra water for our Mt. Fuji hike and some Japanese candies for our long onward trip to Osaka. The onsen facility took a little getting used to but it was a pleasant treat, especially after the difficult climb to the summit of Mt.Fuji
There wasn't much that I didn't like but if I had to pick one thing, it was that you could hear some traffic during the day from the room so it was difficult for an afternoon nap after the Fuji hike but overall it was peaceful at night

It is a beautiful building, the manager says built in 1945. Amazing mid century design and looks, lovely jazz music. Cute doors a bit shorter. Amazing large tatami floored room with Mount Fuji view as described. Very friendly manager. The optional breakfast at 2500y was amazing and well worth it. The onsen was really great too, I used it twice a day! Location is lovely for walks around the lake, there are a few restaurants and a convenience store nearby. A bit out of town but there are buses if you need to get in.
Nothing, it was great.

Kawaguchiko Lakeside Hotel was an exceptional stay. The owners made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived at the Bus Station. They always offered to pick us up and drop us off, and were very kind and attentive throughout our stay. The property is in a good location near some convenience shops, restaurants and the beautiful Kawaguchiko Lake. The onsite Onsen was truly lovely and very much welcomed after long days hiking. I cannot fault this place, it truly was a wonderful stay and the best place we have stayed during our Japan holiday. The traditional Japanese Hotel style was also amazing to experience, with very comfortable futons and nice sized rooms. I highly recommend staying here and look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you so much for having us!
Cannot fault it! It really was such an amazing place to stay.

Loved my stay here. Manager-san is extremely kind and helpful. The room was bigger than i had expected for 1 person stay. Futon cover was super thick and fluffy. Location was fantastic— just 2 min walk to the bridge with a stunning view. Across the road from Kawaguchiko Herb Museum bus stop with all the sightseeing lines. 5 min walk to Lawson. A beautiful 40 min stroll around the lake to Oishi Park. Most importantly, i am OBSESSED with the traditional style windows. ❤️
I got viciously attacked by a mosquito one night and couldn't sleep at all. May be my fault however for opening the window. 🥲

Truly amazing host who went above and beyond in our stay. He gave us a free shuttle to and from the station, made sure we were well looked after throughout and offered us green tea on check-in and check-out! The breakfast was delicious, and the view of Fuji from the room was honestly perfect. The Japanese-style room was very large and the futons were very comfortable.
The location is slightly far away from Kawaguchiko station and the main attractions. The onsen was slightly too hot compared to other onsens.

We had a fantastic stay! The location was perfect, right by the lake with beautiful views of Mt. Fuji. The breakfast was delicious, and we loved the variety each morning. A special thanks to the owner and the staff for their incredible hospitality. They went above and beyond, offering to drop us at the station and even pick us up if needed—especially helpful with a toddler. Their kindness made our trip so much easier and enjoyable. We’re really grateful and can’t wait to come back!
