We had an absolutely fantastic time at Wafu Guesthouse Kashiwaya's place! The house was exactly as described. It was clean, spacious, and with all the amenities we could possibly need. The location was perfect – close to public transportation, and local attractions. The best part, our room facing directly to Mt Fuji! Host was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Check-in was seamless and made us feel right at home. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and convenient place in the area. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Beautiful and authentic Japanese experience. My previous stay was at a busy hotel in Tokyo, so coming to this guesthouse was a pleasant change. The view from my room was great: I literally woke up at 4'o clock in the morning because of Mount Fuji! Can highly recommend renting an e-bike and explore the lakes and mountains.

Everything was good. Location, staff, food, etc. No complains from me.

The property is very convenient to get to from the Kawaguchi-ko train station which we got to by the Fujisan Express from Fuji-Q Highland. I appreciated experiencing a traditional Japanese stay, especially sleeping on a futon. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, giving us a tour of the place at our arrival, helping us a lot with booking our dinner, and even driving us to the restaurant without an additional charge. It is a very short walk from a beautiful view of Fuji, which we woke up to see at sunrise. One of our rooms also had a view of Fuji from the window. I liked that the rooms each had names inspired by Japanese nature. I loved the traditional bath offered which you could use privately. It was very relaxing. If we had stayed for a little longer, perhaps we would have also had time to appreciate the Yukatas and Origami worksheets that were offered in the main hall. We appreciated the complimentary tea throughout our stay and the buns for breakfast. Although we didn’t buy anything, the place had beautiful handmade merchandise to sell.

I felt that my futon could have smelled better and could have been cleaner, it was slightly stained. After a long day, it was a little tedious to have to spread out the futon myself according to the instructions provided inside the room. One of our rooms’ doors was difficult to lock from the outside.

Best find in Fujikawaguchiko, it is a 5 minute walk from the train station and conveniently located (maybe 10 minutes) to the lake precinct. What sets Wafu apart though is the incredible hospitality and homeliness of the guesthouse. If you book the family room, you get the most incredible view of Mt Fuji in the morning, the homemade Shabu Shabu is a must. There were two heaters in the room and plenty of blankets. There are private showers (not something we had in all of our accommodation in Japan) and plenty of guidebooks around to help you plan your days. There was also a lovely lounge area to relax in with comfy couches and tables to have breakfast at. Loved our stay and would highly recommend to all.

For this price there is nothing to dislike.

I really enjoyed my stay at this guesthouse. The Location is perfect. Close to the train/ bus station and also not far away from the lake. Many shops/ Restaurants nearby. The guesthouse itself is a lovely, small and clean japanese style accomondation. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They show you around and explain everythink well. My room was very large (I realized I have booked a family room) with everythink you could possibly need. But the best was that I could see Mt. Fuji from my window when it was not cloudy. I also liked the lounge room and the kitchen (which was quite big for japanese standards). They have a room where you can try on Kimonos / yukatas and make pictures for free. You will get a very easy but free breakfast every day too. Its not super comfortable to sleep only on an futon matress (you already know this when you book it), however it was definintely an experience you should try at least once. I would 100% recommend this guesthouse to everyone.

Aproximity to places It close to the transport hub for train and buses to the surrounding areas. And it is also walking distances to some of the attraction like lake Kawaguchio and the panoramic ropeway. They are about 500m away. It is great walking in this area during fine weather. There are convenient stores, food places, fruits shops and even a laundromat too. Accomodation Clean and tidy. Mark and his wife were very helpful and diligent in making sure we have our simple breakfast of toast and jam. The pantry is well stocked with tea and coffee and hot water. Kitchen is open for use. Our rooms were facing Mt Fuji and they have tatami mat as flooring. We were provided with full Japanese bedding. Unique experience of staying in a traditional Japanese house. We requested for an extra night plus a homecooked dinner. Mark gracious acceded to those requests.

Nothing. We are blessed to have this place for three days. Awesome.

I don't understand how anyone could ever give less than 5 stars here. It's a perfect, authentic Japanese living experience. Sleeping on Futon beds, traditional japanese rooms and great recommendations from the host. She called the owners of nearby temples to arrange a Zazen-meditation for us. Sadly, everything was booked out but the owner really put in the effort and we appreciated it so much. Don't forget to eat the guesthouses Shabu-shabu. It's really really good and doesn't cost much at all compared to the restaurants nearby. If you want an accommodation that is truly authentic and traditional, this is the place to go. The owner Ikea really put 100% in to make us feel comfortable. A very little, basic breakfast is also included, even though we did not expect it. And a little terrace with views of Mt Fuji😍🇯🇵

Pillows are a bit stiff

View from my room was excellent, could see Mount Fuji right out of the window. Location was great too, just 5 mins from Kawaguchiko Station, with Lawson just minutes away for your convenience. In fact, walking to Lake Kawaguchiko is fairly doable too if you're game - approx ~15mins (at least towards - coming back up is on a uphill). Breakfast was included for free, though quite simple.

Shower timings could be less restrictive. I could understand why it's not allowed too late or too early, but not sure why it was off limits in the afternoon too... No blackout curtains so the sunlight will inevitably wake you up but I guess that's part of the charm of a traditional guesthouse.

Fantastic stay at Wafu Guest House. Such a beautiful traditional experience at great value. If you are ok with sleeping on Futons you will love this guest house. The owner and staff are lovely and make you feel at home. Very nice to be able to visit the supermarket 5mins walk away and eat in the lovely lounge area or in your room. My room "Take" had a view of Fugi which I loved. Highly recommended if you are staying in Kawaguchiko, 4 min walk to the station, bike rental and restaurants near by.

If you are tall be ready to duck a lot. Haaa☺️👍

Amazing little guesthouse in Kawaguchiko. It is 5 minutes from the station, and easily walkable to other activities and attractions. I was expecting to stay in a dorm, so I was surprised to find out I had a traditional room to myself! I loved the furnishings in the common area, and the entire place was kept clean and tidy. Having a laundry machine and dryer was also very useful. The owner was absolutely wonderful, and looked after my luggage for me after I checked out so I could do some more sightseeing in the area. Would highly recommend this place - I wish I stayed a few more nights!
