The breakfast was honestly one of the best things I have eaten during my time in Japan. I could taste how fresh the ingredients were. The hotel staff were kind and helpful. The hotel was at a splendid location as it was very close to the cable car that goes to Mount Hakodate, which had a beautiful view. It was also close to a lovely-looking church at the top of the hill. I definitely would go back during my holidays again.

It's situated on the outskirts, so for those who prefer modern shopping, take note that there are no nearby malls. The closest one would be a 2 hour walk away.

- Perfect location in a quiet area of Hakodate with the city tram station nearby and lots of places to eat, coffee, etc. 24/7 shop is also near. - The room was awesome. Really loved it. - Helpful staff.

This one is more of a suggestion rather than dislike: - The smoking place is outside which is totally fine. However, it is not equipped even with a simple trash bin or stand. I used my portable ashtray no problem but I noticed some cigarette butts on the ground from less conscious guests. It’s a shame some tourists turn such a nice place into a dirty mess. Hopefully, a trash bin could be installed to avoid this.

We loved the coziness of the hotel. As soon as you enter you’ll see how quaint and homey the lobby is - it just makes you feel at home. We loved the thoughtfulness of putting a massage chair in the common area of our floor and serving tea, coffee, and juice every afternoon from 3pm-9pm. Staff is also very nice and friendly. Property is located near a 7-11 and the tram. It’s walking distance (7-10mins from the brick warehouses) Room is spacious and very clean. Would definitely love to stay here next time

Great location to explore the older areas of Hakodate - It's only two tram stops away from Hakodate station, and is within comfortable walking distance of the Red Brick Warehouses, the Mt Hakodate Ropeway station, as well as the numerous historic quarter museums/attractions such as the Old Public Hall and the Old British Consulate. The staff were very kind - I arrived around 2 hours before the stated check-in time, fully prepared to store my bag at reception and return later, but they informed me my room was already ready and I could check in, which was great! I also kept my suitcase on the day I was leaving as I had a significant chunk of the morning and early afternoon before my train, and they accommodated this. The room was great - I chose a Japanese-style room in a curious triangular layout (it actually overlooks part of the lobby) which was very comfortable. There was some wear and tear in places but nothing untoward - everything was clean and tidy and in great working order. The lobby was very nice and there were various things such as vending machines (including alcohol), ice-cream freezers, and toys in a comfortable but classy setting. They also offered breakfast from a nearby farm-to-table cafe which looked delicious but I was unable to try due to my busy schedule.

One of the windows in the room was suffering some kind of condensation or leak problem - it was very cold and wet to the touch (I visited in mid-December and there was plenty of snow on the ground) and the staff had packed towels underneath it to prevent any further leakage, plus a sign that said do not open. Unsure if this was just a temporary issue, but it was a bit drafty and it felt like it was causing the carpet directly underneath the window to be damp. Hopefully fixable, and didn't cause me much concern as it was -15 outside so I wasn't planning to open it anyway, but a little unexpected to see.

La Jolie was clean and bright. The free drinks and snacks in the lobby and the afternoon were a hit with all of us especially our children. Free laundry machines were great! The family-suite room was nice, roomy but with five beds became a little more cramped, understandably. Convenient for wandering around Motomachi and Mt Hakodateyama area.

Mostly nitpicky things. Getting the wifi to work from our room was tricky, but eventually sorted out. The hotel no longer offered breakfasts, and a staff member explained that unfortunately they have not had the staff for half a year to be able to do so. We didn't notice much other impact from understaffing during our stay. Getting to and from restaurants/morning market or the train station was a bit of work.

Everything and everyone made this a home from home experience. Fairly modern hotel with very comfortable beds and good sized and mainly, quiet rooms. Kitchen equipment is available to use by guests and late afternoon into the evening there’s fresh, complimentary teas, coffee and cookies provided in reception. Location is great. Next to the tram line and within walking distance of most local places. Fast and reliable WiFi and well equipped room with desks, chairs and table.

No slope for suitcases in the front of the hotel. Bathrooms are a modular add-on and are difficult to get in and out from with a 9-10 inch step, narrow doorway and no handrail. An additional, external step would make the process easier. Some noisy machinery (heating) outside the room. In sufficient lighting and some power sockets not working.

A hotel with cozy atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and polite. Even though the furnishings are abit dated, but the tidiness and cleanliness make up for it. Lobby has a festive atmosphere too as I stayed near Halloween. Location-wise, it was good for me and the tram station was just mins away. This is a good location with a yummy takoyaki stall nearby😉 actually I stayed before back in 2018 while it was under the management of another company, the feelings has not changed at all, kudos to current management for keeping up the great work.

Room didn't have a full mirror. And you really have to be mindful to take out ur garbage and towels that needs to be changed every morning. This is alright if you have a habit of cleaning up, but may prove a chore to people who prefers hotel staff to clean up daily. Other than that, everything was great😄😄

Really pleasant hotel about a 30 walk from the station (or you can get the tram) Reasonable sized nice room and good bathroom. People at the front desk very helpful and nice. The hotel doesn’t do breakfasts - I think this makes sense as one of the major draws of Hakodate is breakfast at the fish market - but there are places to go on the harbour about a 10-15 min walk away. at first glance the location seems a bit out of the way but it’s actually well placed for many of the main draws - the cable car and the harbour. Eating out at night requires a bit of thought as there are not that many places immediately around but it’s just a question of going further into town.

The room and hotel design were so beautiful, celebrating in 30s style the meeting of Eastern and Western civilisation that the port of Hakodate brought to the city. The raised tatami with the mattress lodged into it (rather than on top) has a corner with a table and two seats, making for a lovely breakfast after a good night of comfortable sleep. The staff were super helpful, booking us restaurants, giving recommendations, holding our luggage after checkout for almost a whole day (we even went baci to store more stuff after a market tour). The hotel is very well-located in relation to both port and up-hill multicultural preservation district.

The room had windows but they could not be opened (screw-locked, not broken) because of how it is placed in the building. So, it’s an interior room, whereas from the pictures I saw windows with a warm light coming in and I assumed they could be opened. I might have not examined the room details close enough (doubt it), but probably this detail should be more clearly advertised. The AC and dehumifier system in the room made for an extremely pleasant and comfortable stay nonetheless.

This hotel is well located in the attractive Motomachi area of Hakodate, near the harbor, very close to the ropeway up Mount Hakodate, and with interesting and historic buildings throughout the neighborhood. It also sits right along the streetcar line. The hotel has a small parking lot for a nominal cost, very convenient if you are driving. We reserved a large room with a balcony facing Mount Hakodate, which was lovely, providing outstanding night views of the mountain. The room size was perfect - spacious for our group of three friends. A seating area with table in the center of the room provided a comfortable place to gather and converse after a day's activities. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We did not reserve breakfast with the room. We asked if it was possible to take breakfast for an added fee, and understood that it was not. In our experience, there are few places to enjoy a sit-down breakfast in the area, so be prepared. There is a convenience store on a nearby corner, however, with plenty of coffee and breakfast snacks.
