We loved staying at Sejour Mint. It’s a cosy, welcoming hotel just a 5 minute walk up a quiet lane to the Goryu lifts. John and his staff are delightful! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, the food is delicious ( we especially loved the Shabu-Shabu ) and we would definitely stay here again in future. A big thank you also for driving us to the local clinic when our daughter fractured her wrist on the slopes, and for taking us to the bus station to catch the last connection on a very snowy evening. Such kindness was truly appreciated 😊

There was nothing we disliked about Sejour Mint. It’s a gem.

Staff - Jon was super helpful and accommodating, he picked us up from the train station. He even drove us to our other accommodation when our stay was complete. He also helped us out during our other accommodation crisis, which was much appreciated by our whole family. They even gave us a farewell gift of Japanese sweets/biscuits. Location - Was close to Goryu ski lifts, approx 10min walk up the hill (I walk slow). Close to the couple of restaurants near by, also 10min walk. Rooms - Clean, comfortable & functional and contained our family of 4. I would highly recommend staying here if you come to Hakuba.

Everything was to our liking, the only advice I would offer, is that the transient staff that work here could do with more training in hospitality/customer service. However, this did not deter from our stay here.

Jon and his staff were so accommodating and friendly. Sejour Mint is a very cosy and family friendly small hotel. It is less than 10min walk to Goryu.

The property was beautiful from the outside and extremely warm and cozy on the inside having many traditional elements including an onsen. Our stay was highlighted by exceptional staff, Jon was amazing, and the French and New Zealander girls were also incredible. The food was excellent (we had the Shabu-Shabu), and the rooms were very comfortable. The views in and around the hotel are absolutely stunning, and it is exceptionally well located, a very short walk from Goryu’s Escal Plaza. Jon was kind enough to drive us all the way to a restaurant booking on the other side of town when we couldn’t find a taxi, for such a busy man, this was incredibly helpful and selfless of him, such a great guy. Really the best stay we’ve had in 3 weeks going around Japan. Exceptional stay, 20/5.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. John and his crew were very friendly and helpful with our booking, things to do around the mountain and any other queries we had. The location was perfect for us as we are avid snowboarders and only needed to hike a small distance to one of the main runs of Hakuba Goryu. If we travel, when we travel to Japan again, we will be staying here once again!

Our room had a window to the hallway which had a light. On some occasions during the night it would turn on and as the curtains were translucent some light would shine through interrupting our sleep. A simple fix with a different curtain would have made our time perfect!!

Location short walk to Goryu ski resort or shuttle bus nearby. Comfortable, good daily breakfast alternating between Japanese/ western. Microwave available, perfect for heating own food. Small Fridge in rooms. Hot bath men’s/ women’s separate 24/7, great for after a day skiing. TV with Netflix available- handy for nighttime relaxing in room. Jon very helpful with transport to stations with luggage. Also provides discounts for ski hire & lift tickets. Very comfortable & friendly staff!

Entry room not heated. Which didn’t help with drying wet shoes, which need removing before entry to hotel.

Excellent stay here. Had more of a feel of an b&b rather than a hotel. All the staff were super helpful and we bought our lift passes which were slightly discounted compared to buying at the resort. We got a cooked breakfast each morning as well as cereals, juice and hot drinks. The hotel is a short walk from escal goryu plaza so we were just able to walk with our ski gear each morning. We stayed in Japanese style room which was a good size and really comfortable. There is also a small onsen which was really nice after a big day of skiing.

The owner, Jon! He is an outstanding host who goes above and beyond. It was like a home away from home rather than a hotel. Starting with fantastic communication and pick up from the bus, and a hot chocolate when we walked in the door. The warmth and hospitality from all staff is unparalleled. The location is amazing, a short walk up the road to Escal Plaza/Goyru ski field. From here you can take the shuttle bus between ski fields right up the valley, or if you want to pop into Hakuba to get groceries/supplies, or cash. You need cash everywhere in Japan, particularly for the buses in Hakuba (free if you’re snowboarding/skiing, otherwise ¥600 per trip). There are a selection of bars and restaurants very close by. Kamui in particular, an amazing Japanese restaurant a 2 minute walk away. You can also have dinner at the hotel if you let them know in the morning, which we kept forgetting to do!! The breakfast included is fantastic, Japanese mostly so don’t expect croissants and pastries! Although most days it’s with a western flare of bacon and eggs etc. Perfect for a day on the snow, and huge portions. I’m vegetarian and this was well catered for. There is a drying room for your gear, and a self use laundry. They also have a comfy bar area for apres ski drinks, and a microwave if you want to heat your own meals, which you can get from the supermarket or Lawson’s convenience store in Hakuba. They have excellent choices. We didn’t want to leave!!

Jon and the team were so helpful and nice! He picked us up from the station the first day. The room was clean and comfortable for the two of us. The included breakfast was great, and alternated between Western and Japanese style. This is the perfect spot if you’re skiing Goryu as it’s a quick 10 min walk to the hill. The recommendation and discount for Cherry Rentals nearby was also appreciated. The lower level onsen was a great way to relax after a long day on the slopes. They also offer dinner (we had the Nabe hot pot) which was a great and tasty way to finish off the trip. Would recommend and stay again! Thanks!

There is so much to love about Hotel Sejour Mint. From the very first phone call on arrival at the train station, to our very reluctant departure (complete with a little gift of travel treats!), we felt like more than just guests, John and his wonderful team providing us with a warm and comfortable stay akin to a home away from home. Breakfast was a home-cooked hot meal that fuelled us well past the morning, each day delivering exciting new options. Dinner, and I heartily recommend you arrange dinner at the hotel, was one of the best meals we had in Japan. And we had a lot of meals in Japan! The Shabu Shabu was divine, and the Wagyu beef is some of the softest I have ever tasted. Make sure you try a glass of Nagano apple juice too! As a family of three we found our room to be a very comfortable size, and having a private bathroom was a nice luxury, especially given hotels at the same price point offer shared bathrooms. It was warm and after a day on the mountain the comfortable beds were a dream. There’s also a lovely Japanese bath - perfect for relaxing in while you wait for the washing machine to finish! The location is perfect, with a gentle walk up to Goryu - and a downhill back home following a day of shredding! Grab a crepe n your way back, and be sure to stop and give thanks at the small shrine on the way. If you don’t want to walk in your ski or board boots, take them with you and grab a locker when you get to the mountain. There is also a 7/11 and a supermarket within walking distance, which we enjoyed as a way of stretching out after boarding all day. You can also get lift passes and hire gear via the hotel, and the drying room has ample space to store your kit. And ask about luggage transfers if you’re not moving to another ski resort - so convenient! Would we come back? Absolutely!! Our stay with John was the best we had in Japan, and the best I’ve had at any ski resort.
