The most wonderful hosts you can find, absolute legends. All lovers of the local nature, travelers from abroad that settled down in Japan to help out fellow travelers, especially snowboarders/skiers in the winter. We went in summer and hiked in Daisetsuzan, that was just as great an experience, made all the better by our stay at Yukiumi. Would not have wanted to miss this house in favour of something closer to Daisetsuzan. The house offers extra services depending on summer/winter, including food, drinks, guided tours of Daisetsuzan, drop off by car, etc. The rooms are quite spacious for two people, but you can just as easily fit more if you have your own bedding. While we were there a group of three slept nextdoor. The whole house is very pretty and full of character, with souvenirs strewn about. We even got some free corn from our host, who gets it as gift every harvest season from a farmer friend. Shows they have good relations with the neighbourhood. Not to mention we payed a very minimal price for it all. Oh, and there's a guestbook for you to write in and read some heartwarming testimonies from other guests. The hosts speak both English and Japanese without difficulty.

The sink for brushing teeth etc. is in a hallway, so privacy concious people will be uncomfortable. The location is a little walk from the station or nearest bus stop. Not far at all, but not centrally located. Besides, Kamikawa itself is not worth visiting, you stay here to go to Daisetsuzan. My friend who travelled with me is very tall, he had trouble with the barrier at the end of the bed.

It was really comfortable to stay in this guest house. The place was really cozy, it's like you are staying on your own house! You can use all kitchen staff, the bed was comfy, and there was a BBQ place outside, stargazing was there all night. Recommended place if you go by car. The staff was also really nice, and the autumn leaves surrounded you was really beautiful!

I though it was cold because there is no heater inside the room (2nd floor), but the bed and the blanket is warm enough. I'm not really sure in the winter, but it'd better to prepare a warm clothes when you stay here

Had a great stay! Roxy was a wonderful host. The room was great and the futons comfortable. There's a large shared kitchen and living room. The area around is very pretty and there's a surprising amount going on in such a small town. From great ramen spots to the nearby ropeway and mountains. There is also a sake brewery. A shrine that has wonderful goshuin. And a park with some beautiful cherry blossoms. We caught an amazing view with the pink hues of sunset emphasising the cherry blossoms and hitting the snow-capped mountains in the distance.

This small and cozy place was just a cute gem to stumble upon. Great location, great atmosphere, and Roxy the host really helped us settle in and gave us great tips about the area and how to plan our next few days. There is also a big kitchen with all you can ask for, and so we cooked our own dinner and dined in with the other guests at the common living room. Anyway, this kind of house beats all other hotels in the area, trust me.

Not a single thing.

Quiet location. About 15min walk from the JR station if you don't have a vehicle. The scent of tatami mats, the sound of cicadas, the cool breeze of the night.

The crows in the morning are very noisy and woke me up

The property was gorgeous, super clean and comfortable and warm. The owner was incredibly friendly and made us an amazing dinner. We booked last minute and had no trouble. The surrounding area was beautiful.

Great launching spot for exploring the area, the town is a bit quiet though.

Location to the National Park and the people we met.

The rubbish required emptying however, the staff who arrived were under pressure. The usual staff member had been hospitalised.

Cosy little guesthouse in a quiet area with lovely mountains all around (if the weather is clear enough to see them!). The staff were absolutely wonderful, gave great tips, and made me feel right at home. I was sad to say goodbye!
