SHE, loved it! The location, just a short stroll from Kyoto Station was perfect. It was near the local shops and sendi. It was perfect experiencing real life in Kyoto, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. The facilities were perfect- a small kitchenette and a soaking bath for after a bigggggg day of ‘touristing’. The lounge vibe in the lobby was amazing. The snacks and drinks were an added bonus. The pillows and mattress were just the best. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe staying at SHE, and in the surrounding area.

I would have loved a top sheet on the bed.

The staff were absolutely incredible. They treated us like royalty, answered all of our questions, and just overall did everything they could to help us. They all had excellent English and it made it a lot easier. The bed was also really comfortable and the room overall was nice. The record player is really cool and unique, and the free ice cream was actually very tasty - definitely take advantage of that.

The bathroom was simply too small for me, and I am 6 foot. The toilet was difficult to use, and the condensation in the room was sometimes a bit much (we had to leave all the windows open etc). Other than that, the room itself was very, very good, especially for the price.

I've stayed at this hotel twice now, I have been happy both times. The rooms are cute, and the vibe is very friendly and chill. I've stayed in the smaller standard room and now the deluxe room, and I definitely recommend the deluxe for a little extra space, especially if you have a lot of luggage. Staff is super friendly and happy to help with directions, questions, and restaurant recommendations. The ice cream bar is adorable, and guests get a free scoop each day they stay! Laundry area is easily accessible, coin-operated, not too expensive. I personally like the location, as it's in a quieter part of the city, only one subway stop down from the main Kyoto station and an easy one block walk. Because the station is quiet you don't have to fight any crowds to buy tickets or recharge your IC card. There's also a pretty big 7-11 around the corner.

Since it's in a quiet part of the city, there's not too much to see or do right by the hotel, but a very quick ride on the subway gets you to central Kyoto so I didn't find it to be too much of an issue. The bathrooms are also fairly small, though nice enough. Traveling as a couple it's a bit...cozy to share (more of a "one at a time" deal) but doable.

Everything was great and went beyond my expectations for a 2-star hotel. The rating is probably due to the fact that the reception is not open 24 hours, but that was absolutely not a problem. I arrived late at night and they provided me with all the instructions to do the self-check-in. The location is very convenient, near Kyoto Station, with plenty of dining and entertainment options within walking distance. The room was cozy and had all the necessary amenities, even more than I expected, such as make-up remover, face lotion, etc.

The room is not cleaned daily, but only if you stay more than 3 nights, I think. But considering the price, I can't complain.

The style(the classic record player in the room actually worked; I love it! I also loved the toiletries), the strong wifi and ice cream with snacks in the evening. It has some small restaurants nearby which are very good. The price is cheaper than those bigger hotels next to Kyoto Station, and it gives the cozy, local neighborhood taste.

The location actually was quite convenient but one should study the map a bit to understand. It can be reached even by walk from Kyoto Station (about 10-12min straight walk on one main road) or less than 5 min walk from Jujo Station which is one stop away from Kyoto Station). It may look like not many restaurants nearby but actually, once again, if one googled in advance will find a few interesting small restaurants in the tiny alleys.

The room was as advertised, and it have facilities like any other travel hotel around the city. However, it was the fact that there is a vinyl player in each room that really made me book this hotel, and I was so glad I did! I love that the vinyl player was in working condition and you are able to rent it at the counter, 2 at a time. I was able to send my luggage to the hotel beforehand and the receptionist bought it up to my room when I had arrived earlier during my check in. Love the vibe of the small hotel and that it is relatively close to the station as well (at the exit with a lift, which is a plus point). You get a scoop of ice cream and free beer (after 5pm) per day of your stay. Would definitely come back again if I am back in Kyoto!

The staff were friendly and willing to help with directions and how to find places. English language was a bonus! The daily ice cream was a great idea. Choice of bathroom products and supply of towels was plentiful and good quality. Maybe a service to clear the room rubbish every second day?? Location, near the main train station and bus lines into Gion and other popular areas was fantastic!

I would have liked just coffee in the morning or a more simple breakfast. I think there was only a fixed breakfast which did not appeal to me - too much food. Apparently there was a kitchen for guests to use which I didn't know about until the end of my stay. A TV in the room would have been nice with an English language streaming service such as Netflix. This could be optional with an extra fee.

Such a hip hotel. I loved the decor and vibe of the place. The hotel was clean, check in and out smooth, hotel staff was nice with good English. The hotel was not close to where the action was, but close to a subway station, making travel easy and really not too far of a walk to Kyoto station. I also managed to walk to Fushimi Inari from the hotel. I loved that there is a LP player in the room, although I didn't stay long enough to much the most of it. Bonus to the stay was the free ice cream and a free drink in the evening.

Nothing. I enjoyed my short stay.

Awesome vibe to the place, retro decor and a cool playlist to relax in the guest lounge. Nice choice of records of which you can take 2 of your choosing up to your room. Delicious complimentary ice cream every day, and complimentary snacks and drinks every evening. A quick walk to Kyoto station. Friendly and super helpful staff, 10/10 would recommend!

Not that I didn’t like it, but it a suggestion of having some simple sandwiches or dumplings available after breakfast hours, or an arrangement with local eateries for easy ordering-in would be a nice plus ;)

Love the quirkiness of this hotel, as have stopped here before. All amenities provided. Clean and tidy. Free ice cream everyday. Record player in room and can sign out records. Chilled lounge area. Relatively close to a metro station and Kyoto train station, which has lots of food outlets. Lovely little eatery serving okonomiyoki just up the road.

We had not had breakfast here before so thought we would give it a go. You have to preorder the day before and it is a waffle, with either fruit or bacon in a box and a drink. Whilst it was tasty it was not quite what we were expecting and you have to state what time you will be down for breakfast. Bar bit expensive.
