Plenty of space for 3 people. Bathroom door closes very gently so great for light sleepers. Laundry and dryer machines for guests. Decent gym with free weights.

The blinds already blocked out the light, but they had second layer curtains that also blocked out light, so there was no way of allowing light to come into the room without people at street level looking into our room on first floor. They should have sheer curtains instead so we could get light into our room and still had privacy. The toilet paper is like those found in public toilet, so does not match the Hyatt brand at all. Guests staying at Hyatt branded hotels and had to use public toilet quality toilet paper in their 5-star hotel bathroom!

V clean and eco conscious The staff was v v helpful and friendly. The lady who made my omlette everyday was too sweet the min she would see me make it on her own. They were v good in giving me a different room from the one i had booked as there was an opening the night we checked for the room i wished to book but was sold out… Once i told them pls dont change my room temp after cleaning they understood and maintained it

They ddint have basic stuff like salt and all to take in the room if late in the evening. Despite cleaning request - glasses and cups were not replaced . The breakfast had v little veg options and no gluten free options. Had requested.

Location, location, location. Perched literally above the Martmachi subway station, you can walk from the hotel to the subway or even the bus stop completely underground. Great for the winter or the rainy season, though be aware there are pretty much no escalators.. use the elevator or be ready for stairs, Two stops north of the main festivities for Gion Matsuri this put us in a great position to visit the festivities and return back to home base with minimal effort. The hotel itself is separated into the main building and the annex... both were fine, but be aware of room locations when booking. Breakfast was a buffet with some good variety, and included with our rate so we found it a great option every morning. Rooms were comfortable, with all the amenities needed available downstairs as well. Having washing machines available in the hotel, especially with a web-based "in use" monitor, was handy as it came midway through ou trip and allowed us to do some cleanup. Be aware there are a limited number of machines, so they were heavily in use most hours we were there, and a small load takes 3 hours to wash and dry (same machine). Staff was helpful, lounge area on the first floor was great while waiting to check in, and overall made a great spot right in the middle of everything and super convenient to the sightseeing busses (202, 205, 93, etc).

They were unable to provide close rooms, which didn't phase us as it was a very busy time for Gion Matsuri, but if you get rooms in the annex and main building be aware keys from the Main won't work in the Annex so make the annex dwellers come meet you in the lobby.

clean, spacy big rooms with your own private bathroom (many hotels in Japan doesn't have that) - the hotel is literally next to Exit 6 of the subway station, you can even walk there dry footed on a rainy day. Linked with the hotel (access also possible via the lobby) is a super nice "School Bus Coffee Shop" - their pastries are amazing, authentic Danish - and coffee is really good. Chill vibe! I prefer that over the Hyatt breakfast buffet (which is also good, but just less chill vibe) - and the bed was super comfy, had the best sleep. There is free cold drinking water to be replinished in water dispensers on every floor.

The hotel is situated right above a subway entrance making it very convenient for public transport. There is a Family Mart convenience store about 100 m away and a bus stop as well. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The hotel has a gym which has decent variety of equipment. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine and microwave free for you to use. Each level has a water dispenser which was extremely convenient. There are a couple of washing machines and dryers available, however they're always usually taken. But the hotel is a 5 min walk away from a laundromat that accepts both card and cash and is open 24 hours. The staff were very accommodating to our needs and they will organize luggage to be sent to your next destination.

The pillows could be a bit better. While there is a laundry service downstairs, the washing machine and drier services the whole hotel, so you could be waiting for hours to use it. However, there is a laundromat 5 min walk away if you're short on time.

Right above an underground subway station, so easy to get to. The room, while not the biggest, was extremely well laid out and efficient. Everything is very modern. Super clean. McDonalds, Lawson, and 7-11 are a block away. Lots of outside dining options nearby. Palace grounds are also a block away. Front staff were excellent. I forgot to return a hotel key from my previous stay and they contacted the hotel and arranged for it to be returned courier without hesitation. Excellent service in this regard. It feels a bit more like a business hotel, but there were numerous families here and they offered things that were attractive to kids ( cotton candy machine on weekends, a little carnival style toy netting activity etc.). I'd stay here again without hesitation.

Breakfast buffet didn't offer huge variety. Not a lot of western fare other than omelet, potatoes and bacon and cereal, cut fruit. The laundry service could have had a couple more machines. There are only 3 or 4 machines and they were always busy. You can sign up to a website that provides live status reports on each machine, but you still had to be on it to get in! it would be preferred to add one or two more machines, in general. I think this is the most common complaint about this hotel!

Extremely convenient location with a subway located right beneath the hotel and a 10 minute ride to the Kyoto station. It’s centrally located within close proximity to many of the iconic attractions in Kyoto. Has a very nice breakfast with good continental and local spread. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Many restaurants and convenient stores available in the close proximity too. We had a lovely stay. Thank you Hyatt Place Kyoto!

3 washing machines were available for laundry. Wish it had a few more 😊

Very nice hotel with incredibly friendly staff. Everything was taken care of of, our room was in the 5th floor and had space for the luggage as well as a separate shower/bathtub room. There was a water and ice dispenser on our floor and tea and coffee for free in the lobby. The breakfast room was nice and lobby really comfortable as well. Good mixed (western/Japanese) breakfast. The hotel is right next to a subway station. You don't even have to get on the street from there to get into the lobby. The next bus station is 2-3 min by foot away and you can walk to the Imperial Palace or Nijo-jo easily.

The music in the lobby was rather loud. That made talking exhausting when relaxing in the lobby in the evening. At breakfast there was soup labelled "vegetable bouillon" that had bacon in it. Another guest argued with the staff that bacon is not vegetarian, which they unfortunately didn't understand. ("There is beef in the soup!" "No beef! Pork!")

The hotel is right beside a subway station - not that you hear any noise. It means that it’s very easy to get into the centre of town. The Imperial Palace is also quite close and it’s nice to walk in the shade of the palace grounds. Having a water station on each floor is also really good.

Breakfast is quite limited and the coffee machine is incredibly slow which builds up a queue there. It would also be helpful if they explained at check in how the bar area works as it never seems to be staffed.

A decent size room with all modern amenities. Very comfortable stay A very chic modern hotel with excellent breakfast options. Subway access just next door! Close to family mart. Even though it was on the main road we had no noise issues. Extremely quiet at night Ice maker and water cooler on the room foor!

We were to check out around 6:15 am to catch a train and requested the hotel staff for some basic breakfast like breads/jam/ready bakery items for us especially our kids. Their breakfast counter opened at 6 30 am and they were very hesitant to give us even that although it was a part of our stay package and asked us to wait till 6 30 am. Upon multiple requests to multiple people they relented at 6.25 and gave us some bread. It was really a let down after 6 wonderful nights of stay. I mean we understand there are rules but to be so stringent with them was totally unnecessary. Otherwise it was a great stay ! Would definitely recommend staying there.
