I really like the location, which is very convenient with a metro station not far, Teramachi at walking distance and several nice restaurants and cafes around. The staff was very friendly yet professional, and the breakfast very good.

We really liked this hotel. Family trip of 4 adults. Breakfast is if limited variety, but quite workable. A few Japanese options, and usually an egg dish, maybe bacon or sausages. Some breakfast bread/pastry, cereal, juices, yogurt, and fruit. Surely enough to fuel the start to your day, but nothing extravagant. Overall I was happy with the breakfast. Staff was 9%5 fantastic. Only issue we had was that while we booked and paid for fees for two guests per room, we were hit with a "second guest" fee. Honestly that issue was my only real complaint for this otherwise excellent small hotel in the heart of Kyoto. Location is fantastic, easy walk to trains, the market, tons of food opportunities abound within walking distance. The location is the #1 key to why I would stay again. Staff, aside from the one issue, was the #2 best thing this hotel has going for it. Rooms are somewhat small, but not by Japan standards. I would stay again.

If there is an issue with the booking partners the hotel is working with, they should manage that issue directly, and I should not "pay a second time" as the guest.

Very clean rooms, in a quiet location but still close to tourist spots like Nishiki Market, Pontocho alley, etc all in walking distance. Close to train stations and other essentials like convenience stores. Loved that the staff gave us a list of restaurant/cafe recommendations - we went to a few of them and were very happy with them! Some of the best meals we had on the trip. Staff were super friendly and we loved the option of checking in early/checking out late if I just signed up as a member with them for free which I happily did (I got a gift for doing so!). Rooms were spacious, definitely larger than what you get in Tokyo and for a better price. No complaints, I would definitely return and recommend to anyone staying in Kyoto.

Cleaning services weren't daily but you could request it if you wanted. No complaints otherwise!

The location was just off a Main Street but was very quiet and convenient, lots of small coffee shops convenience stores and restaurants near by. The metro was a 150 metres away and the main shopping area was just over the main road.The beds were comfortable and probably the best bathroom and shower in our two week and 4 hotel stay in Japan. lots to like.

Our room faced a close by building so not a lot of natural light. Only one washing machine and dryer downstairs so led to a bit of a queue at times, most hotels we visited had 2 or 3. Breakfast has a lot of different food so there was a good choice but it wasn't great quality, we only stayed once and tried other places as there are so many to try. it wasn't bad at all but not the best we had experienced.

This place is absolutely amazing. I have to say I never slept better, futon was super comfortable. Hotel is really nice in a really good location. Next time I'll visit Kyoto I will definitely choose it again

The rooms were very small but the room was made in an extremely contemporary way to make the most out of the space available. All the fittings and furniture were new and classy, the bathroom was very spacious as compared to some other hotels. The ventilation was also strong which helped with air circulation.The staff especially from Nepal were lovely.

The windows did not open and for a longer stay in spite of having the best amenities and ventilation can get stuffy. It requires natural light to bring space into the rooms. Also, it would be helpful to mention in the hotel description that the specific rooms do not have windows.

there are lots of good food in that area! appreciate that the hotel has a smoking room facility as you can't smoke anywhere on the streets. helpful, knowledgeable and friendly hotel staff to assist us! last but not least, room is so much bigger than other hotel rooms in japan! toilet is exceptionally huge too. they even accommodated to shift 2 single beds together upon request. TV was super huge too with netflix and youtube! we enjoyed a lot during our stay in oakwood oike kyoto!

location wasn't exactly close to subway stations. it takes about 10 minutes to walk. walk to the main shopping/food street is also 10 minutes away. other than that i have no other issues about this hotel!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is in a good location and easy to find. We appreciated that this hotel had laundry machines for use. Facilities were very clean. The breakfast buffet was the best part. It had a mix of Japanese and western foods. I really liked being able to have a traditional Japanese breakfast in the mornings during our travels

-The rooms are very small and so was the bed. Maybe it was a full size in American standards, didn't even feel like a queen. I also felt like the bed wasn't as comfortable as other beds we slept in throughout our trip. -While the hotel has laundry they only have one washer and one dryer. Which takes longer, especially when multiple people need to do laundry. The dryer also isn't very good so your clothes will still be damp afterwards and you'll need to air dry them in your room or spend more time of your trip waiting for the dryer. -The staff also didn't tell us until our last day that if you pre-buy the breakfast ticket the night before you get a discount. That would have saved us money as we ended up buying the breakfast every morning

The room is pretty spacious and very comfortable for two. There is ample space to place and open a luggage and backpack for easy access and the long table and chair also provides a horizontal place for laying out personal items . The property also provides an conducive atmosphere at the reception area for those that need a bit more space to do some work have a hot cup of tea or coffee (provided free at the reception lounge area). Just 200m from the hotel is an underground mall (ZEST mall) that is connected to the Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station and a short walk in the other direction (600m) would lead to the Karasuma Oike Station. On the whole, I found the property to be very clean, quiet and cozy with common amenities provided for travellers. It's also located in a more quiet district and a short walk (700m) to the Nishiki Market street which is a highly recommend place to visit for foodies. The rest of beautiful Kyoto probably needs no introduction. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Modern hotel, convenient location, minutes walk to Kyoto shopping area, and absolutely amazing staff! The service was the highlight of the stay. The room also offers a spacious, proper bathroom, unlike the smaller ones we usually see in Japanese hotels. Was the most comfortable hotel during my time in Japan, will definitely stay here again.

A bit of walk to the nearest train station, however the pavements are wide and comfortable if you are concerned about having many luggages. In general was not much of an issue since the main shopping/food street was just a short walk from the hotel.
