This hotel was truly exceptional, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was huge by any country's standards, but especially for Japan. The bed was very comfortable, and the rainfall shower and bath in the wet room were fantastic. The hotel provided complimentary drinks and snacks between 6pm-10pm which was very enjoyable. There is a subway station less than 2 minutes walk in one direction and a large lawsons 2 minutes the other, despite the roadside location and proximity to the subway, we heard no noise from outside or from other guests. Lots of areas within walking distance for day and night time. Would 100% reccomend to anyone!

Everything was fantastic!

I love the location of this property. There's a nice little river/stream that runs right by the hotel. The location for me was great. It wasn't in a busy or crowded area so the vibe was very relaxing. It was also close to Heian Jingu shrine, a cultural arts theater, and many interesting craft shops. The hotel is withing a few minutes walk from the nearest station. The rooms feel new and the hotel has a local artistic vibe.

I think I had an issue with connecting bluetooth on the tv a few times to connect to my streaming apps. I remember I had to get the staff to reset the tv once. Perhaps it was user error, but, at least for my stay, it was a little awkward to figure out how to use.

My wife and I stayed here during the 2024 April cherry blossom season. It was our first time in Kyoto. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the decor and overall design of the space. Staff greeted and guided us to our room. The room itself was perfect. Great lighting, an awesome view overlooking the adjacent river, comfy bed and a great bathroom. Also, the rooms were very quiet! Being able to enjoy a selection of different complimentary alcohols in the lobby during the evening hours was a cherry on top! Plus, the hotel itself is located in a GREAT location. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone!

Not a bad thing, just an fyi for people booking with larger parties. The hotel is smaller in terms of the amount of rooms available, so be mindful if booking with a larger party.

Very intimate feel due to a small number of rooms. Great lobby and a nice view on the river from the lobby and the room. During the evening there are free snacks and alcohol drinks of great quality at the lobby. The bathroom is fantastic - spacious and with a feature of connecting your device to play some music while you shower. Overall an amazing experience.

The breakfast doesn’t change much day to day and there are not many options of dishes and drinks. We stayed for 4 nights and it wasn’t that much of a problem, but during a longer stay I would find myself looking for different breakfast options in the area.

We didn take tbe breakfast but really enjoyed the free drinks and nibbles at night and enjoyed meeting other guests there. Coffee cake and chocolate as well as wide range of alcoholic and not drinks. A true luxury hotel in all aspects. So close to metro infact next door to it. Higashiyama station that takes you to city and easy access Nara via JR line interchange so no need tour there. We did other tours though of Gion and Sagano train.

Nothing really. Only that toiletlight isso bright and onauto so if use in night then wow wakes you up big time lol

The Tassel Hotel Sanjo Shirakawa has the perfect location in Kyoto. It is right next to the subway entrance/exit which makes it a delight when wanting to get around in the area or if you are arriving/leaving with your luggage. Even if you aren’t using the subway system, the hotel is just about a 10-15 minute walk away from most of the hotspots in the area. It has a great atmosphere to wind down for the night or to recharge before you go out for the day. It has a beautiful canal stream that runs along the side of the hotel for a beautiful and peaceful view when leaving in the morning and coming back at night. The hotel was clean and comfortable, rooms were the perfect size! They even had a free tasting of local drinks to try from 18:00-22:00! I loved this free tasting because you got to try the beverages made in the area and they even had other countries/regions included. But this is just the start of how amazing this hotel is… The staff at the Tassel Hotel made our time in Kyoto even better than we could’ve imagined. One of the employees made the biggest impression on my wife and I for our entire time in Japan. They were the kindest and most thoughtful person we had the pleasure of meeting. They took the time to talk with us about what we wanted to do in Kyoto, recommended the best store locations, hot spots in the city, took the time to plot out a map and the best way to get to places we were interested in, and let us know about what their personal favorite drinks to try while we stayed in Kyoto/Japan. We are eternally grateful for the wonderful staff at this hotel for everything they did for my wife and I on our Honeymoon. Huge shoutout to Mariko!!! My wife and I agree, next time we visit Japan, we will be booking this hotel again as it honestly was one of the top highlights of our trip. The hotel: BEAUTIFUL, the rooms: DREAMY, the location: PERFECT, the area: STUNNING, the staff: OUTSTANDING.

The hotel is at a good location, within walking distance of the major Gion area temples and historic district and a subway is located across the street, making the rest of Kyoto accessible. We also enjoyed the free cocktail hour and the vibe of the hotel was very modern and clean. The hotel is in a very peaceful area, next to a stream and other historic sights.

Breakfast was extra and more than we were willing to pay. The lobby area did not have any trash cans and we needed to hand trash to the hotel staff for disposal outside of our room.

The hotel is new and beautiful. The room is quite spacious, clean, and well designed. It also comes with nice view of the Shirakawa Canal. The bathtub was a plus, particularly after a day-long walk in cool weather. Great location where close to an underground station and within 10 mins walk to Gion. Staffs are helpful and courteous in overall. I shall come back again.

I wasn't able to connect my phone with the bluetooth soundbar at room, it would be great if there are some kind of "instruction" available. The bed if a bit too hard for me but comfy enough I would say.

Very nice room, very good bathroom and shower. Very close to a metro station. Close to some important temples and shopping streets. Pleasant hotel, would stay again.

The curtains let a lot of light in. It didn't bother me, as I would wake early in the morning anyway. They could easily fix this by adding some front barrier to the side of the curtains. Bed is a bit hard, as is the norm in Japan. The breakfast is nice, but not a lot of options to choose from.

The Hotel has nice and clean Rooms. Also the distance to the next Subway Station is really convenient.

After booking breakfast the Staff should be a little more aware of how many people will have breakfast and check by themselves if there is still enough food and drinks left for all of the guests. It’s a little bothersome if you have to ask them to refill those all the time . Especially if they walk by the buffet and don’t notice by themselves that for example a sip of Orange juice is maybe not enough for six Guests…
