I like the location, it was at the river, near a subway line and some bus stops. Kiyomizu-dera is a 15 minute walk away, so is Gion. There is a Family Mart next to the hotel entrance. We stayed 5 nights and wanted to relax a bit in Kyoto so we got the Delux Apartment with 2 beds. The room was spacious and we actually got an extra bed for our child (which was not necessary). Our room was at the top floor and we had a nice view over the Kyoto Tower and the river. The bathroom was ultramodern and large, with a bubble bath and a tv. It was nice to relax there in the evenings. The hotel offered a very basic breakfast (bread, coffee, cereal), but it was free and complimentary so no complaints. Family Mart
Our room on the top floor had full windows and a view, reaching over the neighboring building, but the floors below were facing a wall of that building. It was not clear from the room description if we would get a view or not, I wouldn't be happy if our windows faced a wall.

Everything (check in/out, luggage delivery service) was smooth. Room was clean and beds were very comfortable. Walkable to many places. The breakfast was also a nice touch! Even though the window didn’t have a view (faced the walls), the hotel does an excellent job with lighting so the room was quite cosy. It was a bit inconvenient that the luggages cannot be on the tatami mats, but completely understandable since the hotels are generally not that spacious in downtown areas.
Unfortunately, the train station right downstairs was not so convenient with big luggages to get to the Kansai airport. Good news is that the hotel can arrange reliable luggage delivery to Kyoto station which was a lifesaver for a solo traveller with big luggages!

Right next to a station, which makes it very convenient to move around. Also near to multiple combini with great selections. Bed is soft and comfortable. Adjustable brightness for lights is a very nice touch. Remote control instructions for lights, aircon and wifi are very easy to follow. A solid choice to stay in the area. Will highly consider when I return next year, considering the price.
If I were to nitpick, the "dressing table" is very low and awkward position, and a bit tricky to sit, since some space is occupied by the sofa. But once you are seated, it is comfortable. Otherwise, no complaint at all.

It's a pretty good hotel for a very reasonable price. Breakfast was great! Very powerful air conditioning. Located not so far from Gion and the historical streets at Higashiyma / Kiyomizu-dera - easy to go there in the morning before the crowds. Metro is nearby, but it is not going to Kyoto (main) station.
The room was super-small, and the window faced the wall of the next building with a 15-20 cm separation. It was a bit unexpected that the mattress was of European style but was put directly to the floor, like in the Japanese-style rooms, without any actual bed. However, it was still comfortable. Air conditioning was powerful but blew directly to us when we slept.

Friendly staff, the clean and modern, but authentic Japanese feel of the room, the amenities: umbrellas available to borrow, slippers and gorgeous house robes, razors, tooth brushes, q-tips, etc. But, the thing I enjoyed the most was the availability of complimentary soft drinks, soda water, fruit juice, tea and coffee for most of the day. The chocolate croissants at breakfast were always looked forward to and it was convenient to have the use of a microwave. Bus stop out front and a tram at the corner. Several little restaurants and convenience stores very near by.
Breakfast was a little weird and somewhat inconsistent. Icy cold meat balls, unsweetened yogurt with no fruit, things not replaced when they ran out. That sort of thing, but we always managed to get full. There were no views from our bedroom window which is always disappointing, but it did allow natural light in. A chair in the room would have been nice but there would have been no place to put it.

The location was great, located just a few meters away from Kiyomizu-gojo station exit 4 (which has an elevator) and pretty quiet area despite it being by the main road. Quite a number of popular sightseeing places (Kiyomizu-dera, Gion street, Yasaka-jinja Shrine, Nishiki Market, etc.) are either walking distance or at stations along the same train line. Also, right next to the scenic Kamo River, which is a nice place to take a walk. There are some pretty good, although small, places to eat nearby as well. Room size is a little on the small side but not unexpected for a business hotel, great value for money. The breakfast buffet is included, although not a wide variety, but it was pretty decent.
The lift stops at the concierge level (2nd floor) every time someone uses the lift (even with the room access card), so I would imagine some might be a little annoyed with it. Also beds are on tatami mats without a frame, so people who have some difficulty getting up from a low surface should take it into consideration.

Hotel is in a great location. Staff is very friendly, they offer lots of amenities and you can have a welcome drink. There is a great option to leave your luggage with them before and after you check in/out.
Rooms are very small, which means that you cannot open large luggage inside them. It's ok if you're staying for just a few nights, but reconsider it for longer periods. Our AC was occasionally dripping water and bathtub would overflow the bathroom if you let out all water at once.

The location was no more than 20-30 minutes walk to most sites we wanted to see in Kyoto. Close to subway, convenience stores and some cafes (not far away is Tu Casa Zero Waste, a charming plant-based cafe to try for those with dietary requirements). Room rate is inclusive of breakfast with some selections slightly changing each day. The use of washers and dryers are also free of charge which we appreciated a lot. Our stay in this hotel fit our needs and it was overall comfortable.
Room was tight but we didn't really mind this since we were out most of the time exploring. Only thing is that the room didn't have any blackout curtains/blinds and the aircon in our room takes some time to fully switch on.

03/05/23 Kyoto - Urbain hotel A most comfortable hotel room with clients in their mind The last three nights I have resided at Urbain hotel, Kyoto, a newly built establishment, the type of the chains like Easyhotel and Ibis but with a far superior quality and the facilities provided. It is around 15 minutes walk to the old part and Geisha district and around 20 minutes walk to Kyoto main train station. I paid £126 for the three nights with a decent breakfast included. So far the best value for money, with a room as spotless clean as it was cute and comfy. The bed was a Japanese style, with low height furniture, a comfy sofa and all other facilities The bathroom is smallish but perfect for my needs, spotless clean…As for the toilets…here in Japan they are the best in the world There they provide you with clean towels everyday if you feel like it…I didn’t as I don’t change my towels at home everyday why should I do it here. It would mean using natural resources unnecessarily and making more work for the staff here… Here they provide with with a traditional robe so that you can use it everywhere within the hotel The breakfast is just perfect for the price and it put me in a great mood for walking and kept me ok until dinner with some lovely snacks in the way of most delicious street food. The hotel keeps the dining room open all time so that you can have beverages in the way of tea, coffee and soft drinks all the time. But what makes this hotel really special is the staff which is top notch…They can’t do enough for you. Here in Japan in general customer service has reached new highs... Do they do it as they are duty bound or to show respect to the clients…I feel it is the latter. For them the client is the king, in my case the Queen Special thanks to Ogami Really in awe of the people of Japan for what they have achieved and special thanks to the staff here and their most adequate environment.
nothing whatsoever no matter how hard I have been thinking

•Room service (new towels everyday, every 3 days room cleaning) •bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and toilet paper was refilled every 3 days) •very friendly staff (+ english speaking) •good location (near the station) •breakfast (large selection of different type of food) •atmosphere (a mix between modern and traditional style) •many free extras to use (like toothpaste and toothbrush, nightwear, slippers, umbrella,…)
•No toilet brush (I’m from Europe so I don’t know if it’s normal in Japan (Korea too) to not have a toilet brush😅)
