Book this hotel. Book it now. This hotel was a delightful find at a fantastic price. We were travelling with my brother, who travels extensively in Japan for his work, and he rated it very highly as well. Located about 7 minutes easy walk from Nagoya station, the hotel is immaculately clean and nicely presented. The check in staff are very welcoming and although they spoke limited English, were quick to grab a phone with a translator to make communication easy. The room was very well laid out and spacious (we paid a few extra Aussie dollars for an extra large double and it was worth it for a bit more space in the room as well). Bed was really comfortable, linen was crisp and clean and the top sheet under the quilt was a nice surprise - most unusual in Japan. As is typical of Japanese hotels, a full selection of toiletries was provided. Less typically, the shower head was fabulous and there were nice fluffy towels instead of the usual rough over-laundered ones. On check-in we were surprised to receive a voucher for a light breakfast which you redeem from reception in the morning (there is no hotel restaurant). The food is not particularly western, but if you're happy to explore Japanese cuisine then you'll enjoy the selection. Highly recommend.

After a lot of searching and reading reviews I picked the Compass hotel for 4 nights. It's location was central for all my needs. The room was small - it is a Japanese hotel so it's about usual size for one - not a problem as I was on my own. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. Shower and bathroom were excellent. The breakfast was just pastries - which was fine for me as I overslept twice and missed them. There are convenience stores local so not a problem. The staff were great and very helpful - their English was better than my Japanese! I would happily stay again.

the queen-sized bed was the main attraction for me. perfect for 2 people. another plus is the free-flowing brewed coffee at the lobby! simple breakfast of bread, soup and rice balls was another plus! no need to run to 7-11 for breakfast. loved the pajamas that kept me warm in my sleep. the soap, shampoo and conditioner smelled so nice! if you stayed at least 5 nights, they clean the room at no extra charge. the lobby was very welcoming. the hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Nagoya station.
location was ok, near a 7-11 and family mart, and lots of restaurants too. but it could be a bit rowdy on the way back at night as we passed by what seemed to be a bar restaurant strip. if you want more action in terms of places to spend your money, I think Sakae is a better option. one of the rooms we got had a huge pillar on one side which blocked the free side of the bed. I expected a couch in both rooms that i booked but instead got the pillar in one of them. but hey, at least the bed was really big. the ref was not making the drinks cold. the temp was rather warm, better to just keep the drinks out to keep them cold.

The hotel equipped with all necessary items. The double bed is comfortable for 2 Asian women and the temperature controller in the room have English display which is very easy to use. They do not clean the room everyday but they have a very clear instruction of how to take out the trash or request new towel. The location is a bit long walk if you have luggage but still within 10 mins walk from Nagoya Station area and airport train. It is very close to the fish market, convenience store, underground mall entrance and a city bus stop right in front of the hotel. They offer a small breakfast until 9AM with no extra charge. The breakfast are pastries and instant soup or you can bring your own breakfast and you still can have coffee after 9AM. The staff are very nice and have a good communication in English.
The breakfast area is in front of the lobby on the ground floor and expose to the street so it is feel not so private when we sit there. Hotel information in the TV say the hotel have vending machine but I could not find it. The refrigerator in the room is not cool enough to store anything even though I've turned the switch on.

The front desk gave our last minute request of room with view for our son to see if morning or evening already. It is very near the station and has a nearby restaurants, coffee shop and konbini for night snacks. We enjoyed to stay in the lobby since the room is very compact.
On our second booking, the room assigned has a smelly toilet bathroom curtain. I think they forgot to change, good thing when we get back it was only 2nights, we are able to get through those 3days stay. They don’t have water station for refill only tube ice are free on the 2nd floor.

Great location. Staff were very friendly and provided help/instructions in English. Check in and out procedures were easy. Very clean and quiet. The double bed in our room was larger than we usually experience in Japan.
Included breakfast was just pastries and bread with a limited number of onigiri. My partner was fine with the pastries/bread and said they were good, but I can't eat gluten and I missed the window of opportunity for getting an onigiri every morning. Convenience store across the road made it easy to grab my own.

Around 10 minutes walk (without dragging luggage) from Nagoya Station, very convenient. Stay includes a mini breakfast (1 pastry + tea/coffee/orange juice) in the lobby where they have tables and lots of plug points. Room is compact and clean, good for 1 person. Staff are friendly and speak English. The area has convenience stores, restaurants, bars and karaoke.
Would be good if the beds had room underneath to place luggage, to save space. My tap also had issues with the cold water, where no matter how I adjusted it it would only give hot water.

Very clean and modern. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Location is really good and the hotel easy to find, though the entrance is a bit confusing as it‘s a tall wooden panel that opens automatically if you stand really close to it. There‘s multiple convenience stores around the hotel as well as buses that bring you to every corner of Nagoya.
The building next door is maybe a meter from the window which makes the room very dark. The room itself has dimmable lights but there will be zero natural light if that‘s something you require.

I really enjoyed my stay. Room is on the small side as is typical in Japan. I appreciated the little green sofa kinda made it feel more cozy and was good space to unpack a backpack or something. Lighting in the room was okay, the toiletries are on the lobby for you free to take. There were free drinks in lobby with coffee , tea or water which was greatly appreciated. Staff was always nice and helpful. They helped me send my luggage to my next hotel as well. Though my booking said no breakfast included they still offered a small snack in the mornings which I thought it was nice as I wasn’t expecting it.
Some might find it difficult to find, the front of the property is under construction so it’s kinda hidden with the name of the hotel on the front but kind of small.

I stayed a very comfortable 10 days on a business trip. There is a nice free light breakfast (2 onigiri - mentaiko cream cheese was delicious). The room design was well thought out. All the room amenities were good quality items and everything worked perfectly. For the very low price, it was value for money with thoughtful touches, like the drinks/soup dispenser in the lobby & self-service facial products.
Personally, I liked this part but some people may dislike that the hotel only does housekeeping for every 5 days you stay in the hotel. You can get fresh towels/ pajamas any time, and they'll empty your trash if you leave it outside your room in the morning.
