We stayed in one of the cottages facing the river, the view was beautiful. The room is a bit dated but comfortable and clean. Both public and private onsens were great which we enjoyed very much. There were 2 public onsens which would alter their times to be open for male and female guests use. So that all guests can enjoy both onsens. Although the staff could not communicate very well in English, they were all very polite and friendly. Particularly 2 front desk staff - 富永San and Ms Yu Huei Lin, they both tried their very best even via translator apps to communicate with us in order to helping us to solve our problems. Their help was very much appreciated. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the food is great but you must book in advance and note the price is at the high end. However, the presentation is impeccable. There is another noodle restaurant in the hotel but we didn't try it. Apparently you can walk in or order for room service as well. There was a free car park just opposite the hotel, we didn't have any problem to find parking during our 5 nights stay.

You have to climb a lot of steps to get to the cottage room, if you have a big and heavy suitcase, it will be a bit challenging. Most of the restaurants in the area were closed very early, you either pre-book your meal with the hotel or pick up something in 7-Eleven opposite the hotel or walk for around 10 mins to access a few other small restaurants which stay open a bit later.

The onsen was really great. The cottage room was a bit dated, but considering the price, it was an amazing value for money. It seems that all cottages are facing the river, the view is beautiful. The onsens change in the evening, but both have outdoor and indoor areas. 2F has a boat shaped bath and stone bath outside, 3F has only stone bath outdoor, but wooden barrel indoor. We didn’t try the food in the restaurant. Wi-Fi worked without any issues, stable enough for video calls, the router was in the room.

Having more signs in English would help foreign guests a lot. In many areas everything is in Japanese without English version, for example in onsen, where we can’t use the translate app. The way to the cottages involves stairs which might be an issue with large suitcases.

Beautiful view from the window! Onsen was fantastic! Very convenient location to get from station. Rooms were spacious and the one restaurant on the property where I was allowed to eat served good food, by the end I was familiar with the very nice couple who ran the restaurant. Good air conditioner and good place to combine a work and onsen trip. Convenience store very close by.

Few staff spoke English. While expected, some staff seemed uncomfortable even trying to communicate using a translator app. I was turned away from two of the in-house restaurants and told to make a reservation at the front desk. When I went to front desk they kept saying "no," even though hotel website claimed these restaurants were available for my type of room booking. Wondered if they simply didn't want to try speaking to someone who is not native Japanese. Oh well, still was a good stay.

The onsen was wonderful and a really beautiful setting. We'd stay here again just for the onsen. The rooms and beds were comfortable enough, but the view from the room out to the river was amazing. The grounds of the hotel were also just lovely, and the staff was kind, patient, and eager to help. Wifi was consistent. There's a konbini right across the street, so it's easy to grab a snack on the way out or a quick breakfast. Very easy to reach from the train station. Staff arranged a taxi to take us to Edo Wonderland in the morning, and it was only slightly more expensive than all 4 of us taking the bus back in the evening (i.e. just take a taxi).

The room was pretty dated, as mentioned by other reviewers. There was indeed mold in the grout in the bathroom and on the shower curtain, also as mentioned by others. We had the hotel breakfast one morning, and it wasn't amazing especially for the price - I wouldn't bother getting it again.

I liked how there are rooms, hotel rooms and the cottages in the facility. There, the beds felt comfortable, the view was nice and I was happy there was a restaurant available to get something to eat. Staff was friendly and could help with/ explain a lot. ALSO, ON THR LAST DAY IT RAINED TERRIBLY, and they offered to drive us to the station so we didn't have to walk thru the rain (because I forgot to bring an umbrella, tho they do have rental/borrow umbrellas).

1. There was a bit of maybe dirt or mold on the shower curtains. Not a bad thing but I was just a bit worried about it. 2. I think the A/C wasn't working too well in our room. Circulation was a bit troublesome when using the stronger levels. 3. Was just sad about the other restaurants in the hotel that without prior reservation, we couldn't use. But when asked about it, there wasn't a lot of information given about it. Maybe my own misunderstanding but I double checked bookings website and saw nothing on it.

Room was very spacious. It was not in the main hotel, the main hotel is very nice. They callled it a detached accomodation which is another building in the hotel grounds and not as posh but the room was big compared to most hotel ooms in Japan. Onsen was in main building but it was a decent size onsen..

Having to walk out in the cold and wet from the room to the main building but i imagine not a problem when weather is good and warm. Also the hotel name was different from our booking so we had a bit of problem finding it. Google map pointed us to Kinugawa Park Hotel but our booking was Tabist Kinugawa Park Cottage so it was confusing.

The onsen was super great, the staff was relly nice, the room was quiet and clean. The location was amazing and the view from the room very nice. There was a shop nearby and good places to eat as well. Also, the internet was excellent.

The room was a little bit cold, but after warming yourself up in onsen it is quite ok, and the blankets were also very cosy and warm. The check-in procedure took some time and there were many papers to fill in, two papers with more or less same data at that. But it wasn't too bad.

I loved everything about this hotel - we were originally going to stay for 2 nights but we eventually ended up staying for 4. it was such a lovely experience especially after staying in cramped places in Tokyo and chain hotels that are often very cramped. staff were friendly and accommodating location is beautiful loved the unbrellas and the paintings onsen was brilliant : indoor, outdoor too

there wasn't anything i didn't like

It is a nice hotel with a good service. Great for the price we paid for two, staying in a cottage type apartment with a great view on the river. Especially worth mentioning outdoor onsens, where so nice to rest after a long day of sightseeing.

Room could be a bit cleaner. Dirt stains on carpets and bed frame is not the cosiest decoration of an apartment. Also, although I understand that each hotel has it's own policies, but no tattoo onsens are a bit outdated and discriminative.

The view from our room was wonderful! The huge window in the room was perfect for gazing out at the autumn leaves while having our coffee. We didn't get to try out the services they offered in the hotel (i.e. Onsen, spa, ping pong, karaoke, etc.) because we were exploring Nikko most of the time but, from what we saw, the other guests were enjoying themselves. There's a 7/11 nearby so if ever you get hungry and forgot/didn't avail their breakfast or dinner option, you can buy food from there. It's literally right across the street. The hotel is also very close to the station, about a 5 minute walk, and close to souvenir shops so if you need to do some emergency souvenir shopping, you don't need to worry! There's also this souvenir shop called Kodaka a bit farther from the station that also has a restaurant on the second floor which is a perfect place to have breakfast at before starting your day. I highly recommend this hotel for budget travelers who also want to be comfortable while saving money. Will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Nikko. <3

The bathtub which doubled as the shower place was a bit small so it was kind of hard to move but other than that we have no complaints. :)
