Beautiful, picturesque stay in the mountains of Sapporo. The staff were professional and organized, allowing us to stay in their lobby with a scenic view of the snow, river, and mountains while we waited for check in. We were provided with local snacks and drinks and our room was ready 30 minutes early. The dinner was delicious and well-portioned, favorites being the steamed rockfish and pumpkin brûlée. Staff were attentive throughout the meal and offered to refill our rice whenever we were out. The rooms were spacious, clean, and stylish. We booked the suite with a private onsen and it was wonderful to soak and watch the snow fall outside. The staff also helped us reserve our taxi to the airport after check out and the overall process was very smooth.

We would’ve loved access to the balcony in our room but understand if it was closed for safety reasons.

We loved our stay at Chalet Ivy Jozankei. The staffs were very attentive and friendly. They all spoke English and were nice enough to put two single beds together to make a king bed. Our meals were also nicely prepared and healthy , with a wide variety of ingredients. The scenery was beautiful and it was fine for us to do nothing and just stay in the hotel, watching it snow and sipping tea. The snack bar was a treat with local snacks! We will definitely be back. It was a nice retreat after a few days at the slopes and a very unforgettable experience.

Possibly one of our best hotel stays ever. The hotel has a quiet beauty right out of a postcard, the staff are amazing and the food sublime. They did everything to make our stay perfect. The food is one of the best I ever had at a hotel, but western travellers should make sure to set expectations regarding the food which is very japanese, it was always interesting and perfectly executed but pushed us to our limits in some cases :)

Absolutely AMAZING experience!!! The Japanese-style room with tatami is spacious and super clean!!! My kids love the hot spring in the room!! Not to mention the view is awesome! LOVE the breakfast and dinner provided by the hotel which are included in the room fee. So far that is most delicious Japanese food I have ever had. All hotel staff we met were super friendly!! We felt touched that they remember all our preferences! Feels like we are at home!!

Everything is PERFECT!!!

The staff was very nice, very hospitable and it was great that they all spoke English as well as Japanese. All of the complimentary snacks and drinks and the complimentary wine card and items in the room refrigerator were wonderful and very much appreciated. Also the complimentary hygiene products were high quality as well as the spa products. The food was delicious and there was such an amazingly variety.

The room thermostat didn’t go low enough to get the room cool enough to have a comfortable sleep. If you know kids melas are not requested, I wanted to know me otherwise I didn’t know.

Everything was perfect. The room was huge & the in-room onsen was a treat. The staff were polite & helpful, and the food was excellent.

There wasn't much to see & do in the summer in Jozankei and the little town was quite run down. We needed to drive quite far away to other more interesting spots.

Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely fantastic. The master chef, Mr, Ito was exceptional. I have traveled several countries with well-known gastronomy including France one month ago and Italy 2 weeks ago. Food at Chalet Ivy was by far the best. It should be on the Michelin star restaurant list.

It was a little pricy.

Everything was beautifully decorated, very simple and oozed comfort. We had a room on the ground floor with an outside space which extended the room. The staff were friendly, thoughtful and went out of their way to find things out for any questions I had, so fast too! The food was good but want to highlight the breakfasts which were excellent.

Nothing, though it would have been nice if the private onsen were outdoors.

The staff at the Osen hotel are friendly and helpful. It is very comfortable for a stay and has a view of the river as well.

During breakfast and dinner, I enjoy the meal a lot. A nice river view accompanied delicious food

I don't often take the time to write a review, but felt I had to after my stay at Chalet Ivy. My entire stay was exceptional. From the check-in to check out there is nothing I would change. The staff are exceptional, the food wonderful, the facilities incredible and the view is sublime. Perfect.
