As expected in Japan, the hotel was clean and very proper. The staff was friendly and helpful. We found it very interesting that they had pillows with different fillings to choose from, although it seemed that most were already taken. Location is sufficiently convenient - we were able to get to the main shopping areas easily. Self-service laundry facilities are good, and there is a nice guest lounge in the basement.

Being our first time in Sapporo, I would have benefitted from clearer directions on how to get to the hotel from the JR Sapporo train station. The massive subway system is rather confusing to navigate, and not all exits have lifts or escalators. If you're reading this, DO NOT exit from the nearest subway entrance to the hotel (exits 21 or 22) if you are carrying luggage. Instead, take Exit 24 as there is a lift there. There is also no convenient drop-off point at the hotel (you have to drop-off in the back alley, which is completely iced over during winter).

The size of the rooms at JR Inn were amazing for Japan. Super comfortable, with a decent-sized bed. We also loved the location, it was close to the train station but was relatively quiet unlike Susukino. I also liked that the sink was separate to the toilet and bathroom. There were more than enough amenities and I enjoyed the baths in this area.

It kind of sucked that you're not allowed to eat in the lounge. We ate in our hotel room, but there was only one seat so the other person had to sit on the bed to eat. Additionally, we felt that a lot of the areas in the hotel was too stuffy. My partner found the men's baths to be too warm and stuffy. Also, our rooms just felt way too warm, even with the air conditioning on. We were in Sapporo in winter. lol

I took my mom to Sapporo as a birthday present. The check in was very smooth. Dominic assisted us and he’s very professional, knowledgeable about hotel policy and friendly. I live in Japan and even if I have a Japan address, most hotels would photocopy my resident card without asking. I would always end up explaining to the front desk why I don’t want my card photocopied and they would look confused until I present an official online article, and that would be tens of minutes wasted. I am so grateful that it was a quick and smooth check in because we were so tired and ready to crash in bed. Thank you so much! Also, the breakfast was wonderful. It’s a perfect meal to start our day. The staff at Yayoi were all wonderful as well. Gochisousamadeshita!

Nothing really. Just a minor space thing in the lobby when there are a lot of suitcases left by the guests. It’s not really a big deal.

The most outstanding feature for this hotel is the hot bath spa at the basement, very elegantly designed and very comfortable, most 4-star or 5-star hotels do not have this in downtown Sapporo. There is a big and comfortable lounge to relax after the hot bath spa with free coffee and magazines. The room I booked was super big with very big bathroom. The 2 beds and the sofa bed were also very comfortable. The coin laundry worked well with 3 washers and 3 dryers. Yayoi restaurant on the ground level serves tasty meals. The convenience store opposite is great to grab some snacks and drinks. The location is superb and just 5-10 minute walk to Sapporo Station, Odori Station, Sapporo TV tower and Odori park, also a short walk to the Nijo fish market. For those taking airport limousine bus, the Chuo bus from New Chitose Airport stops at ANA hotel which is just round the corner (1 minute walk away). The staff are also very friendly and helpful and the check-in and check-out processes were very smooth and pleasant.

My family loved this hotel and will be our top choice when we visit Sapporo again.

We location was perfect for Yuko Matsuri, the Odori Park entrance is only a short walk away. We were able to commute around the city on foot, it was very conveniently located in a quieter section of town. I loved the lounge area in the basement section, it was a very pleasant place to flick through the manga library while waiting for laundry to finish. I was very pleasantly surprised by the breakfast - it was very good value, beautifully presented and gave us the chance to try a few different types of local food, with one of the best drip coffees I’ve had in Japan so far. To top it off, our order was delivered to the table by a robot. There were thoughtful extras in the room; a spare plug with USB charger, extra information about the hotel in english (including etiquette for using the public bath onsite). Oh! And there was a pillow bar for selecting your favourite pillow! The staff were also lovely, we really enjoyed our stay here.

The property was great. My only tip if arriving in winter and planning to walk from the station to the hotel is that not all of the paths were shovelled so it can be a bit of a slippery/slushy experience with big bags. The path outside of the hotel was clear.

First off, don't let the name fool you... even though it says south of the Sapporo Train Station, it's quite a walk away from the station. And there are 2 such JR Inns oopposite one another. This is the south branch, don't get mixed up. Having said that, the hotel was lovely and we had a twin room. We were able to push the two beds together to form a large lovely bed which was so comfortable. The room layout is European style, where the wash basin was in the room itself beside the working desk, while the bath and washroom facilities were located together (2 compartments but 1 entrance). It just felt a bit odd to wash up beside the telephone and on what was the same surface as the writing desk. Everything was good, it was a good stay and the beds were super comfortable.

Overall, great hotel! Location is perfect, 5 minutes walking from the station and from Odori park. The room was very cosy, not as small as it can be, modern furnishing, nice bathroom and toilet. The staff are amazing, they even prepared a small origami present to greet us, which was the sweetest thing to see after a long flight from Europe. The onsen was great, and instructions in English were very handy cuz it was our first time ever to enjoy an onsen. Thank you very much, it was a very pleasant stay in Sapporo :)

Room is spotlessly clean and we had fun picking out our own pillows from the reception. Breakfast is provided by Yayoi which is a restaurant after breakfast hours. Yummy and adequate with 4 main meal selections. Love the public bath in the basement which is very clean and nice. Location is relatively good near Exit 22 of Sapporo Station There are food options nearby and relatively near to the bus stops to attractions such as Mt Moiwa Ropeway and Sapporo Beer Museum

Room could have been a little bit bigger.

Room : Twin Room - Non-Smoking. It is as presented on the website/booking.com. There is a shower /toilet room and the sink is outside the toilet. The hotel , room and common area is clean. Like any of the JR Inn hotel you can get additional toilette at ground floor. However we have a bit of a issue with our 2 luggage opening ( just need to shift the coffee table. Location is 3 min to Sapporo Subway and 8 min to JR Sapporo station. The public bath for ladies was nice and clean there are toilette provide at the bath. We also include breakfast at the next door Yayoi restaurant. Set course breakfast was worth it.

Does not allow use of HDMI cable to connect my laptop to room TV. A rather unusual rule since all other hotels that we stayed in in Sapporo, Jozankei, Asahikawa and Abashiri all allowed us to make use of the HDMI cable to connect my laptop to the room TV.
