- amazing staff : English speakers, super welcoming, friendly and provide many good advises to enjoy the region - gigantic living space with electric plugs everywhere - roof top terrasse - amazing worldwide veteran traveler vibe - fridge space to store a bit of food - a chef cook makes amazing dinners and very healthy breakfast. Quantity and quality is there. Furthermore, the chef likes to play music by singing and playing guitare to animate evenings - suitcase elevator - in front of the Ritsurin garden - close by the sky loop line station - at the foot step of a big hills covered by forests - very fresh air around : all rooms have their own window an are also equipped with performant AC - Yamaha keyboard available in the living room for music lovers - sliding doors, wooden floors, tatamis : they have different styles of rooms
- 2 shower room cabin floor in the shower room for men needs a little fix to drain the water faster - I want an IPA craft beer fridge in the main hall 😂

We had a private Japanese room which was more spacious than standard bedrooms in hostels or business hotels. The room and hostel was clean. And the stuff was friendly. A big plus is the possibility to have dinner at the hostel. It's freshly cooked by the manager (who actually is a professional cook). He entertains the guests in the evening with live music and chatting. It's a good way to get to know other guests. The hostel also arranges activities like udon workshops. The hostel is very close to Ritsurin garden. A bit more far away from the main train station, which can, however, easily be reached by train or bus (walking is about 30min).
Everything was fine.

The accommodation is quite basic, but considering the pricepoint It's hard to beat. Everything you need is here. Included in the price comes a breakfast prepared by a chef. Free tea (or coffee) throughout your stay. The staff is really kind and helpful, the vibe overall is very relaxed. The matress was/is very comfortable, I've been to more luxurious capsule hotels with much higher standard, but when it comes to sleeping, almost impossible because of the thin matressess. This is not the case here, and that's what matters (that you can sleep), right !? For just 2000 yen you can have a dinner, also prepared by the chef. Just a stone throw to Ritsurin garden.
Nothing.

Loving the whole atmosphere created by the staff and everyone! The staff kindly make the bed even for a dormitory bed. The bathroom is cleaner and they use high quality shampoo than any other business hotels that I've stayed. I ordered dinner for the 2nd night and it was the best choice I've ever made. I was amazed at Chef's cooking (and singing talent). It's been a while since I stayed in a guest house again, so I was a little bit worried but I'm glad that I met other fellow travellers and spent the nights here!
If you're a light sleeper, you might have trouble sleeping cause it's near the railroad. Other than that, everything was perfect.

I bloody loved this place! The 2000 yen dinners were fantastic and Ryu the Chef could cook anything gluten free, so for me it was a dream to be able to eat all Japanese styles and not be restricted to just sashimi or sushi, plus..... he played a mean guitar and ukulele and knew a whole bunch of songs. We had some great jam sessions and interactions with the other guests. I recommend taking the cooking lessons if you get a chance- I learned how to make Dashi and prepare Shabu Shabu. The breakfast was a full meal prepared by Ryu- not just the usual cheese, boiled egg and toast. As hostels go - this one is a cracker!

A new hostel, that is very cozy and social, with tons of common spaces to eat, work, talk, hang out. The on-site chef prepares breakfast every morning and you can pay extra for a very nice dinner. The staff are really cool, and I enjoyed hanging out every night practicing my terrible Japanese. The big dorm is very spacious.
I wish they had some bigger slippers available. The bathroom layout takes some time to get used to, but while I was there, I saw constant improvements of adding signage, etc. The location is not very central or super close to public transportation, but it is right next to the beautiful Ritsurin Garden.

Since this is a new hostel, facilities are in good condition and clean. Every staff are very warm, kind and welcoming. Special shout out to Ryo, he sings, cook, taking care everything of guests. Also extremely attentive, even i not yet asked, he already answered 😂 what a superman Breakfast always nice, from udon to japanese to western breakfast. You can also register for dinner for ¥2000 which far more than my expectations, which made by superman Ryo, really tasty and fulfilling 😋 I booked two nights because I just stay in Takamatsu randomly and no plan at all, eventually i enjoyed 5 nights. Thank you JAQ Takamatsu ❤️❤️❤️
Perfect it right next to Ritsurin Park. If you are plan to go to island, you may need to check the transportation because its 1-2 for each JR, Kododen and bus. not hostel problem but have to beware. If walk to pier, around 30-45mins, for me perfect because i love walking 🚶♀️

We found the hostel very easily on foot after getting off the highway bus from Kobe at Ritsurin Koen. To travel locally while staying there, we used two local train lines, both stations being a short walk from the hostel. The hostel is basic but clean and comfortable. Our twin room was huge with separate toilet and wet room. We had Ryo’s (host) 2000 yen dinner on our first night. Delicious and filling and a sociable way to spend the evening with other guests. Had a guitar, piano, singing jam after dinner and Ryo also played the shamisen for us. 🙂 Oh, the hostel is literally at the North gate of the very beautiful Ritsurin Koen which is the reason I chose this location. It is also 6 minutes by train to the JR Takamatsu station, an easy station to navigate. The hostel has stairs up to the rooms however there is a little luggage lift to save carting heavy bags up.

Amazing for the price! The location was not far from the shopping street, with around a 10 min walk. As a female solo traveller, I was worried about the hostel being located on a quiet street, but I ended up feeling safe in the area. The facilities are very clean and comfortable, and the staff (both the host and chef) are attentive and friendly. The chef played the guitar and sang for the guests other night which was lovely! :)) For those who are very noise sensitive, there is a short rumbling sound when the train goes past, but it was only 1-3 secs so it was no problem.

The bed space you're given is very large so I was able to fit a fair bit of my stuff inside only leaving my large suitcase just outside my bed. The staff are all incredibly kind and welcoming. The free breakfast delicious and there are free laptops available for use (slow, but gets the job done when you need to upload something in a pinch).
Small complaints, but the showers and bathrooms were not the best, and the code locked door is a bit finnicky.
