We did not have breakfast in the hotel, but the location is a block from the hotel. We can see the hotel sign as we walked out of the train station. The Nohi bus is on the left side and we booked our day bus tour to Ainokur and Shirakawa for the following morning. The 2 must see World Cultural Heritage sites. And the next morning, we also buy the bus ticket to the Hida folk village. The old town is an easy 15 - 20 minutes walk. There is a very good Mom and Pop Chinese restaurant around the block on the left side. Chahan Hana. We ate there twice since most restaurants were fully booked daily. Maruaki Restaurant is the place to eat Hida Beef.

We wish the hotel could start their free coffee from the morning instead of by 1 PM.

Great location within walking distance from the old centre. The hotel is good value for money. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean!

Breakfast options were limited.

So close to the train and bus station (tidy little street) and a short easy walk past cafes etc to the old part of town. A 7/11 (or was it a Family Mart?) around the corner. Room was spacious and had a decent view out over the town to hills. Good standard bathroom. Spotted a microwave in the lobby area for heating things up and a little coffee machine in the breakfast room that can be used late in the day. Friendly welcome from staff. Luggage could be left at reception on day of check in and check out — which gave us more exploring time. I’d stay here again.

We don’t usually buy hotel breakfasts but did one morning — it was ok. If not in a hurry for early morning food I probably wouldn’t do so again given the price and fact that there are some nice little cafes dotted about towards the river.

The breakfast was excellent. My children especially loved the pancakes, while I particularly enjoyed the yogurt and coffee.

The water pressure in my room was too weak. However, when I checked my children's room, the water pressure was fine. I suppose it depends on luck. In my personal opinion, and for the benefit of other travelers in the future, I didn’t really like the parking system. It uses an automated garage that requires staff assistance every time you need access or park your car. This means that if you go in and out of the hotel multiple times a day, it can be quite inconvenient. Perhaps this is why the parking fee is slightly cheaper than at other hotels in the same area.

Location was great. Rooms spacious and very clean. Great steam room and spa. Reasonable breakfast and good free coffee in afternoon and evenings.

The hotel offers excellent value. It was one of the least expensive hotels we stayed at in Japan and yet provided perfectly adequate accommodation in terms of room size, cleanliness, comfortable beds, wifi. Breakfast was very good with both western and Japanese dishes.

The location was very convenient to transportation, right near the main bus and train stations, but a bit far from the center town. We didn't mind the walk, though.

Great location, a few minutes walk from the train station which was perfect for our 1 night stay. The breakfast was great and definitely worth it. Having stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, etc, the room size was comparably bigger, which was a nice change of pace. Overall great value for the cost that we paid. Right in the middle of town which made it the perfect stay to explore the surrounding area.

Don't think there really was much we could critique about this property. It served our needs and was a great value. We didn't try the onsen so can't comment on that though I'm sure it would have been great.

Very good location 2 streets away from Takayama station, no problem walking with large luggage. International buffet breakfast with good spread as in photos, free flow coffee machine throughout the day. Prices considered cheaper compared to other cities, room size is adequate, with space to open 1 luggage, we booked 2 double rooms.

No water or electric kettle/water boiler in room, have to get hot water from coffee machine downstairs. Both bathrooms have mushy smell and greenish stain on the bathtub. We didn't use the bathtub since it's just a 2 night stay. Old school hotel, bathroom slightly small.

Great location within 5 minutes walking distance from the train and bus station, also walking distance from main shopping street and old center. Large room (especially compared to Tokyo), clean and well equipped. Sauna and bubble bath for guests were nice. Breakfast was decent, mix of continental and Asian food.

Breakfast closing at 9.30 meant the staff expected us to leave the dining area as well. We felt rushed, would have been nice to finish our food and drinks since the dining area itself stays open all day.

The staff and breakfast are by far the best aspects of this hotel. We stayed during the Takayama Spring Festival. Despite being very busy at this time, the staff were kind, quick, and helpful. Fluent English was spoken by most staff. The breakfast is excellent. There are yoghurt bowl, soup, rice, salad, pastry, and drink options. The location is pretty good. Takayama is small so for us there was no need to pay a premium to stay only a 5 min walk closer to the rivers. We did not try the onsen but it looked very clean and with a good changing area.

The rooms are a bit outdated. The carpet was discoloured in a spot near the bathroom entrance.
