Loved it. We had stayed in Takayama before, at a different hotel, and when we walked past the Apina, I made a note to stay there next time! It is quite central, so it is possible to shop at the daily market or in the beautiful old town area and keep nipping back with your treasures! The staff were absolutely fantastic. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the receptionist when we arrived, but she was absolutely great and (bonus) spoke excellent English, so I didn't need to use my rusty Japanese too much. Due to a signal failure, we had to take a completely different route to get to Takayama and consequently were quite late, but everything was fine. The onsen was still open, so we could go up to the top floor and relax. The view from the bath really is as spectacular as it looks, but of course you can't view the town until you stand up - otherwise, everyone in Takayama would have a view of you as well. So the lower part of the window is frosted. Huge and comfortable indoor bath, plus a superb outdoor one. Next time, I will try to get up early and have a morning bath as well, but the bed was too comfy for that. There was an option to select a different pillow in reception, which I didn't spot until we were leaving, despite it being very obvious. Another time, I will probably try a different one. Breakfast was really excellent and delicious. We stayed for 2 nights but next time we will stay much longer. We have still only seen a fraction of Takayama.

Location and parking is good.

Room is too small and the high floor room is not much difference in terms of view or facilities. But have to pay more.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good location walkable distance from the train station. Near to the city's local tourist attractions. Reasonable sized room. The hot bath facilities were great. Recommend a visit.

Breakfast was very simple and from a Western point of view was more akin to a continental food selection. The small range of hot food available was more of a Asian selection and limited in choice. In the room there was no safe deposit box and bottled water was not supplied to guests. Hotel breakfast times were early 7am to 9 am and early check out of 10 am.

Excellent location, 3 mins walk to JR station and bus terminal. Easy walk to 2 morning markets and the old town. Found great eatery just next to hotel. Receptionist Rina Mizuno is extremely helpful - pointed out the nearby laundromat and ramen shop, even send the different sized pajamas to room and help enter restaurant reservation in Japanese. The spa has great view. There are 5 different types to pillow with detailed descriptions, allowing us to make ourselves comfortable.

location was so convenient. It was not that far from Takayama station and it‘s near the Red Bridge which is one of the tourist spot in Takayama. Bed was super comfy. We didn‘t dip ourselves in the public bath but just take a look at it somehow. The public bath looks nice though. Hotel can also keep our luggage before check in and after check out which is super convenient for us to travel around baggage-free. The check in and check put process went by quite fast even though there were many guests waiting when we went for check out.

room size was small but it‘s also up to Japanese standard. There were only 1-2 power socket in the room which we find it a bit unconvenient because we have many electronic gadgets that are needed to be charged overnight.

Takayama is beautiful place in Gifu Prefecture, and we went because was recommended to us. Great regional experience in cherry blossom time. Place is full of history and wort visiting. The old Takayama is on the hill. Old houses in Sanmachi Suji today are little shops or restaurants. Everything is very close. Hotel was nice, clean and with great staff. Breakfast was excellent with so many choices. Room was enough for two people with comfy bed. Stayed one night, and day and the half, were enough to visit everything in Takayama.

A nice hotel in a nice town. Close to station, main attractions and food options. Hotel itself has typical smallish rooms but that is just what it is in Japan. Only a short walk from train station. Used the public bath which is located on the roof and one of the baths is actually outdoors. It was nice looking up at the stars while having a bath. Restaurants close by seem to be heavily booked during peak times so book ahead. Staff were very helpful and friendly and stored our bags pre check in.

The staff were extremely professional and welcoming. There was lots of information about what we could do in the local area. The location was ideal. The window in the room was fairly large, which was nice.

The room was quite small. The bathroom was so small that I had to keep the door open to ease the feeling of claustrophobia. Given that it was a spa hotel it would have been nice to have the option to book a private bath (kazoku buro) but they only had the two public baths, neither of which were particularly pretty.

Great location, short easy walk from train station and the beautiful Takayama Old Town with its many shops and beautiful buildings. Many good restaurants in the area. Hotel room was clean, comfortable bed, and amenities conveniently available. The staff were lovely, warm and welcoming. Check-in / check-out was quick and efficient. We wish we stayed longer. The hotel was excellent value and highly recommended.

Location was excellent.The free shuttle bus to and from the hotel was great after travelling 11 hours.Directions were easy to find.Comfortable bed and lovely dooner pillows which all make for a great stay.
