I had the most beautiful views of the islands from my balcony room. Such a treat to wake up to! I don’t usually eat at hotels but there wasn’t much else in the area and their very healthy and filling breakfast I was included in the price. Lots of delicious and affordable dinner options too! Staff were helpful and friendly.
My room was very small but it didn’t bother me too much as I didn’t have any large luggage on me at that time. There was no bath which surprised me as every other hotel I have stayed at in Japan has had one. Even cheaper hotels.

The breakfast (included in price) was light, healthy and tasty. The restaurant overlooked the cycle race track: this professional sport is called 'keirin' in Japanese. There's a small, enlightening and fun museum off the corridor that connects the main hotel building with the restaurant and main stand of the stadium. Soon after I'd arrived, I could watch and hear the racing my room's balcony. This was a treat, as I didn't know much about keirin as a sport before and I even didn't know I would be staying at the hotel during days of racing. From the balcony there was also a fine view out to sea, So, I enjoyed being able to sleep with an open balcony door - a seldom experience at hotels in Japanese cities - waking up to the early morning light and the 'chug chug' of the first fishing boats going out. On the journey from Kobe to the Keirin Hotel 10 hotel I took the train from Okayama city to Uno (the local port). Someone at the tourist information at Uno train station - a volunteer from France or Belgium, I think - told me about the short cut to walk to the hotel: 20 minutes across a small (red) bridge over a canal-like river to a main road, turn right and follow the well-signposted road towards the hotel. (Next time, I would travel to Uno and so to the hotel using the Express bus that arrives and and leaves from a stop between the Uno's small railway station and the ferry ports). The ferries across to islands in the 'Inland Sea' (Seto Naikai) were what brought me to the region this time. The islands of Naoshima and Teshima are among my favourite places on earth. For my first ferry trip I took the small ferry to Honmura Port - less frequent than the ferries to the main port on Naoshima: Miyanoura. I visited the Ando House in Honmura and then walked across the island to Miyanoura. After two nights at Keirin Hotel 10 I travelled back to Kobe via ferry to Miyanoura Port, ferry to Takamatsu on Shikoku Island.
This is not a negative coment, as the restuarant at the hotel / cycle track is relaxing and relatively inexpensive. If you want to do your own shopping for your stay, you should buy stuff before or during your walk to the hotel. There's a 24 hour convenience store near Uno port and a large supermarket on the main road leading up and away from the railway station.

The breakfast is now joint top best ever I’ve had. The French toast just wonderful and the crab and scallop omelette oh my god.. and then the karaage was amazing too. A great coffee as well. Food heaven. And what a view from the restaurant too. It also has A great public bath. Lovely staff. Big thumbs up all round
I don’t want to get all princess and the pea but the bed was slightly too hard for my delicate nature. The other thing that was a bit gutting was that we were unaware that there were races on the track the time we stayed and we got there after they had finished for the night. All in all nothing really to get het up about really given everything else that we got from the stay

Great set up for the art islands, of there is a Keirin race meeting on the view from the room would be unbeatable, as it is the sea view rooms look out on to the bay which is pretty cool. 20 minutes walk to ferries and food options. Nice staff and a public baths…but the baths are not open 365 they have periods of closure too. On cycle race meet days there is an option to pay extra and spend time with the racers rest area between races…for a keirin fan or any cycling racing fan this is a proper privilege.
The only thing, as other people have commented was the pillows are a weird foam pillow, normally I couldn’t care less but they were weird enough to notice…but not weird enough to disrupt the sleep…

The design, with a bike racing theme, was striking and discovering that the balcony of our room overlooked not only the Inland Seto Sea but also a velodrome was wonderful! The breakfast buffet, the sento bath and the free laundry machines all added to our enjoyment. The meals were good quality and reasonably priced. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. Loved the in-room Bluetooth speaker. The shuttle bus to the Uno train station was helpful and we were refunded the taxi fare by the hotel. About a 20-25 minute walk into Uno and the ferry terminal to Naoshima.
Our twin bedded room was a bit small. It was difficult to arrange our luggage or unpack.

This is such a quirky hotel, it's very hard not to like it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We liked the touches, like the lounge wear, the hanging bags for use, the alarm clock, the washing line, and even the kettle was a great. We weren't expecting a balcony, so were surprised when we had one. It was great sitting watching the cyclists training early in the morning. We ate breakfast which was plentiful and tasty. We also used the Public Bath which was good for relaxing in the evening and not busy. We also used the laundry which was another bonus. We hired bikes from the hotel, and took them on the ferry across to Naoshima. THis was very easy to do and we were able to cycle around the island.
We had a standard double room. It is a very compact room. if one of you doesn't like sleeping next to a wall you would need to book a bigger room. It would have been nice to have a bar available for guests and a lounge area (other than reception) to relax in. Water and coffee/milk/sugar replenishment after the first night would have been much appreciated.

Modern boutique hotel adjoined to a velodrome with a cycle-themed decoration. Extremely well-kept and clean. Despite having a small single room, all the necessary amenities are provided without feeling cramped. The rooms overlooking the cycling tracks and the see beyond make the experience like no other, there is also a small photo exhibition with archive pictures of the construction of the velodrome and the keirin races from 70-80's. I also loved the sport outfit provided to hang out in the hotel. There is a public bath and sauna, relaxing after a long day exploring the islands. Good services provided in the building, such as a laundry room.
It's a 20 minutes walk from the Uno station and the port to the islands, and it's not pleasant especially when you carry your luggage. There is a shuttle service, but only available from 10:00 to 14:00 - which is quite useless. On the morning of my departure, I had to be at the port early and I could't get a taxi, even if the staff called several companies. If you don't take the hotel dinner, the only place to get food from is the closest konbini which is near the Uno station.

The cycling themed design and attention to detail is amazing. Despite having a small single room, every possible amenity was provided for without feeling cramped. The hotel is extremely well kept and clean. Good selection for breakfast and supper though their menus don’t cater for vegetarians particularly well unless you want eggs, chips, salad and rice all the time. Staff are friendly and helpful, and very patient when guests don’t speak Japanese.
It’s a longish walk to the port and station, particularly with heavy bags when you’re tired and it isn’t always easy to find a taxi back to the hotel, though the hotel were helpful in trying to find one for us. Many international travelers in Japan use data packages that don’t offer an option to make telephone calls making calling for a taxi complicated. Uber doesn’t work around this area and signing up for the local equivalent is impossible without a Japanese telephone number. In the end we managed to call the hotel via Skype and they sent a taxi for us and another one for other guests who were also stranded at the station. So all ended well in the end!

Fantastic view of both the velodrome and the sea from the floor to ceiling wall of glass — we had fun watching the ships and cyclists come and go. There’s an onsen and free laundry but you can only use them on non-race days so we could only use them on one of our two days. Restaurant has tasty food but nothing outstanding and breakfast is expensive although the French toast is very good!
The 20-minute walk from the station is bland and unappealing. There is a shuttle but it only operates to a impractical timetable 10am to 1pm. Beds and pillows are hard.

If you are into cycling (racing) or you are visiting Naoshima Art island you should consider this place. Crazy, quirky accomodation in a post industrial style this Hotel is situated on the water with a famous Japanese Keiren velodrome and glass enclosed grandstand and the Forque restaurant - all part of the complex. Televisions have rolling (silent) images of famous races at the circuit and the whole decor is built around cycle racing as a sport. It has now whet my appetite to see the Paris Olympics cycle racing. Close to Uno station and the ferry services to Naoshima and other destinations, staff had better English language skills than many larger places and were attentive and kind. The restaurant had only a limited menu but the (fresh) Fish and Chips and breakfast buffet, were both good value. The focus here is on providing good clean fresh healthy food - something we have not seen a lot of so far. Lovely onsen and free washing machines and dryers. We really liked our two nights here and wished we had extra time to visit Shodo Island.
Nothing bad to report - we had better service here, than our later stay at the expensive and over rated Grand Prince Hiroshima, which gets a big thumbs down from me. (See separate revue,)
