We stayed here to go to lotte arai to snowboard/ski. We appreciated the proximity to train station, its literally across the street. We were also happy that they accepted yamato delivery of our skis. Theres a few izakayas around but food is not nearly as abundant and good as tokyo. The front desk were friendly and willing to help, but not great english, they do use a hand held translator to help. They do breakfast in the morning (warning, its a japanese breakfast - seaweed, soups, salmon, savories) but they do have a coffee machine downstairs which we were thankful for. There is a free shuttle to lotte arai (that you need to book in advance ****). Overall great value for our stay, would stay here again if on budget.

We like this chain of hotels. Always a good location reliable quality, service and value. They are very professional and helpful. Also very foreigner friendly, many services in Japan are difficult to deal with as a foreigner, but not this company.

We booked a non smoking room, but our room had a distinct smoke smell coming from the air conditioner, it didn’t affect our visit though as we didn’t need air conditioning. We brought this to managements attention and they were very apologetic and promised to take care of it.

Breakfast was not too diverse, simple, but sufficient and delicious. Definitely great consider it is free. Rooms are clean, comfy and fairly spacious (for Japan). Location itself is great - next to the train stations, has a few bars/restaurants and a convenience stores within just a couple of minutes walk distance. Parking lot right next to the hotel is very small, but there are additional options (a second Hotel owned parking lot which is ~150m further away) or the regular paid parking lots. Pleasant stay overall, and definitely worth the price.

No issues in particular stood out.

It was a great way to break up my trip from Tokyo to Osaka, going the northern route through Hokuriku. The hotel itself and the rooms were clean and good quality. And the price was fantastic. The breakfast was also delicious. I'll definitely stay there again. And next time I'll visit the spa next door.

Everything was great. I have nothing negative to say about the hotel. There isn't a lot to do around the station itself. But if you are just making a stop for the night on the way to somewhere else it's perfectly fine.

Breakfast was delicious even though there are not many choices, near the train station, which has convenient stores and shops selling souvenirs. There are little food halls and restaurants selling ramen, sushi and izakaya behind the hotel.

If you booked the room with an adult and child, towels are not provided for the child. You will need to pay for extra towels, but its not too much money, about 100yen, so it was ok for us

We stayed here for one night visiting cherry blossom festival near Takada Castle. The hotel is 2 min by foot from the railway station, which is convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful, rooms clean and breakfast tasty. We got a room with a beautiful view to the mountains. There is a public onsen just at the corner, so you can relax there in the evening after a long walk as we did.

Super location for activities in the area like transit to skiing, cycling and sightseeing. Right next door to the Shinkansen Joetsumyoko station made for easy access to Lotte Arai ski resort and Kubiki rail trail. The castle park in Joetsu is worth a visit with a large school of Koi in the moat following you hoping for a feed as you cross the bridge.

Room size on the small size but given the great value price, location and short stay, it was perfect.

Toyoko hotel is very economical. Hotel is next to the Shinkansen station, and the area is quiet. Nice buffet style breakfast. Supermarkets are only 5 minutes away by car. The bathroom has a rain shower, or you can use the regular shower. The King bed was huge.

Parking. The parking lot was a little far to carry heavy bags; about 200m away which is exhausting after a long day on the slopes. However there is a place to offload your luggage in front of the hotel.

The location of the hotel can’t be beat! Great location next to the train station, easy shuttle to Arai to snowboard, and good restaurant options close by. The staff were very kind and breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend!

We are riding a tandem bicycle. They told us to park in the unsupervised public train bicycle parking. We found a manager that allowed us to leave bike in entrance.
