The room was very comfortable, we got a crib for a baby, the A/C was working well. The room was very clean and quiet (only if you close the window). Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was decent, we loved the coffee there.

As others mentioned, there is no elevator. We had a baby trolly so had to bring it up one flight of stairs. Fortunately, we could leave it in a lobby of the hotel, so we didn't have to bring it up an another flight of stairs (to the room). The parking is in another block but hotel gives a good price for parking there. Also possible to make quick stop on the street (opposite side) to unload the luggage.

Breakfast was exceptional - traditional Latvian breakfast. Very hearty! Coffee was of good quality. Machine coffee is available 24/7. Staff was very helpful and kind. Our room had a nice mural on the wall which was culturally fitting for Riga. Beds were comfortable.

Some of the letters on the sign outside the hotel were not illuminated. Room air conditioner had one speed, but worked fine. Room walls had some damage which needed fixing; at one time, this was a new hotel. Stairs are the only option to upper floors, but this was well advertised, so no surprises there. Some guests were having trouble with so many stairs.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, friendly receptionist and breakfast had quite a lot of choice (not so much if you like a sweet breakfast). You can walk into the old town in 20 minutes and the downtown area is just on the doorstep with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The nearby carpark, for just 7€ per day thanks to the hotel, is very handy. Good value for money.

Be warned there is no lift/ elevator in this hotel! No tea or coffee was provided in the bedroom. The rooms are not very sound proof. The staircase and entrance are not very welcoming and could do with decorating/ renovation.

Certainly, there were many positive things about this place. Our room was cozy and clean. There were a lot of dishes to choose from during breakfast. Being able to leave our luggage in a lockroom after we had already checked out was an additional pro. However we had to experience one downside of the hotel - lady in a reception. During our check-in we had to wait some time until the lady stopped texting. She was talking incoherently which caused some misunderstandings. As the process of checking in went on, the lady seemed irritated and didn't even provide us with basic information such as breakfast time, location of the room and so on. Still, I would totally recommend this place.

Pretty good value for money considering we also had a breakfast. Food itself wasn't really amazing, rather simple buffet but for the price it was decent enough. Inside the hotel looks rather cheap but it's fair since price matches to the general level. Apart from the looks all facilities were present. Fridge, closet, table, ac, tv. Wifi connection was good too. There is a bonus with billiard and snooker right behind the reception available. Unfortunately no discount for hotel guests.

Just the design could be improved and some renovation done

it was definitely good value for money. There are plenty of connections to the city centre around. Grocery store is 5 minute walk away and it´s opened until 23:00. In our room, everything was cleaned every day. Breakfast was just amazing! Food was absolutely delicious with plenty of choices (including some strange ones aka pickled mushrooms, pickled fish or sour cream). Two kinds of coffee, good juice, biscuits, vegetables, oatmeal...everything one could possibly ask for.

Honestly, it´s been a bit worn out (furniture, bed etc.) and there was not enough sockets by the bed. Also, be prepared that there´s no lift in the building. The reception itself is on the first floor, the rooms are on second to forth floor.

Best oatmeal. Ever. And I really want the recipe! 😅 But beside that, A1 has very nice location with a beautiful sunset view with St. Gertrude’s Church in the background. 🌇 Public transport is also very close. 🚎 Bus is 1 minute, 🚋 tram 4 minutes. And if you want to walk, whole center (trains, buses, square) is approx 15 minutes of nice walk. Of course, it is “just 3 star” budget hotel, but for that price, it’s very very great deal. We was there for second time and we will be there next year.

We liked the room and how clean it was. The cleaning lady was amazing and our room looked great every day. The location is about 20mins away from the old town by foot, so it's not that far at all. :).

Breakfast. There were many options, but the scrambled eggs were sweet and not to our taste, as well as the sausages, which is what we mainly like to eat for breakfast. If you come early enough, there is plenty of food, but one time we came an hour before the end of breakfast (its available for 3 hours) and a lot of things like boiled eggs, butter, juice were already gone and not refilled. We skipped most of our breakfasts because it wasn't enough or tasty for us.

Great location and great value for the money. Nice breakfast. Clean room. Helpful staff.

The walls between our room/bathroom and the neighboring room are very thin. We could hear absolutelly everything people in the other room were talking about, every sinlge word. But most of the day we were outside, so we were not bothered with it so much. I dont know if it is like this with all rooms.

The rooms are nice, good beds, good location, pleasant staff, though at first glance the hotel might look of questionable quality. A lot of good places to eat it within reach of 1 km. City's old town is also close. ~20-25 min walk.

The room had window to the street which was pretty active and noisy. Even with closed window you could hear the business of the streets. Hotel doesn't have it's own parking, though I was informed beforehand. There could be a bigger variety of hot dishes for breakfast.
